This is about how the horror movies I find which seem to consistently look for some sort of limit or norm or expectation, and proceed to vaporize it with a low orbit nuclear strike, blowing the rest of the film in a stratospherically unforeseen spiral all come out of Australia or New Zealand.

Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead + Wyrmwood: Apocalypse are best described as Mad Max meets zombie films. Aussie rednecks caught in a zombie outbreak discover you can convert gasoline engines to run on methane belching zombies. Then shit gets really weird. Low budget splatterpunk at its finest.

Dead Alive is one of Peter Jackson's infamous early movies, which is simultaneously one of the most blood filled and gruesome zomedy movies in all of horror history (no exaggeration), and a delightful fairy tale love story.

Upgrade is a scifi horror mix which revolves around a mechanic who, after being paralyzed in a car accident and robbery, receives a experimental implant which helps him walk and solve his wife's murder.

A transgressive slow burn, Coming Home In The Dark is one of those movies that works really hard to make you loathe everyone in it as it starts to unfold, but pays off if you stick it out past the initial loathing to discover where it's going. Nothing but deeply horrific human evils and trauma, stunning and shattering by the end.

I'm definitely not a fluent speaker, so I could be wrong, but here's how I got there:

In Spanish, some (informal, I think?) commands are formed by dropping the "r" from the end of an infinitive verb. (Every infinitive verb in Spanish ends in r.) For example, "to run" is "correr." If you want to tell someone to run, it's "corre." If you want to tell someone to do something to something/someone, you append a little pronoun thing to the end. From "besar" (to kiss) we get "bésame" (kiss me). From "cocinar" (to cook) we get "cocínalo" (cook it). From "callar" (to silence) we get "cállate" (silence yourself/shut up).

My confusion stemmed from never having heard the word gamba before. To my knowledge the word for shrimp is camarón

There are many places, incidentally, where public nudity is perfectly legal in real life. In most of Oregon, you can be naked as long as you aren't advertising anything or performing a sex act or actively trying to arouse people. Portland has laws against exposing your genitals except as an act of protest. (See: Naked Bike Ride.) In Washington State, you must commit 'lewd or obscene behavior' for nudity to be illegal -- and no, being naked is not lewd or obscene behavior on its own, sorry bubbuleh. There are only 3 states in the US where Titties Out For Purposes Other Than Breastfeeding But The Titties Are Just Hanging Out is illegal all by itself. (Indiana, Tennessee, and Utah, in case you were wondering.)

People's trauma doesn't make other people's actions morally wrong, either, because that's usually the next argument. I was literally put into an Exvangelical flashback and onto the verge of a panic attack earlier today by a comedian badly singing a bit from 'I'm In The Lord's Army.' That doesn't make doing that morally wrong, it just meant that I had to be a fucking grown-up and deal with the feelings that I had when that happened.
