AU prompt !!! A bit more serious than my usual shenanigans
May and Ravi childhood penpals. She gets an assignment at school to write to a penpal, and she chooses a boy in a kidsâ cancer ward. It starts out as just fulfilling the assignment, but after a few letters Ravi writes back and a friendship is struck. It means a lot of both of them and they continue for a few years (maybe until the start of the show) when they lose touch.
May always wonders what happened to her childhood friend, until one day she and Ravi are talking after a date and he brings up letters he used to get, and how much they meant to himâŚ
Idk how much youâd need to stretch canon, but I find the idea of them reconnecting once their adults to be very sweet (I also donât know how old Ravi is supposed to be ??? So I donât know when makes sense that theyâd start writing but thatâs why itâs AU lmao)
woohoo! letâs go! Uh, current day is season 8 divergent
1. Mayâs Grade 5 class starts doing a penpal program with a local childrenâs hospital. May writes about her annoying little brother and the bracelets she and her friends made on the weekend. She doesnât know who itâs going to yet, so she doesnât know what they might be interested in. Her dad let her help with some of the new flowers in the garden a couple weeks ago and she adds that in too. Their teacher has them sign with just their initials. When her mom hears that she nods in approval. May doesnât know why.
2. She gets a letter back from a boy a year older than her. He has two sisters, one older, one younger. He tells her heâs in the hospital for cancer treatment. He doesnât usually have to stay there, but theyâre trying a new chemo and they donât want him to have a bad reaction at home. May thinks that sounds pretty awful. Heâs interested in the garden and the bracelets, and what games her brother is playing. May draws him a photo of the garden and names as many of the flowers as she can remember, and tells him about Harryâs love of Mario Kart and PokĂŠmon. She takes off her bracelet and slips it into the envelope, because sheâd learned how to make adjustable ones and it should fit him. She does also ask for his favourite colours so she can make him one thatâs just for him, not a reused one.
3. His favourite colour is green, so May makes him a bracelet with four different colours of green, plus a cream to split them up. It takes her most of the weekend, because the first one comes out crooked and she remakes it so heâll have a better one. She keeps the first one for herself. Heâs good at math, and he sends her some tips to help out, since heâs already done that year. She does better on her next math test and her dad is so proud. So is her penpal. She sends him updates on the garden and her mom helps her press one of the flowers to send to him. They donât have any green flowers, but she picks a daisy with some nice leaves so he at least has a little green. A fresh flower would probably be better but she doesnât know how long it takes for the letters to get there.
4. They donât do penpals in sixth grade, but the last May had heard, he was about to get out of the hospital. She hopes heâs doing well. The green bracelet lasted most of the summer, until it fell off when she was weeding the garden with her dad. She has a box for birthday cards and letters from her grandparents, and she adds in her penpalâs letters and the frayed green bracelet.Â
5. May kind of forgets about her penpal over the years, just thinking about him when she has to rearrange her letter box. Luckily itâs at her apartment when Mom and Bobbyâs place catches fire, because she would have been devastated to loose all of that on top of everything else. Honestly, she and Harry were luckier than Mom and Bobby, because most of their current stuff was at Mayâs apartment or with Dad, and Mayâs been obsessively updating their family photos ever since she worked at dispatch and realized just how many things can happen to a house.Â
6. In the aftermath of the fire, May runs into the 118 a lot more. Theyâre always at Mom and Bobbyâs apartment trying to figure out what to do about their (hopefully temporary) Captain Gerrard problem. One day she and Ravi are leaving at the same time, and almost bump into each other going out the door. They laugh and ride the elevator down together and Ravi asks her if she wants to get a coffee.
7. Raviâs really fun, May realizes. They leave the coffee shop with each otherâs numbers and plans for dinner.Â
May and Raviâs shared experiences of being first responders makes dating a lot easier, actually. Mayâs finishing up her last year at university, and Raviâs shift hours are weird, but they make it work, texting and calling when they canât see each other in person.Â
Itâs a little weird when the rest of the 118 finds out â May has to borrow Raviâs car when herâs is in the shop, so she drives him to the station â but otherwise itâs really, really good.Â
8. Mara reminds May of herself, a little bit. Their trauma is different but they both had to deal with too much too young. She tries to remember what she liked at that age, to connect with Mara, and remembers the bracelets she used to make in middle school. She stops at a craft store and picks up one of the bags of thread for friendship bracelets.Â
The first few she makes are wonky, but eventually she gets back into the groove. She wants to have nice examples for Mara.Â
She brings her supplies over to Raviâs house one night, thinking she can make him one. When she asks for his favourite colour, he says green, and she picks out a few different shades. She almost goes with a white to separate them, but picks up the cream instead because it looks nicer next to the greens, a little softer than the white.Â
Ravi watches curiously as she cuts the thread and gets started.Â
âI used to have a bracelet like that when I was a kid,â he says.Â
âOh yeah? Did you learn how to make them at summer camp? Or did your sisters make you one?â Mayâs focused on the bracelet.Â
âUh, a penpal actually,â Ravi tells her. âShe gave me one that sheâd already made, then made me a green one â thatâs been my favourite colour forever.âÂ
âA penpal?â May looks up at him.Â
Ravi nods. âYeah, when I was in the hospital. It was like a school project thing, but she was really nice.â
âDid she have a little brother and garden with her dad?âÂ
ââŚyes,â Ravi says slowly. âHow did you know that?â
âMG,â May points at herself. âAnd you were RP.â
Ravi sits down next to her. âWow, what are the chances?âÂ
âI have no idea,â May laughs.Â
âI loved getting your letters,â Ravi says earnestly. âI couldnât wear the bracelets right away because of the IVs and stuff, but as soon as I got out I wore them.â He smiles. âAnd I really loved hearing about your garden. Being inside was so boring.âÂ
âNext youâre going to tell me you still have them,â May laughs.Â
âI do,â Ravi says. âWell, theyâre at my parentsâ, but I still have them.âÂ
âReally?â
âYeah.âÂ
âYou know,â May says, an idea forming in her mind, âyou have a lot of space in your yard here.âÂ
âYeah?âÂ
âWe could make a garden here.âÂ
âWith lots of daisies?âÂ
âWith lots of daisies.âÂ
Ravi looks at her. âDo you need to finish that bracelet right now?âÂ
âNo.âÂ
Ravi scoops her off the couch as she laughs, carrying her down the hall to the bedroom.Â

