Any pointers/links to reputable sources on pawpaw planting? (Just knowing whether the sources the Wikipedia article links are good would be great; I'm just not even sure where to start researching!)
We've idly considered planting some at my parents' house to fill a overly Moist spot that's already killed a pear tree, but I don't know if it's even true that pawpaw like 'swamp' conditions...
They won't enjoy wet spots, as they need well-drained soil. If you have a low spot, I would recommend looking into a willow tree, or checking with a few nurseries to get ideas for other trees that will do well without rotting in the wet. But willows enjoy the wet, it's why they're often by ponds and river edges and stuff.
Some of the sites I looked at while I was learning:
This MASSIVE resource about (Michigan) Pawpaws
Michigan's DNR page
Kentucky State University's Guide
Cornell Univserity's Guide
LSU College of Agriculture's Guide
University of Georgia's College of Agricultural and Environmental Science's Guide
Ohio DNR's page
Project PawPaw
Blossom Nursery
Perry Pawpaw's on-site resources (this is where I got the first 4 from)
Thanks!!!!
