Concept for an @outsidexboxofficial and @outsidextra narrative
Following the excellent finale of @outsidexboxofficial and @outsidextra āsĀ A Spot of Bother, I canāt seem to stop thinking about this idea for a series of stories starring characters created by the Outside X teams.
Ā It would start small; random episodic adventures in the land of Skyrim starring Kippers and his trusty human sidekick, Ellen. After a while, Kippers and Ellen end up in a port town in the north, following some highly misguided business ideas about becoming fish mongers. However, after Kippers inevitably gets in trouble with the guards for fishing without a license, they hide in a local tavern where they run into the crew of a rather handsome, if beaten up, ship that has laid down anchor in the harbour; the Joyful Damnation (and yes, Ellen and Merilwen look almost identical).
Ā Kippers and Ellen decide to join up with the crew, at least for now. As they sail south, down the coast, they bid a tearful farewell to Skyrim. However, after far to short a journey, they come upon the open sea. Looking to the land off the port side of the ship, they see that a mountain range that appears to have been cut off at the bottom; clearly there is supposed to be more land, and yet there is not.
Continuing south, they land in a bizarre world that none of them are familiar with. Finding a newly printed map in a shop on the sea front, Corazón discovers that they are in the Faelands. Showing the map to the others, we see that they have inexplicably found themselves in an enormous ocean, larger many times over than the planet Earth itself. Within the ocean are various worlds from various fantasy RPG styled video games. The Witcher, Dragon Age, Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Final Fantasy are all represented there. And directly at the centre, the land of Hyrule.
Ā The crewās curiosity is only amplified by the fact that clearly nobody else sees anything wrong with this world.
Ā They explore some of these worlds, and find this off in strange and bizarre ways. Upon returning to Skyrim, they find that the Jarl has been replaced a despotic James the Camera Man, who has just started a bloody war all throughout the region. The people of Caster Falls act the same, but they all have the face of Johnny Chiodini, with the exception of one patron of The Bawdy Flamingo.
Ā And it is Prudence who discovers the truth. After trying and failing to contact her Lord Cthulu on multiple occasions, she finally manages to get through to him. She learns that she and the crew of the Joyful Damnation have been placed in this patchwork world to save it. And she learns the origin of it. A being who is not quite an Old God, but greatly admires them, an almost all powerful, almost all-knowing demon has forged various contracts with various powerful beings in various worlds in order to trick this world into existence. Even the great Cthulu knows not why this has been done, or truly how the world is being held together. He only commands Prudence and her friends to fight it. And he tells her its name.
Ā Ā Ā And thatās all Iāve got .
