I actually think Sandrone & Columbina parallel a lot Wanderer & Durin.

Wanderer and Sandrone are both puppets who learned that emotions are a bad thing and only lead to pain, so they both sealed their emotions. Cut to the present where here comes this reincarnated person (Dragonspine Durin & The Moon sisters) that is actively learning how the world works and what it means to be human/to be part of society.

Begrudgingly they start to care for the other. Durin/Columbina start to break through the walls around their heart that they so heavily protected. Slowly and almost imperceptibly they start to grow, they learn that maybe it's not something bad to let people in. They start to have this soft spot for the other.

Wanderer & Sandrone had to cope with the idea of being left behind. They learned to cope in slightly different, but equally as bad, ways with the fact that people will leave.

Columbina & Durin have to learn what it means to belong, both have been rejected by the world, rejected by people. Now things are different, but that doesn't make it any easier to adapt to a world that left them behind for so long.

They compliment each other because Sandrone/Wanderer were convinced that everything is temporary, that people will leave. Then comes Durin/Columbina who refuse to leave them behind.

A moment to themselves before Durin left Nod Krai, and back to the land of Mondstadt that he called home.

With their hands on the other’s chest in a heart to heart moment, Durin vowed to keep a small piece of Illuga in his heart, and in return, Illuga would keep a piece of Durin in his own.

“A piece of me for a piece of you; so you’ll always have me, and I’ll always have you.” It was a small, poetic declaration of devotion that Durin spoke that night.

And Illuga agreed upon it.

Agreed to always remember each other, no matter the time and distance apart, and to never forget the memories they had already.

They already agreed to write to each other so the distance wouldn’t hurt. But letters take time to send, and when you can’t figure out what emotions to put on paper,

the letter sends a little too late.

In which the night is cold; cuddling with Durin helps.

You nestled further into Durin, chasing his warmth. 

Tonight was cold. A rarity for Mondstadt. However, this week had been particularly chilly. It was winter, but winters in Mondstadt tended to be mild. You wondered if it would snow. It would certainly be an odd sight seeing the city covered in a powdering of white. In your mind, snow was something that should be contained to Dragonspine. 

Durin pulled you in closer, mumbling something inaudible. His wings were already wrapped around you, but he somehow managed to cocoon you even further. Not that you minded. You welcomed it even. Anything to fight off the cold. Besides, you liked laying with Durin like this. Being enveloped in his arms was comforting. Having his wings form a shield around you made you feel the safest you had ever been. 

You felt Durin's tail wrap around your leg. You smiled; you always found it cute when he did that. You're not sure why. You just found his tail cute in general you supposed. He was very expressive with it. Akin to a puppy, it would swish back and forth when he was excited. When he was disappointed, it would droop in dejection. Durin would get embarrassed whenever you pointed it out, but you would reassure him that you weren't trying to tease him. 

Okay, maybe you were lying. Just a little though! You couldn't help it; Durin was just too cute when he was flustered. 

You smiled at the thought. 

Cupping Durin's cheek, you pressed a kiss against his forehead. Then you closed your eyes, letting yourself be dragged to the realm of sleep.
