Hi there! Right off the bat, this is a fan made blog dedicated to welcoming people who are new to the Redacted Audio fandom.
The channel has so many great audios and storylines! Like, a lot of audios. A lot. It can be daunting to try and figure out where to start, which ones to listen to and which ones that you, personally, should skip when following a particular storyline.
So! I'm here to help you figure out all of that. Specifically, I'll help:
curate a playlist with relevant audios for you
catch you up on lore that you may have missed out on
introduce you to the fandom and it's history, general etiquette, need-to-know past issues and other going-ons.
make you feel welcome. Like, your guidance councilor at DAMN, or something (minus the qualifications).

It was on the Empowered news so at some point so Avior and Starlight did eventually get the news out. DUMP probably downplayed it and said it was a long ways off which is why the pack/vamps/damn haven't been worried about it but Dreamer has an active imagination and since it was implied as a semi-futuristic setting, they "amplified the threat" so they could save the world
this may be a big ask !! im trying to start a redacted d&d campaign with my friends (who know nothing about redacted) ! firstly, i recall a couple months ago seeing posts about someone doing a redacted d&d campaign, if you know them or know of them and if they’re willing to help plz lmk !!! secondly, i want to refresh myself on lore before going ham on this campaign. a playlist for inversion/closeknit relevant lore up to summer of 2023 would be so perfect ! again, sorry if this is too big of an ask !! just had to check ! thank u :)

As for the inversion/closeknit playlist, it will take me at least a few days to form one. I would also LOVE some help with this, because lore drops about both are scattered across videos. I don't want to miss anything important.

Ah, the elusive William Solaire... he doesn't appear a lot, but he has a huge influence over Vincent, Porter and Sam and is mentioned a lot in their playlists. Keep in mind that the audios and other media I am about to recommend will contain spoilers for Vincent, Porter and Sam's playlists.

I can't recall where I read this info, I'm sorry, but I'm fairly certain that William Solaire had a romantic partner who did not survive the 1908 Monarchal Summit. To get a summary of William's background and lore without having to listen to multiple audios for scraps, the official timeline outlines key events in canon. Type "William" into the search function on the site to read more of William's background and life.
I may add more information to this playlist when I am made aware of more significant mentions or William. There are a lot of audios to look through for only a few scraps of lore, but I think I covered the major points of interest. I hope this is suffiecient.
I have also not gotten to play the Murder Mystery Game myself so my information is 2nd hand but
Someone who purchased the game was kind enough to share the digital drive of character profiles with lorehounds like myself. I have it on good authority that it made several people more interested in the game and at least one has also purchased it to play.
I forget exactly who it was that shared the drive but if they are still active in the fandom and see this, thank you!
Marion Solaire does exist! They were present for the 1908 Murder Mystery Summit. They were William's right hand and (I belive the term used was) "occasional bedfellow". The Mystery in question is who killed their sister at the previous Summit.
I believe they died at some point before Alexis was turned but it was not at the 1908 Summit.
Technically, I'm not new to redacted ASMR, BUT... I do want to know more about wolf shifters and what they can do. I genuinely love hearing about wolf shifters and wolves in general.

Deep Lore on Wolf Shifters
There isn't a lot that separates Wolves from the rest of Shifters, other than their habit of forming Wolf Shifter packs. Depending on the culture and beliefs of a pack, they may welcome other unempowered humans and other magic users, including other Shifters.
We are yet to learn how other Shifters connect with each other (group dynamics, solitary life or something else).
Wolf Shifter Lore

