Saw someone headcanon that Van Eck named Wylan, Jan Van Eck Jr. and Wylan was his middle name. And after finding out Wylan couldn't read and believed that he wasn't a good heir anymore he started calling him by his middle name instead.
I can't stop thinking about it.
What if Wylan helped the crows steal the sun summer in Shadow and Bone season 1. Kaz went to him for explosives before he left, why not just bring Wylan along.
Plus, Jesper was begging Kaz for a demo man, here he is.
Headcanon:
Wylan is 16 in the books and has red hair. Wylan is in his early 20s in the show and has brown hair.
My headcanon is that Wylan's hair darkened as he got older and that's why its different.

We don't talk enough about how Wylan was basically told he'd do great working in a pleasure house. He's 16 years old.

Kaz is basically a criminal mastermind, leading a gang, doing the Dregs taxes in his head, and he wouldn't even have graduated high-school yet.
Inej was kidnapped by slavers and sold at age 14. She became an assassin at 16.
Jesper dropped out of university and developed a gambling addiction at 15.
Wylan took over his father's merchant empire at and had his father put a hit on him while he was 16.
Nina was a child solder. She got captured by slavers and escaped. She got someone she cared about sent to jail. She developed a drug addition. She's 17 years old.
Matthias' family was killed when he was 13. He became a child soldier like Nina after. He got sent to hellgate at age 18.
This might be an unpopular opinion, but I genuinely don't think Jesper would be angry about Wylan being a Van Eck. I think he would def feel a bit deceived by Wylan and that he would feel distanced from him because they barely know each other. But if Wylan had told Jesper before Kaz revealed it in the show (even though he probably wouldn't), Jesper would've been so shocked and would've just thought that he was the stupid one for not seeing it.
Wylan: So I'm actually a Van Eck
Jesper: What..?
Jesper: ...
Jesper: ...
Jesper: WAIT, THAT MAKES SO MUCH SENSE! HOW WOULD YOU HAVE LEARNED TO PLAY PIANO, DO ADVANCED CHEMISTRY, AND NOT KNOW HOW TO FIGHT IN THE BARREL?
