"forgor" did irreversible damage didn't it
the current administration would totally fall for the Trojan horse. they'd take promo pictures of it on the white house lawn and the president would be on TV talking about how it's made of a big beautiful American lumber or some shit.
the internet is a place for reading wikipedia articles and watching every movie for free. social media is an invasive species. never forget this

“Do it afraid” I do everything that way! I’d like to do it normal for once thanks!
I've done it afraid for 34 years I'd like for the alleged not being afraid to kick in for once thanks!
I know this is a deeply American thing to say but I am begging everyone to stay the fuck away from military recruiters. Especially high school kids. You are going to be seeing an unholy amount of them in schools or around schools or literally anywhere kids are known to congregate. THIS INCLUDES ALL FORMS OF ROTC. Stay the fuck away from military recruiters. As someone who’s familiar with entirely too many branches through entirely too many friends and family, including my partner, recruiters are authorized to say literally any fucking thing they think will make you sign on that line. They cannot and will not deliver on those promises. They need bodies for the war they’re pretending is only now starting up again. That’s all you are. A body. Stay the FUCK away from the military.
I feel like we need to talk more about how fucking boring depression can be. I pick up a book and can’t read more than a few sentences, a chapter if I’m lucky, before I can’t focus. I knit two rows of something and then can’t continue. I scroll through all the different options of shows I haven’t watched without clicking on any of them. I hop from app to app looking for content that will spark literally any single emotion. It’s not even 10am and I already feel like I’m just waiting until it’s time to go back to bed.
I hate it I hate it I hate it

making a collection
Wait I have more
hey asshole. i can feel you skipping through my dialogue. did you even consider how that might make me feel
Things that will never make me think less of someone: Enjoying media, entertainment, or aesthetics with ideologically reactionary elements
Things that will IMMEDIATELY make me think less of someone: Insisting that the ideologically reactionary media, entertainment, or aesthetics they enjoy are actually Le Hecking Epic Wholesome Leftist Praxis
To draw upon a semi-recent Discourse topic, if you encounter a claim along the lines that, idk, for example, the imagery and cultural idea of Knights as it exists in pop culture is entrenched with a long history of islamophonia (due to how much of this cultural imaginary comes directly from the narrative of the Crusades) and your response is "I still think knight imagery is cool, I don't enjoy things based on how ideologically correct they are" I'll respect you infinitely more than if your response was "Actually liking knights is leftist because there's nothing more leftist than protecting those weaker than you"
"I don't engage with this thing to have my politics parroted back at me" will always be 1000x more graceful and productive than trying to argue that everything you like is Fundamentally Leftist, Actually.
Let’s not forget to acknowledge Alexandre Dumas this Black History Month
The writer of two of the most well known stories worldwide, The Three Musketeers and The Count of Monte Cristo was a black man.Â
That’s excellence.
Let’s not forget that he was played on screen by a white man. And the fact that he was black is barely ever mentioned or the book he wrote inspired by his experiences.
Other things not to forget about Alexandre Dumas:
chose to take on his slave grandmother’s last name, Dumas, like his father did before him.
grew up too poor for formal education, so was largely self-taught, including becoming a prolific reader, multilingual, well-travelled, and a foodie, resulting in his writing both a combination encyclopedia/cookbook (which just— is fucking outrageous to me) AND the adaptation of The Nutcracker on which Tchaikovsky based his ballet
he also wrote a LOOOOT of nonfiction and fiction about history, politics, and revolution, bc he was pro-monarchy, but a radical cuss, and that got him in a lot of hot water at home and abroad.
even beyond that, he generally put up with a lot of racist bullshit in France, so he went and wrote a novel about colonialism and a BLATANTLY self-insert anti-slavery vigilante hero (which he then cribbed from to write the Count of Monte Cristo, the main character of which, Edmond Dantés, Dumas also based on himself).
(…a novel which also features a LOAD of PoC beyond the Count, and at LEAST one queer character, btw, bc EVERY MOVIE ADAPTATION OF ANYTHING BY DUMAS IS A LIE; seriously, at LEAST one of the four Musketeers is Black, y'all.)
famously, when some fuckshit or other wanted to come at Dumas with some anti-Black foolishness, Dumas replied, “My father was a mulatto, my grandfather was a Negro, and my great-grandfather a monkey. You see, Sir, my family starts where yours ends.”
for the bicentennial of his birthday, Pres. Jacques Cirac was like, “…sorry about the hella racism,” and had Dumas’s ashes reinterred at the Panthéon of Paris, bc if you’re gonna keep the corpses of the cream of the crop all together, Dumas’s more widely read and translated than literally everybody else.
and they are still finding stuff old dude wrote, seriously; like discovering “lost” works as recently as 2002, publishing stuff for the first time as recently as 2005.
ALSO IMPORTANT:
SWAG
I am absolutely ashamed to admit I had NO idea Dumas was black.
when this post first went around (a year ago apparently) I was like BUT WHAT ABOUT DADDY DUMAS THOUGHÂ because basically
daddy general dumas was an immense fierce french warrior who was a 6 foot plus, stunningly gorgeous and charismatic Black gentlemanÂ
he invaded egypt
the native egyptians said “is this napoleon? this must be napoleon. we for one welcome our majestic new overlord”
then napoleon showed up
napoleon has all the presence of yesterday’s plain Tesco hummus
the native egyptians were like “… no… no, we’ve thought very hard and we’ll have General Dumas actually”
this did not make napoleon happy
in fact it made him jealous
napoleon felt so emasculated that he launched a campaign of revenge against General Dumas, including taking away his pension, that probably inspired a lot of Alexandre’s rather satisfying scenes in which fathers are nobly avenged and the money-grubbing villains are rubbed in the mud
I was never taught that he was Black either. WTF.
General Dumas (aka Thomas Alexandre Davy de La Pailleterie) looked like this…
…and like this…
…while “Napoleon has all the presence of yesterday’s plain Tesco hummus“…
:-D
I suspect Alexandre Dumas would have laughed at that, because besides looking like someone who laughed a lot…
…he was also a foodie.
He was also born in present-day Haiti. Back then, it was the French colony of Saint-Domingue.
General Dumas was also the highest ranking officer of African descent to have command of a European army. EVER.Â