Type of magic and creator: Shifter magic is a specific type of Transmutation magic; their Transmutation magic manifests itself in a unique way. The Sovereign responsible for creating Shifters is Oto’Enid. Source: Ep.3 timestamp 6:52 - 7:44.
Mechanics / how it works: "Shifters are physically extrinsic magic users, one of only two specialties that are. Everybody else is intrinsic. And to be extrinsic means that their magic is not solely stored in their core, but instead is infused through every part of their body." A shifter's core receives threads of power and redistributes the magic throughout their entire body, allowing them to achieve the degree of transformation that a non-shifters' core is not refined enough to achieve. Hierarchy: omegas are not a confirmed rank. I felt like adding this because any new fans may have heard David mention them in passing; this was unserious or a concept that Erik was considering early on but was seemingly scrapped. Alpha and Beta are confirmed ranks, and Asher once referred to the other wolves in a pack as "pledge" level.

but when posting nsfw things on the main redacted tag, is there any way yall could start putting a cut?
i ask this because 1: there are people who just don’t really want to be seeing that kind of content, and 2: there are minors here, minors who i think deserve a choice and warning when it comes to seeing that type of content
and this isn’t to say you shouldn’t be posting that content, because let’s be honest, it’s a pillar of this fandom haha, i do just think it would be best to have a cut

Theoretically, what can Dreamwalkers do outside of a dreamworld. I know in them, they can bend and shape it to whatever their mind will let them, be that as Elliott coming up with silly themed ones and Dreamer subconsciously shaping Marcus' one without even realizing it, but...
What could that do outside of, y'know, that. In the real world, I guess, is a better way of putting it.
I never really got to watch the streams of Erik talking about all that, like his birthday ones or ones similar to that bc the timing wasn't right, so if anyone knows, pls,,,
I know that they can learn other magics but in talking about how their own works outside of a dream.
So there's nothing specific to dreamwalking that can be done in the waking world aside from putting people to sleep/waking them up
A Dreamwalker could probably use Illusory magic to create an illusion of their dreamscape in the waking world but it's not going to feel as real as it would in the dreamscape
Which is probably where (per Lincoln's latest audio) Dreamer may have gotten the idea that their magic isn't "real")
And unless anyone else trains at it really hard, they probably can't do much more than put someone to sleep with Dream magic. It's one of the more complicated magic types to learn because a Dreamwalker's brain is wired so specifically to be able to create and manipulate dreams (as explained by Elliott)
Getting into the city-gritty nuance of Dream magic:
I don't remember which character said this, but an incredibly capable Dreamwalker's magic can put you to sleep and you wouldn't even know it. You could be placed into a dreamscape and spend time there, then wake up later not even realising that it was a dream.
This is where Elliot's job comes in, for people who need their unconscious mind to be fortified against unwanted dream magic because they may be carrying sensitive information or because they are a powerful person whose important decisions could be influenced in their dreams.
To sum it up, while dreamwalker magic doesn't interact directly with the physical, waking world all that much, it offers some powerful ways to manipulate a person by inserting events into their reality.

Voyeur; a person who obtains sexual pleasure or excitement from the observation of someone undressing, having intercourse, etc
When Freelancer first met Gavin, he was engaging in public oral sex with another man, and caught Freelancer staring at the interaction.
Gavin could sense their attraction to him, so he teased them about it by calling them a voyeur, which is widely regarded as a form of sexual deviancy (hence the name 'deviant').
Those nicknames stuck, especially since the couple continued to engage in other forms of bdsm.
What are obsessed cards? Are they like real physical mail and if so how long are they? Also how personalised are they and how different are they from character to character? Just weighing out my options of if I should pay for that patreon tier because the cards are the thing I’m most interested in.
You can choose whether you want physical & digital or just digital. As far as customization goes, if you choose to also have a physical version then you get to have the card addressed to whatever name you choose and that’s about it. The digital cards cannot be customized.
I’ve only opted for digital so I don’t know if the envelopes or cards are special in any way, but I’m going to heavily assume that they are not and that theyre just printed versions of what you receive digitally
The cards themselves are pretty short (about a small paragraph) but sometimes they give the tiniest bit of lighthearted lore—e.g. that Babe is Asher’s first serious relationship or that Damien reached out to Dear after they first got introduced. They’re mostly just for fun! Every month you get a card for free but if you want any more you have to buy them
Each character has a different font/“handwriting” and write ..like themselves and how you’d expect. Usually their cards relate to their recent video or something really small (some are basically just “I love youuu” but in more words)
For April we got some minor spoilers for Fooliverse and we knew what Damien and Huxley were doing before their videos came out (as well as someone else who might come soon-?) but usually they do not pertain to who will come out in the video rotations

