Another week has passed by, which means another chapter of my masterpiece is up. :-) I also uploaded the first two "chapters" of the Appendix. Not linking it here, as it's linked from the chapter itself.
Chapter 5: SAURON
A short excerpt:
He heads straight to the wine. It is imperative that he spend the rest of the evening with a noticeably joyous demeanour. He would never have expected that his trip to the past might turn into a triumph of such epic proportions. And that none of those who witnessed it would grasp the truth. He needs to drown the dark whisperings of his mind, but getting properly drunk is no easy task. Unlike Men—and Orcs—Elves and Maiar are notoriously resistant to the effects of fermented beverages. You can do it, Mairon. You managed in the past. He catches himself longing for the horrid, but highly effective liquors the Orcs produced from virtually anything. No matter their numerous shortcomings, they could be surprisingly inventive in some respects. He methodically goes through all that is on offer until he finds what he needs. A wine much more potent than anything he has sampled so far. It does not take long before he feels deliciously giddy.

thinking about the subtle ways in which sauron makes himself appear less threatening to someone in order to manipulate them, such as making his eyes slightly bigger, his voice softer and warmer, changing his shape so that he looks oddly familiar and safe to you, giving you gifts and all the physical affection you could ever want but there is still something slightly off about his presentation, like his eyes and pupils are just a tad too big, and his physical touch, while comforting, almost feels restraining and suffocating
his words feel comforting and loving, but only serve to isolate you further into his arms and you can't quite place why you feel strange and uncomfortable sometimes, but then he quietly shushes you with a hug and tells you everything will be alright as long as you stay with him
