Before he could finish his confused sentence the kid jumped out from behind a shelf holding a pristine copy of grognak.

"I know you like comics too so I thought you'd like this Da- Maccready..."

Before the kid could beat themselves up for slipping up for a second time maccready would scoop them up in his arms and tell them how proud he is and how he's so glad to be their Dad. That is until the young sole started yelling at him that he was gonna totally crumple the comic by being all huggy and sappy. Ah how he loved being a dad... their dad

Hancock

Hancock would groggily make his way out of his comfy bed at the state house and into the living area to find the kid wearing his hat on their head.

"Of the people for the people"

The kid pointed to the ceiling well standing on their tippy toes trying to make themselves look bigger and Hancock thought it was absolutely adorable.

"Well looky at what we have he- Wait a minute did you call me dad earlier?"

"What!? No i never did that you must be hearing things old man.... Nice hat though think i might keep it. Bye!"

The kid would then promptly take off with his hat bolting down the stairs leaving Hancock to chase after them.... It was way to damn early for this and he was way to damn sober, but he'd be lying if he said he didn't love the little rascal. Even if they are just way to much like him

Cait

The fuck did the kid just say? mom her? how much psycho did she take last night? Her ears surely had to be playing tricks on her. Still she finished made her way into the goodneighbor alley the kid bad disappeared to earlier to find them standing there arms crossed

"whacha need pip squeak?"

"Cait check it out I learned how go punch!!!"

before Cait could fully react she had a fist flying towards her face and smacking her in the jaw. God she needed to stop taking psycho her reaction time had gone straight to shit

"What the fuck!?"

"You were supposed to block! Im so sorry!!! are you okay!?

"Ya can't just go around punching people!"

Beyond a nasty new bruise and a long talk about why suddenly punching people who A. weren't expecting it and B. didn't deserve it was bad, nothing would really change between them and the slip up would be forgotten in favor of fighting etiquette with Cait 101

Danse

Him and the kid had been exploring an abandoned warehouse for the bos when he heard the words that about made his heart stop. Dad? The kid sees him as a father figure?

"Come quick slow poke you gotta see this!!!!"

The kid repeated bringing Danses head back down to earth and his heart back from his feet to his chest. Only for his heart to plummet again apon seeing the kid holding a mini nuke with a huge smile on their face

"Scribe what are you doing put that down immediately!!!!"

"But it's for the brotherhood....."

once they had put it down he'd take them by the arm and practically pull them the rest if the way back to the prydwen completely forgetting about what they had called him I'm favor of their safety.

Curie

Did the kid really just call her mom? her heart felt all warm and fuzzy for some reason apon hearing this and she couldn't help but smile.

"Here mom I found this and I thought yku might like it"

The kid handed Curie a beautiful flower they had picked up somewhere along their trip.

"Why thank you! It is so beautiful I shall cherish it always!"

Curie wouldn't really feel the need to comment apon her new title choosing rather to take the kid in her arms and hug them. Emotions may be confusing, but this? this she could get used to.

Deacon

apon hearing the words his heart abruptly stopped and time froze. Did they just call him dad? what was happening? His thoughts were interrupted when the kid in question rounded the corner of hq wearing their own pair of shades and a wig.

"Whacha think!?"

he couldn't help but smirk at the way the kids whole face lit up with excitement

"I think if I'm not careful somebody's gonna steal my job huh? Now all we gotta do is teach you the ins and outs of annoying carington and I think I can retire."

He'd think about the weight of the accidental slip up later for now he was more than content pretending nothing happened. Not because he didn't already love the kid, because hell, he already acted like a parent to them, but because he didn't feel worthy of this ball of pure joy and innocence in front of him.

Piper

She'd immediately go to sole worried something was wrong, onky.to find them holding up a nuka cola quantum.

"Hey! I found a quantum thought you might wanna share it?"

"Sure thing kiddo.... but uh... one thing first... did you uh.. call me mom earlier?"

She'd fight through the awkwardness because curiosity was her Achilles heel and she could never just let something be.

"Oh! Uh... I think I might have by accident... Sorry..."

"It's um... it's okay I just..." God this was awkard "I thought I might have misheard you is all... it's alright though."

in favor of trying to change the topic shed take a huge swig of the nuka quantam only for it to go down the wrong tube leaving her a choking mess and sole laughung their ass off. and just like that she single handedly made the situation awkward enough the kid would never call her mom again and she would never bring it up.....

Nick

He'd turn his head around questioningly. Dad? surely the kid just messed up because there's no way the could see a bucket if bolts like him as their dad, right?

"Look dad I drew a picture of you!"

They say wearing the biggest grin his ever seen.

"Do you like it?"

This was the only time he'd ever been thankful that the institute had decided to make him. He'd thank his lucky stars and take the kid into his arms.

"I love it. You'll have to show Piper, with a talent like thay you could illustrate that paper of hers huh kid? to bad I didn't have you around before the bombs you would've made a spectacular police sketch artist."

