People on this website have talked a lot about how the "I hate my wife" style of 'humor' sucks but can we also talk about "I hate my kids" 'humor'?
Cause uh. I remember being a kid. Those little guys who're still developing their self-image notice when their parents are routinely 'joking' about being burdened by them, and telling the people who have possibly more power over you than anyone else, "hey that joke really hurt me, please don't joke about that" is a fucking risk a lot of the time
"Because I Love You" by Lex Marie.
She spent hours upon hours just beating the canvas with a belt...
when you look at the finished painting, you can almost see letters - but there aren't any. It's all noise. a lot of adults process this sort of beating by insisting there is a lesson in it. with the title and artist statement in mind, it's like they're trying to read a message of love written in that chaotic canvas.
Gonna get some majorrrrr mother in law points..... Her birthday is this week and I made her this handbag that's lined with the same fabric that my husband's baby blanket was made from. She's gonna cry.
Albert Square, Manchester (1910) by Adolphe Valette | Contemporary Art (2015) by Emily Allchurch
the top is an original, from 1910, the bottom is a new version painted in 2015
THE BOTTOM IS A PAINTING????
also does a really good job reminding the view just how much air quality has improved since we stopped burning coal in every building lol

I remember one time I was doing an ADHD evaluation with a kid who had asked to go to the bathroom like 3 times during the 30-ish minute part of the interview where we asked his mom questions, so I knew that was his go-to excuse when bored. We get started on the WISC-V after the interview and within 30 seconds of vocab starting he asks if he can go to the bathroom, and I say:
“No.”
And this kid rolls his eyes because DUH and he says “Why not?” all cranky-styles, so I said
“Because you don’t need to go to the bathroom, you’re bored and you need to move. If you need to move, tell me and I’ll let you know if we’re at a part of the test where we can pause. Like, for example, we can pause right now if you wanna race me around the building.”
And this kids face fucken LIT up. We did three laps around the outside of the building and came back in and he finished like 3 subtests and asked if he could move so we got up and tried to see how high we could jump for 3 minutes and the finished the rest of the assessment with one bathroom break. And that was all it took tbh, this kid was SO capable he just needed to move and hadn’t been allowed to do so before. I also like making people mad by pointing out that I know what they’re up to, then just giving them permission to do the thing they were sneakily trying to do in the first place. It’s like being affectionately annoying and it’s part of how I connect to others.
the beef will be thawed I swear to you
CRINE
FIH NO THAT IS A BAD IDEA
to the dishwasher beef doubters, I wish you a phenomenal rest of your weekend. I mean that genuinely
So many people never learned to live with harmless discomfort at any point in their lives and holy fuck does it show
“But I wanna know!” You’re gonna have to learn to be ok with not knowing some things, especially when those things involve personal details about strangers that they’re not comfortable sharing.
“But it’s confusing!” If you take the time to educate yourself it’ll no longer be confusing. Otherwise you’re just gonna have to learn to be ok with being confused.
“But it’s weird!” You probably do weird things all the time. Everyone does weird things sometimes. Life goes on.
“But it scares me!” Is it hurting you? No? You’ll be fine. Being scared and being harmed are not always the same thing. Learn to tell the difference and then act accordingly.
“But I want it!” And I want a million dollars. You can’t always get what you want.
A lot of people were also never told “no” as children and the consequences of that manifest in similar ways. Learn to be ok with being told “no.” You’re not gonna die if you don’t get your way in every single situation ever.
Why are so many of you so comfortable with attacking complete strangers on the internet
If you wouldn't approach a random stranger on the street and say those kinds of things to them, but you feel completely comfortable saying those kinds of things to a perfect stranger on the internet (behind the safety of a screen free of consequences for your words), maybe you need to take a good long look in the mirror and revaluate your life.
If the only thing stopping you from verbally attacking strangers or just being unnecessarily mean is the threat of consequences, and not the fact that they are another human being with feelings, then perhaps you should consider why that is and what that says about you.

A lot of the 'parental rights' stuff does weird me out like- theres definitely some stuff that is seen as 'normal' parenting that puts kids at risk outside of conversion therapy (which is my main focus.)
But like... featuring your kids in your mommy lifestyle blog? Forcing your kids to follow career paths that dont suit them? Preventing your kid from identifying signs of abuse because 'everything is fine?'
Even households that arent abusive can violate a kid's agency. Being a parent is hard, and coming at it from a perspective of ownership instead of responsibility hurts everyone involved. So laws that center the wellbeing of the child instead of the rights of the parent seem to be a no-brainer to me.
What if instead of calling them 'gender neutral' bathrooms we called them 'fully enclosed bathrooms?' Because like... every gender neutral bathroom ive been in that was built for that purpose was so super private and it was awesome.
yesss girl I'm sure that the ones behind the heroin chick extreme thinness rebrand are very normal tiktok teenage girls and it doesn't have anything to do with the rise of ultra disciplinary far right anti women rights/bodily autonomy movements being in power just when things where starting to switch around
The first leg hair I saw on a woman was my own hair on my own legs. My mum is very naturally hairless and I knew like one woman who didn’t shave her armpits. When people talk about just preferring being shaved and doing it for themselves I do wonder like, how many women with body hair have you ever actually seen? In real life or not? Because I feel like there are places you could go nearly your whole life only seeing your own, and then hardly ever even seeing your own because you’re always shaving it! And it’s just like well yeah of course having no body hair just feels right to you. You have no frame of reference for hairy women outside of like jokes and insults.

love her work
she still makes these and they’ve only grown more wonderful over the years. The wood-fired surfaces really give them life.
love these lil guys
Me too!
honestly the main reason i care about harm reduction is that i believe addicts are deserving of life. "what if they don't get clean?" they still deserve to live. "what if they don't contribute?" they still deserve to live. "what if they 'abuse' the system?" they still deserve to live.
addicts deserve to live by virtue of them being human. nothing will change that. nobody deserves to die of an overdose.