Where to Find Them
You may have heard about some audios through the grapevine, but they are missing from the character's playlist on the Redacted Audio channel. Not to worry! They are all free on Patreon.
Note that a canon audio that was removed from a character's playlist has a place in that playlist. The playlist will have a short filler video showing that a video from that place between the other videos in the playlist. That is how you determine the order to listen to these removed audios.
Format; start with the character's name. Then bullet points, which contain links (green) that go directly to a Patreon audio, and a brief description of the audio in brackets which can outline the audio's chronological place in a playlist, the HBS/HBW year, or which canon universe it's set in (e.g. Imperium Universe, Fooliverse, Non-Canon).
Audios are more or less in chronological order, however some were reuploaded to patreon at the same time, therefore the order is unclear. These have been marked with '***' so if you know what order any of the marked audios should be in, let me know!

Why They Were Removed
In September or 2022, YouTube threw a hissyfit and removed a number of videos from Redacted Audio's channel for overstepping the guidelines regarding adult content. Technically justified, given the content, but it was quite frustrating for the fans and for Erik to deal with.
The channel was temporarily banned from releasing new videos as a result. Once the ban was over, Erik continued releasing videos as normal. There have been a few more bans since.
When a channel is temporarily banned, there is a period of time afterwards that the channel must not violate any guidelines or the channel will be permanently removed. With this in mind, Erik released the 2025 HBS audios on Patreon so that he could continue writing and releasing more steamy content while working in the YouTube post-ban timeframe. If that makes sense?
To this I would like to add a temporary solution (I don't have Patreon so I don't know which of the removed audios are also being removed from patreon)
During the Purge in september Erik put the videos in this page, during the time when he was scrambling to figure out what to do. Mind you this is before he made them public in his patreon so the only things so it's only the older stuff until 2022. The content that's available is:
MISC: A playlist that contains removed videos that can be found in patreon and are important to their respective boy's storyline (Plus the infamous Nick the Neko)
PATREON PREVIEWS: For the new members of the fandom this are the old previews we used to get before the censorship strucked for the first time.
HOT BOY SUMMER 21' & 22': These are two different playlists, they have all the content of the first version of HBS and the original audios as they were in YouTube.
HOT BOY WINTER: The first edition of HBW the only audio that isn't here is the Solstice party of the pack that, if I'm not mistaken, remains intact in YouTube
He is a reclusive person, fairly practical and blunt, but he's got a soft side with the few people he cares about.
Sam grew up in the South. He didn't have a very good home life so he left it all behind and moved to Dahlia in his late teens.
He was turned into a vampire at 29 years old, and has been a vampire for 13 years. Without spoiling too much, Sam hasn't let himself get very close with anyone since being turned. He was turned against his will by someone who was an important person in his life.
Before he was turned, Sam was an empowered freelancer. Basically, he was capable of the full scope of magic but never at a specialist's level. He studied magic at the Academy in Dahlia, and he became a healer. He was extremely good at it.
Sam is a member of the Vampire House known as the Solaire Clan / House of Solaire.
Top five things to know about Sam's listener!
Sam calls his listener Darlin'. They are referred to with they/them pronouns and are kept gender neutral.
They are a wolf shifter (aka werewolf) and is part of the Shaw Pack.
Darlin's relationship with the Pack is distant. Darlin never got very close to anyone in the pack because they didn't grow up together like the others did. Their family joined the pack when they were a teenager.
They are very independent and even reckless, at times. They are a driving force in the plot and have much more influence over their story than most listener characters.
When they meet Sam, he is living a fairly uneventful life for a vampire, while Darlin' is hunting another vampire— a violent and criminal ex boyfriend— who they are hopping to settle the score with.

