Praying for the day fandoms stop treating imperfect victims as worse than the people actually hurting them. Because it is literally textbook victim-blaming. There’s just no way to do that without sounding like the asshole who blames a rape victim for wearing a short skirt and walking alone at night instead of blaming the rapist who chose to assault them.
No matter how stupid, naive, or "crazy" you think the person being hurt was, their actions can never be considered worse than those of the perpetrator. So stop treating villains as if they’re some force of nature that couldn’t possibly be stopped and therefore aren’t responsible for anything. Because that’s exactly what it sounds like when y’all write essays about "they should have known better!" instead of saying "my murderous blorbo shouldn’t have been spilling other people’s blood"
