To be super clear: I'm not trying to say that nobody gave a fuck when Amrod died, I'm just saying that Fëanor being the one to accidentally cause Amrod to die probably made it even harder to process and prevented the brothers from openly talking about it. Especially while Fëanor was still alive (you can decide for yourselves if he would have stopped them or if they just felt it's awkward to talk about their dad killing their brother in front of said dad). And then there was war all the time, and they had to survive and - you get the idea. Also the Ambarussar had a very unique bond that went beyond what any of the others shared, which is what I also mean by them not fully understanding.

Back to the original topic, I just think that being the "leftovers" among the brothers (with Maedhros and Maglor being especially close and Celegorm and Curufin being the disaster duo they are, once again you get the idea) and sharing this experience pushed Caranthir and Amras closer together, even if they never openly discussed this. This is why Dead Heart Caranthir is crashing out particularly hard about everything.
