PSA: *Really* Anxious or Emotional? Read Here...
I'm begging anyone (especially the ladies!!) who has ever felt that their anxiety or emotions just don't seem to fit with everyone else: please look up MAST CELL ACTIVATION SYNDROME. My panic disorder has virtually resolved with antihistamines. This isn't pseudoscience, this is psychiatry's biggest failure. Are you hypermobile? Do a double-take. Sensitive to medications? SSRIs seem to make you more anxious? It may not all be in your head as you've likely been told. Up to 17% of the population has MCAS presentation. So many of us are labelled with horrific stigmatizing diagnoses, institutionalized, told we're too sensitive or dramatic. I'm desperate to get the word out because the harm is profound!
