The world is not made for disabled people.
Despite very helpful instructions from multiple people, I was unable to find the thing to turn off automatic playing on tumblr, meaning I have to be on guard while scrolling, because I can’t look at flashing things, and struggle with bright colors.
I can’t stand for long, and walking is difficult. Benches are far and few between. Stairs are a struggle, and many places either don’t have or make it difficult to get to alternatives.
My schools push to open plates don’t work, which means I have to find some body part to sacrifice to the door that day. They refuse to fix it. Kids leave their chairs pushed out, which makes it difficult for me to get around. Not to mention the chars that are connected to desks, which I struggle to wind my way into.
And I am not disabled to any sort of extreme. I have chronic pain and mild mobility issues. If I am struggling, I can’t even imagine who else is suffering from these bare minimum accommodations.
So, any able bodied and/or non disabled people who read this, please do what you can. Push your chairs in, open doors, provide accessible seating, and make sure your buildings are accessible. Do what you can. Ask people what you can do. Don’t just rely on some internet stranger who is complaining in hopes anyone I know in person will email my school about the doors for me.
