Apropos of nothing: I really like Oblivion Remastered. It really does look and feel like Oblivion down to all its weird idiosyncrasies. My hope is the next Fallout 3/NV remakes also do this. I want it to bug out and do silly shit and not be perfect.

Just had these thoughts, I figure someone may want to see this so I post.
Harlan Ellison’s works had a very strong impact on me. Despite obvious issues such as misogyny and being a generally unpleasant person, I found his works simple yet profound. Then I played fallout4 and immediately went “hey that’s the boy and the dog, vaults and all” and there’s even references towards psychic and talking dog. Then I played fallout3 and I met president Eden, and I thought about I have no mouth but I must scream. This short story had such a huge impact on me and I will fall for every creature who has existential issues. And unfortunately I am also a big EVA fan, also Lem, also JG Ballard. I know that fo3 is not technically well-written but I love its main narrative, right up to my alley and I grew intense attachment to my lone. This game held a special place in my heart. I love it, a desolate world and a lonely young adult, and yet there is light and there’s future. Thinking about this game makes me emotional.

Obsidian is making a new Fallout game while Bethesda works on Elder Scrolls 6. The Fallout 3 and New Vegas remasters are both real and apparently far enough along in development for Bethesda to confirm that they're really happening. It feels like a good time to be an Elder Scrolls and Fallout fan again.
