βThe Ghetto Tarotβ: Haitian artists transform classic tarot deck into stunning real life scenes:
Welcome to the Ghetto Tarot, a project from award-winning documentary photographer Alice Smeets and a group of Haitian artists known as Atis Rezistans. The idea was to take the classic Rider-Waite tarot deck of 78 cards and create a photographic version of each card using settings and objects in the vibrant ghetto of Haiti.
As Smeets says, βThe spirit of the Ghetto Tarot project is the inspiration to turn negative into positive while playing. The group of artists βAtiz Rezistansβ use trash to create art with their own visions that are a reflection of the beauty they see hidden within the waste. They are claiming the word βGhetto,β thus freeing themselves of its depreciating undertone and turning it into something beautiful.β

Wild how no one made announcements like this about P.Diddy when his trial was happening.
Wild how abusive artists like Micheal Jackson can have biography movies made and not a single mention of accused abuses or the subsequent trials will be mentioned.
Hmmmm I wonder why people feel the need to explicitly condemn women and any action they may have possibly been a part of (like inviting a shitty guy to your wedding) yet do not extend this same behavior to men in the same industry who commit abuse and atrocities on a much larger scale π€?
Imagine jumping to Taylor Swiftβs defense in the name of feminism when we know about the insane gender-based violence and sexual abuse in detention centers.
Women in detention centers donβt have access to gynecological care even if theyβre pregnant, some male guards will ask for sexual favors in exchange for basic hygiene productsβ¦ the list goes on.
But poor Taylor Swift is the true victim here I guess.
someone PLEASE call the gay people police !!!!!!! a queer woman of color is talking about being horny for women guys please we NEED to stop this quick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's a lot healthier to go for a daily walk than to sign up for a gym membership you won't be using because you hate that kind of exercise. It's a lot healthier to eat a frozen meal than to skip a meal because you were too tired to cook something healthy. It's a lot healthier to take a quick shower than to procrastinate an elaborate routine for days. Don't aim so high that you won't be hitting anything!

Disclaimer: We are not the voice for all Asians in the world! We are just two people!! Also racism against Asians is called orientalism. Now you know!
Do I count as Asian? We can't answer that for you, we don't know you. Here's a list of Asian countries though.
What are your 'credentials'? Only answering here so I don't get asked more invasively in the future. I am Taiwanese American with a lifetime's experience of being Asian. I have lived in Japan for two years. Despite my knowledge being East Asian-heavy, this remains a blog for all Asians, and our research and blog content will reflect that. As for Mod Mira, she is (South) Indian American and was raised across the states, so her experiences and knowledge are more tied to the South Asian/Desi diaspora.
Can we tag this blog in posts? Of course! If you have any posts that are relevant or interesting and would like us to reblog, please feel free to tag us!
Do you have a Ko-Fi or Paypal I could donate to? I do not, but I reblog fundraisers for Asians and people of color frequently. Please donate to them.
Note about Sending/Submitting Asks: You donβt have to be shy about sending in asks, thatβs why we have anon mode on! However, we do expect common courtesy and basic human decency when having discussions. Being impolite or overtly passive aggressive to us (this is specified because peopleβs tones can naturally vary) or potentially to others wonβt be tolerated. We are not your proxy for disagreements you may have with other people here either. This doesnβt mean you canβt have criticism, that is totally valid! Differing opinions makes for more productive conversation, but donβt treat us differently than how you would people in real life (following the golden rule of treating others the way youβd want to be treated). And finally, remember to capitalize proper nouns such as Asians, specific Asian ethnic groups, etc. when you send in asks, otherwise they will be deleted.
really sick of all that shit i keep seeing on instagram about the world cup being like "americas sleepover" and people are like "im so happy people are coming to visit to see america isnt all that bad!!"
nobody has ever fucking said that living or visiting the US sucks for white people. its not fucking about them
in response to people saying things like "men aren't allowed to cry in public, unlike women" other people will then say things like "women are penalized, not rewarded, for public displays of emotionβthe fact that women are presumed to be overly emotional & irrational is misogyny, not a privilege"
which is often true but like, it's contextual innit. lest we discount the phenomenon of White Woman Tears
I've recently had white women in professional contexts tell me that they were quote "hurt" and "gutted" by what amounted to very minor professional faux pas on my part. I remember reading a white woman academic's essay on Jane Eyre that began with recounting her emotional upset upon having Jane Eyre "taken away from her" by postcolonial / anti-racist scholarship. white women's emotions do have currency in personal and professional spaces in selective contexts, i.e. when wielded against people of colour π€·π½ββοΈ

I just wish weβd had some way of knowing that the Nazi tattooed bigot who did mercenary work for Blackwater and was abusive to the women he had relationships with was a bad guy before heβd gotten this far. If only weβd had some sort of visual warning for who Graham Platner was. If only he might have had something on his body that could tell us he was no good, before we let him run this long. Hindsightβs 20 fucking 20 I guess though huh

I hope I don't ever have to hear "racism is an American thing" and "there's less racism in Europe" ever again π the fact that it wasn't enough that people just had regular experiences with racism to be believable, it took seeing literal white supremacist riots?? Okay. No more "they're European so their politics-" are the og source of racism, yes. ππΎ