Themes: Sam and Darlin have a strong plotline which focusses on healing from past mistakes and old wounds. Be aware that some videos delve into heavy topics including unhealthy relationships, varying levels of violence, past trauma and abuse, and manipulative antagonists with habits of victim blaming. Always prepare yourself by reading the content warnings in the video description 💪
Cross-over characters: Because Sam and Darlin are part of larger social groups, we sometimes hear other character's in Sam's playlist. Luckily, we are almost always given enough context to understand who another character is in Sam's playlist, but for reference:

Are you new to the fandom?: Skip the 7 videos labelled "Inversion" in the titles. These videos are in many character's playlists because they feature many characters and center around one pivotal event. This can be disorienting when you don't recognize everyone yet and when you don't have a good understanding of magic in this universe...
Not to worry! I am drafting a post that summarizes the Inversion videos. It will likely include timestamps for every character appearance and a summary of what happens to each character. For now, just know that the "Inversion" event is a fairly graphic tragedy that occurred during the Elemental and Energetic Games awards ceremony.
So Erik has taken some audios down from patreon to be more in accordance with Patreons terms of service. Anyone that uses my Great Purge Master Doc will notice that these audios no open on Patreon.

Where to Find Them
You may have heard about some audios through the grapevine, but they are missing from the character's playlist on the Redacted Audio channel. Not to worry! They are all free on Patreon.
Note that a canon audio that was removed from a character's playlist has a place in that playlist. The playlist will have a short filler video showing that a video from that place between the other videos in the playlist. That is how you determine the order to listen to these removed audios.
Format; start with the character's name. Then bullet points, which contain links (green) that go directly to a Patreon audio, and a brief description of the audio in brackets which can outline the audio's chronological place in a playlist, the HBS/HBW year, or which canon universe it's set in (e.g. Imperium Universe, Fooliverse, Non-Canon).
Audios are more or less in chronological order, however some were reuploaded to patreon at the same time, therefore the order is unclear. These have been marked with '***' so if you know what order any of the marked audios should be in, let me know!

Why They Were Removed
In September or 2022, YouTube threw a hissyfit and removed a number of videos from Redacted Audio's channel for overstepping the guidelines regarding adult content. Technically justified, given the content, but it was quite frustrating for the fans and for Erik to deal with.
The channel was temporarily banned from releasing new videos as a result. Once the ban was over, Erik continued releasing videos as normal. There have been a few more bans since.
When a channel is temporarily banned, there is a period of time afterwards that the channel must not violate any guidelines or the channel will be permanently removed. With this in mind, Erik released the 2025 HBS audios on Patreon so that he could continue writing and releasing more steamy content while working in the YouTube post-ban timeframe. If that makes sense?
Nick is a one-off character with no connection to any other plot, so you don't have to worry about where (when?) he places in the timeline.
He has one free episode available on Patreon linked here. It was a joke audio for April fools day, but is technically canon. He also has a bonus audio for the SO+ tier Patreon users.
In September of 2022, YouTube removed a huge chunk of videos from Redacted Audio for violating the YT guidelines (they were too spicy). Nick's video was among these, so Erik made public all the removed videos onto Patreon. This is known in the fandom as the great youtube purge of 2022.
Spoilers for lore below the cut (who Nick is and what his empowered/unempowered status is):
Nick is a human freelancer who dabbles in shifter magic. He is not very good at it, but he manages to give himself cat ears and a tail.
He likes to convince his unempowered partners that he is a real neko (cat person) so they'll be more attracted to his 'cute and submissive' demeanor.
Matt (his roommate of two weeks) has to deal with the fallout, particularly with handling the covert breach.
The two of them end up as a couple after the final time Nick is caught pulling his neko stunt. Turns out that Nick was acting out to get his attention, and Matt was pining for Nick as well.
