I really liked drawing him, he has such a gentle and sleepy vibe.🥹
I think Durin's idle became even sadder for me when I realised that almost all of his loved ones are associated with flowers:
Albedo has flowers in both his elemental skill and burst. I think they're meant to be cecilias? But I'm not sure.
Klee has clovers on her design, her name means clover and there are clovers on her jumpty dumptys and her dodoco keychain.
Wanderer and Nilou are both associated with lotuses (and Nilou with Padisarah's) which they have on their designs and Nilou in her skills and her name also means lotus.
Andersdotter and Navia are roses. Both of them have roses in their designs, Navia also has roses in her skills and Anderdotter roses on her Lunar Acarna card, aswell as the cover of 'The Boar Princess', which was used to represent her in the 2nd Windblume festival cutscene.
(Lisa also has a rose, but I'm not sure how close to her Durin is)
Kirara has sakura blossoms (I'm pretty sure that's what they are?). They're both in her base outfit and her skin.
(There's also Venti with Cecilias, but again, I don't know how close they are.)
Alice doesn't have any obvious have associated with her, but she might also be a clover (because of Klee) or she could also be a rose, because her Lunar Arcana card has a bunch of roses in it and if the theory that Kleiner is based on the Little Prince, that would make her the rose.
So instead of him cherishing the petals because "pretty flower", it could also be because he's reminded of his friends and family, so flowers are very important for him. And then it bursts into flames... reminding him how easily the abyssal power within him can hurt those he loves.
