SLEEPOVER TIME! So, uh, do you have any headcanons about Lúthien? If not, about Arwen?
My headcanon about Luthien is that I always picture her dance against Morgoth as being like the sacrificial dance from the Rite of Spring, something super intense and brutal and world shaking!

My headcanon about Arwen is that she was destined to marry Aragorn and reconcile the race of men to the Eldar....and she's got mixed feelings about this. She's kind of like a Christ sacrificial figure, chosen to die to save mankind. She fell in love with Aragorn so suddenly, just struck down with it, and I think she felt that her love for Aragorn was a sign that The One wanted her to marry Aragorn and renounce her immortality for the betterment of Man. That's why she looked so much like Luthien, because from the moment she was born, and before it, she was destined to make the same choice of Luthien, only, how much of that was a choice? She was faithful, and accepted her fate and her duty, and sincerely loved Aragorn, but when Aragorn died and grief was killing her, she was also filled with rage that this was her fate and she never had any other option.

There are 7 works for this pairing on AO3 and I wrote three of them ("wind daughter, white flame", "tectonic", and "a song for water fair") and your art is like the second art I've ever seen of them. And it's PERFECT oh my godddd the way I screamed when I saw it
I started out shipping them as a thought experiment and now they're my frickin OTP. It was supposed to be a what-if fic and then!!! The PARALLELS between them! The heirs of kings, carrying the weight of fate, tied together by the quest for the Silmarils--but ending up on separate paths because of exactly what your art has in it. And yet in the end they both die without getting the afterlife of the elves: Luthien passes out of the world because of the Gift of Men and Maedhros ends up in the Everlasting Darkness.