I think the best part of this blog is the fact that online spaces have been trying to act like the trans community is divided and that transmascs and transfems are inherently opposed to each other, meanwhile every other ask in my inbox or addition on my posts completely debunks this.
Transmascs are loving and supporting their transfem partners or friends or family and vice versa, they’re swapping clothes with each other or helping each other with their HRT injections or buying each other plushies and cute little trinkets, they’re playing video games with each other, asking each other out, dating and marrying each other, they’re saying such beautiful words about each other hoping that the other will read them and smile, they’re protecting each other from transphobes or helping them to escape their families or offering them a place to stay and a couch to crash on, they’re sharing music recs and teaching each other new skills and creating new things together. They’re meeting and talking and laughing and sharing and building new lives together.
Never let anyone tell you that the community is divided. There is so much solidarity out there, happening every second, and it will continue happening until the end of time.
Transmascs and transfems loving each other forever and always, okay?
“Loneliness epidemic” this and that. You’re in a machine that produces loneliness brother. What about the loneliness machine
Not to be like "the orientals don't experience loneliness" because of course we do, and it's not like capitalism doesn't exist here, we're speedrunning it even and it's shit to be sure. But every time I come back home and spend enough time here to readjust I'm struck by how hostile north america is wrt sociality in many little ways. The built environment, the valorization of car travel at the expense of public transport, the sterilizing regulations around what you can and cannot do in public spaces (& the apparent pleasure regular people get out of strictly policing these spaces), the massive "convenience" industry built on the idea that you never have to leave your house if you have enough money to pay to exploit the underclass, the "work from home" white collar fantasies, the "I never want to talk to my uber driver, five stars if you don't say a word" shit, everyone and their mothers on their little "mental health" walks with their noise cancelling headphones, not to mention the circle jerk self therapy talk that sells people the fiction that you can "fix yourself" in total isolation, the paywalling of friendships, people referring to their therapists as their friends..I feel like it all adds up. The loneliness is not a bug it's a feature. Is it any surprise then that tourists from such places holiday "over here" and can't stop going on about how "lively" and "chaotic" cities are in a way that's almost fetishizing normal ass human behaviour and the friction that exists as a basic part of life
