reflections i had late at night about asexuality that i want to share here
[text id: acephobia is rooted in and is entirely based on rape culture. being upset or confused as to why someone would refuse sex is based in rape culture. people think they are owed sex because of rape culture. and when asexual people, who are the only ones who entirely extricate themselves from sexual activity, publicly state their refusal of sex, they are met with hostility, especially when they are "conventionally attractive", because of rape culture, because they cannot subscribe to a world view where there are people who will not have sex with them and never will and don't ever want to.]
[text id: also jumping in to say "but there are asexual people who do have sex!!" whenever the conversation is about asexuality is so annoying. like yeah there are and they're totally valid but also they are a part of the community that doesn't represent all of us. having sex is a normal thing that they do because it feels good, but the part of the community that is sex repulsed would really like the broader allosexual world to accept that THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO DO NOT HAVE SEX AND NEVER WILL. it's the strangest thing, it's like trying to convince us that no actually we should have sex!! everyone must have sex!! again why? RAPE CULTURE]
[text id: not gonna get into aromanticism, alloaromanticism, aroasexuality and those nuances, because that's a huge can of worms that i don't wanna get into because i will Not Stop Talking. i'll just say that allosexual aromantic people (alloaro) are fucking awesome and they should actually have more sex and be meaner to everyone and all allo people should quiver before them. and it's bullshit to say that their identity is in any way invalid (or let alone ABUSIVE like some chronically online losers say) and i love the aroace spectum we're all awesome]