His whole life, well whole life after the bombs thay is he'd wondered what the hell was actually his and not the poor bastard he was modeled after's, and well he'd found it. Even if this kid was the only thing he ever had thay ass truly his it was more than enough and if filled him with the purpose he'd craved since trashed by the institute.

Preston

"Dad! help come here fast!"

He'd hear their little terrified voice ring out in the middle of the night. Without thinking he'd run out of whatever house he was calling home and into the street to see little sole running from a group of super mutans. Rushing in he'd take them in his arms, barely dodging the swing of the nearsest mutans wooden board, and hed sprint towards the old root cellar he knew was at the edge of sanctuary. he'd hear explosions and the whirling sound of the turets firing, but he wouldn't look back not until he reached the cellar and he knew sole would be sfe. Swiftly putting sole down on the ground so that they could climb down the ladder and following them himself he'd seel it shut and take them back in his arms once they were safely down there. it's only then he'd notice the tears in their eyes.

"I can't lose you dad, not like what happened in the vault, not again."

they'd cry into his shoulder and it make his hear hurt and fill him with rage. Why couldn't he ever just be safe why couldn't he keep the people he lived safe? why was the universe always out to get him like this. No he could lose everything, but he'd be damned if anything ever happened to them

"I'm not going anywhere, it'll take a lot more then mutans to make me leave you. We're just gonna stay down here until Sturges and the others deal with it okay? it's gonna be alright. We're gonna be alright"

He meant it to. Everything was gonna be alright, because he didn't know what he'd do if it wasn't.

He would go stiff as a board when he heard what the kid said and had processed that no his hearing was still intact and that's indeed what the kid said. If the kid reiterated and was still calling him over he'd walk up to them mole rat in arms and suddenly forget about what he was called in favor of trying to figure out what the hell was happening.

"Sole what is that?"

If you have the CDs, it will be easier to rip them. Most music managers include this feature and you will have all the track information loaded into the file. There are also pirate websites where you can download entire albums with their metadata attached, but there could be risks associated (I would worry more about viruses than lawsuits these days, though). Deciding a method for acquiring music is a balance of the required time, the alternative costs, and other pros/cons like supporting the artist or taking the risk of pirating sites.

1. Find the song on Youtube. YT has pretty much every song at this point, usually in comparable quality to what you would get on a streaming service.

This is great if you already listen to music on Youtube, but there might be a better method for going direct from Spotify, though this will work either way. The main downside to this method is that official music (and even lyric) videos sometimes have non-music portions so you might have to listen to the whole thing to be sure. SponsorBlock will highlight non-music sections for most artists, so if you have it installed you can tell at a glance if this is the case.

2. Download the audio from YT. There are many ways to download YT videos completely for free. It’s probably against the YT terms of service, but you’re not going to get sued.

I like y2mate for downloading YT videos (or their audio in mp3s) because it’s a simple, ad-free website. You just paste in the URL for the video you want to download. Sometimes it’s laggy and you have to come back later, but usually after a few moments the video loads, you select your download quality (the highest), and then save it. For easy file management, download everything in folders for the Artist, and then sub folders for the Album, and name the MP3 file the “song name”.mp3.

3. Upload to your music player/manager of choice. The file will currently be lacking metadata (Artist, Album, track number, etc) and will be added to the library as a song with its title set as the file name minus its .mp3 extension. Various music players/managers have different ways to add metadata (usually accessed by right-clicking the song) with varying ease.

iTunes is free and and logical if you have an iPhone, but limited in its capabilities. I do all my management/listening in MusicBee (free for Windows) because of its playlist and management features, as well as having a very customizable interface. You can set it to scan the folders you download music to so it will automatically load things into your library, or do so manually. Once loaded into MusicBee, you can batch edit an entire album’s metadata at once easily with Auto-Tagging. Auto-Tag can fetch the details from the internet and fill in artist, tracks, album artwork, etc and save that information to the mp3 file. You can edit this manually if needed too. Drag and drop the edited songs to any other player you may want to add them to so it can find the files.

4. Now you can use the player of your choice to listen endlessly, form playlists, etc. Some free music managers also have music discovery/recommendation features for expanding your collection.

MusicBee allows you to create playlists with folders, subfolders, and dynamic features. You can export these playlists for cross-platform play on other computers with MusicBee installed. I think the playlist features on MusicBee are better than what is on streaming services. You can create an auto-playlist of your recently-added music so you can easily find the ones that are new and might need need editing, adding to other playlists, etc. I have custom tags for music by LGBT artists, sapphic love songs, and more. I also drag-and-drop these playlists directly into iTunes so I have them on my phone too (you can do this to make a new playlist or just edit/add songs to a current one).

There are many music managers/players, including cross-platform ones with streaming, though they usually have fees for that feature. Because you aren’t streaming the music and rather storing it, you’ll need space on each device you want to play the music on, but memory is cheap these days.

You can buy a 2TB external harddrive for less than Spotify or Youtube Premium costs for six months, so having to store the songs isn’t much of a downside. Plus, the song will never “leave the service”, you can listen to it offline, etc.
