These Salted Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies are a tasty twist on the traditional chocolate chip cookie. Brown butter adds a rich, nutty flavor, and a sprinkle of flaky sea salt elevates them to the next level.
Instructions: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit 180 degrees Celsius. Use parchment paper to line baking sheets. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Cook, swirling occasionally, for 5-7 minutes, or until the butter turns golden brown and smells nutty. Remove from the heat and set aside for 5 minutes to cool. Combine the cooled brown butter and sugars in a large mixing bowl. Blend in the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a separate bowl. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients gradually, mixing until just combined. Add the chocolate chips and mix well. Scoop the dough into 2 tablespoon-sized balls and place them on the prepared baking sheets. Sprinkle a pinch of flaky sea salt on top of each ball. 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centres are set, bake. Allow to cool for 5 minutes on the baking sheets before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
