As someone who has an '' Straight as an Aro'' pins, I interpret it as a pun with "Straight as an arrow" (which means "honest") and "Straight as an aro" (in the sense that people often thinks that because I' m aro I'm not Queer which is not true, so it's a bit ironic). But English is not my native language so the way I interpret that phrase might be because of that.

i hope you don't mind me going off on the pronunciation of the word "aromatic"
because to me it makes no sense to just change the pronunciation of the base word for no reason. like why does ‘aroma’ [uh-row-muh] goes to ‘aroma’ [a-row-ma]??
and so that's why i'm going to continue to pronounce it as it should, aromatic [uh-row-muh-tic]
(also i am confident i would've hated the word if i wasn't Aromantic, but it's definitely amplified my hate)