His eyes drift over the stubbled jaw, the full bottom lip, the mole under his left eye, the scar right above his right eyebrow and back down until locking with Eddieâs.
Heâs never quite been able to describe the way Eddieâs gaze settles on him most of the time. He knows it pierces through him, reading every last inch of him like a well-loved book, voraciously soaking up everything there is to learn about Buck. He knows itâs telling, and always fond. He knows it keeps Buck steady, helps him stay anchored.Â
He knows that Eddieâs eyes with Buck have never been truly guarded. Even though itâs always been difficult for him to be vulnerable, Eddie gifts that vulnerability to Buck in a thousand different ways. Itâs not effortless, because nothing difficult is ever effortless, but he does it in a way that makes Buck feel worthy. He does it in a way that doesnât expect anything out of Buck, even for the privilege that it is.
And thatâs how Eddieâs looking at him now, every last detail more pronounced by the diminishing space between them.
âWhy are you looking at me like that?â Buck asks, almost soundlessly. Hope cloys the words into something sticky sweet, strands of sugar stretching from Buckâs lips to Eddieâs gaze.
âHow am I looking at you?âÂ
âLikeâŚ,â he whispers, anxiety looping around his lungs once before he decides to take the plunge. âLike youâre in love with me.â
Hello! First time poster, so bare with me, please! I am looking for a #bucktommy fic

Could you do a imaging with Buck from 911. I love the opposite attracts idea. Like a secret girlfriend, because she isnât a fan of being around people. Sheâs different from all the other girls that buck dated
Thank you
Hope you have a good day:)
A Good Different
You sat on the couch in your baggy sweat pants and oversized shirt. You watched as your boyfriend ran around the house getting ready.
He wasnât the type of guy you were used to but he made you feel so special and loved. And you knew for a fact you werenât the type of girl he had been with before. But none of that mattered, you loved each other and nothing could change that.
âAre you sure you donât want to come?â Buck asked sitting down in front of you on the couch facing you.
âNo Buck, you know itâs not my thing, you go have funâ I said, urging him to go.
âAre you sure? I donât have to goâ he replied.
âEvan, baby, look at me, I want you to go have fun, I know how much you love going to hang out with the 118. Go have fun, beside I have a new crime documentary I want to watchâ you said, switching the channel to your show.
âFine, Iâll miss youâ he leaned over to kiss you.
âI love youâ he said
âI love you tooâ you sighed, âgive me 10 minutes and Iâll be dressedâ
You arenât the type to hang with a bunch of people but if it made Buck happy then you would push your fears away.
10 minutes later you came out in ripped jeans and a faded black concert tee. You threw on your combat boots and grabbed your bag.
âDamn your beautifulâ Buck whispered grabbing you in a kiss, âmaybe we should stay homeâ
He chuckled as he kissed you passionately. You smiled under his kisses. When the two of you finally separated you headed for the door.
You applied your makeup in the car adding your dark lipstick to top it off. As Buck pulled into the drive way you started to get nervous. Looking over at your Buck noticed your demeanor.
âHey you donât have to do this if you donât want to, we can go homeâ he said grabbing your hand.
You gave his a squeeze and shook your head no.
âNo, letâs stay, I want to do this for you. These people mean the world to you. And because of that they mean the world to me, itâs time I finally met themâ you reply.
Buck gets out and runs to open your door. He leads you to the front door. Buck opens it and goes in.
âHey everybody weâre here!â He yells
âFinally!â
âAbout damn time!â
You hear every yell from the main area. As you follow Buck down the stairs of the house, you think he said it belonged to his captain and his wife. Everyone stops and looks at you.
âWoah! Buck who is this?â A dark haired man smiles.
âChimney!â A woman smacks his arm. You recognize her as Buckâs sister.
âSorry about him, Iâm Maddie, Buckâs sisterâ Maddie said, coming over to you.
Buck could feel you get nervous. He squeezed your hand.
âEveryone this is Y/N, my girlfriendâ he says. He leads you over to a chair. He then introduces everyone. You slowly start to feel at home. He was right the 118 does feel like a family.

buck/eddie. 34.4k words. complete. rated e. eddie moves to texas, angst with a happy ending, sexting.
âMy luggage got delayed coming in from Phoenix but it should be in tomorrow.â
Eddie is, of course, not fine. He hasnât been fine since he left for El Paso yesterday. He suspects he wasnât fine long before that, but he was able to keep it beaten back with a stick. Not so much anymore.
âThat sucks.â
Theyâve been different since Eddie made the decision to move to El Paso a few weeks back. He could have sworn Buck was okay. He was okay in the kitchen that day, when he flipped the iPad over and unearthed Eddieâs tender familial burns. He was okay on the couch, the couch Eddie had to leave behind, the couch he mourns for reasons too complicated to think about. He was okay on the virtual call with the real estate agent. He was okay. They were okay.
âYeah, it really does. All of my underwear was in that luggage.â
They donât feel okay.
