having trust issues is like ohhh calm down you’re overthinkingg people would never hurt youu. or would they
"Predation is, in part, fortified by men who defend abusers not because they believe the accused didn't do what they're accused of, but because they want to protect their own right to abuse others. (...) These men do not give a fuck about no "miscarriage of justice". - Tee Noir, Of Flesh & Fear: The Pyramid of Predators (x) (46:00)
very apt quote from a very good video.
the video was mostly about black male celebrities and the people who come to their defense, but this very specific point echoes true in many circumstances. people who defend abusers just so they can foster an environment where their behavior is allowed to go unchecked. and that reminded me of ISFF's recent post defending a known rapist and abuser and openly condemning victims speaking out and telling them to stay silent about their abuse.
I see a lot of people discussing ISFF and company's recent posts regarding the defense of sexual predators within the queer community at the cost of victim safety. and people ask,"why? what do these women gain by constantly going to bat for people exposed as abusers, predators, pedophiles, and rapists? how do they keep defending the indefensible?"
because this is why. they want to protect their own right to behave as they wish, to do whatever they like without consequence. if they muddy the waters enough, blur the lines enough, fearmonger enough, build the narratives up high enough, then nothing is there to tangibly stop them from doing horrible things.
they do not actually care about their fellow trans women, we have seen this time and time again - they talk at length about "callout culture" and "social murder", but find no issue in mobbing trans women that disagree with them and branding them as self-hating transmisogynists, they insist upon victim silence, they silence, scold, mock, fetishize, demean, and bully transfem victims of sexual violence. they ignore or participate in the abuse of the trans women around them.
they dont care about transfem victims of incest or pedophilia. they dont care about trans women suffering from debilitating intrusive thoughts or morality OCD. they dont care about trans women that have been forced into toxic dynamics or roles with their transfem partner(s). they don't care about transfems in the closet or transfems forced to boymode. they dont care about butch or masc transfems. they dont care about bi or straight transfems, or T4C transfems. they dont care about non-white transfems.
all of this posting about "protecting" trans women and "loving them before they're gone" and distorting language about the trauma and systemic oppression of transfems - it's all in service of a selfish agenda which has only one purpose: to create an environment where toxicity and abuse can go unchallenged.

maybe it's me being a brown woman but i can't comprehend how & why people treat having a racist phase as a teenager as smth okay or a norm
it's def not good but treating people who got better like they're still shitty people is a good way to make them turn back into shitty people
>Predominately Black led piece of media becomes popular.
>Among the characters there are one or two White characters with minor and/or distinctly antagonistic roles.
>White tumblr users focus entirely on said White characters.
>Tag of Black led piece of media is filled with posts about White character(s)
>Rinse. Repeat.
I think the most charitable interpretation of this is that people connect to characters that are like them, and that the experiences of Blackness is so alien to them that the White characters are the only ones that White people connect with. Combine that with the fact that Tumblr is so White as a platform, and you get this issue.
It’s still bad and racist, but it is understandable. People should still do better though. (I’m not trying to justify, I’m trying to come up with an explanation)
Please don’t make me say it.
We don't need you coming up with an charitable interpretation.

Like not for nothing but yeah, there should be consequences for sexually assaulting someone. We don’t have to believe in punitive carceral systems to say “committing a violent act against another person will have social repercussions for you”. Am I insane here?
npr ran a story this morning on air about the recent supreme court ruling in favor of trans youth sports bans, a ruling that specifies trans girls in particular and allows even public schools in red states to do whatever kind of exclusionary policy they want. and for this story they interviewed two people: a teenage trans boy in massachusetts who participates in tons of school sports, and an activist trans man in nyc who runs a nonprofit for trans youth. I'm not saying that either of these people have absolutely nothing pertinent to say about trans youth issues, but the teenager from MA mostly spoke about how lucky *he* is to participate in sports and the activist from NYC spent the entire interview plugging the book he wrote while barely answering a single question. The activist guy mentioned that he actually has spoken to the west virginian trans girl who was part of the case, but only to say how proud/sad he is to watch her become an activist "just like him".
not to be a critic, but its crazy to me that they could not speak either TO or ABOUT the people affected by this ruling (trans girls in conservative areas) at all. a combination of transmisogyny and shitty reporting means that the takeaway from that segment seemed to be "well, it sucks, but at least blue states are still allowed to be accepting of trans youth" rather than the very real attempts to eradicate trans people from public life or the very real possibility of violent retaliation against trans girls in these states.
during the activist's interview, the radio host asked him if he could quickly dispel some of the myths around trans youth in sports somehow being unfair to cis youth, and his response was to awkwardly shrug off the question and say that the answer is simply too "complicated and nuanced" to give a short soundbite on air about. are you fucking kidding me? live on WNYC with about 1 million weekly listeners, and you can't just say with your whole chest that trans girls belong in girls sports because they are girls too? come on
Being asexual and racist is embarassing as fuck. Being racist at all is obviously embarassing as fuck but the amount of racism and especially antiblackness i have been seeing from asexuals recently is obscene.
One of the only asexual activists is Yasmin Benoit, a Black woman. She has raised so much awareness for the community. She was the first asexual person to lead Pride in London, she started the #thisiswhatasexuallookslike movement and is THE leading voice for the community.
And you all will celebrate international asexuality day on April 6th but we wouldn't even have that if she hadn't cofounded it.
Edit: why are you all too scared to repost this. Cmon. Be vocal about being against racism
No hate to OP, there are other Black asexual activists besides Yasmin Benoit.

why are we so obsessed with pretending like the patriarchy doesn't benefit men. why are we so obsessed with erasing the fact that men don't want to fight against the patriarchy because they don't want to lose their privileges. like what does this fucking willful ignorance and pretending everything is sunshine and rainbows going to do with the global femicide rate and increasingly invasive laws against trans women and their transitioning and the fact that women are next to never believed when bringing allegations forward against a man and instead are slandered far and wide and in some cases even psychologically tormented in the press. what is pretending going to do about the fact that women get paid less than men, women are blamed for it when men stalk and assault them, there are still places where girls aren't allowed to go to school? like what the fuck is pretending that men don't benefit from the patriarchy going to do about all of that other than lead you through the tall grass and ignoring the real issues here????
OMG I CAN HAZ TUMBLR

Europeans slowly burning in the inferno built by centuries of their continent's financial power and genocidal gluttony: 'no, the only solution is 10 billion more AC units'.
agonizing over all the time you wasted or lost is useless. it’s gone now. you survived in the only way you knew how. doesn’t your survival deserve some recognition too?
like toni morrison said, “sometimes you don't survive whole, you just survive in part. but the grandeur of life is that attempt. it’s not about that solution. it is about being as fearless as one can, and behaving as beautifully as one can, under completely impossible circumstances.”
