you need to understand that i have two sets of headcanons. there's the set of realistic headcanons based on my genuine reading of the show, and then there's me playing pretend with my dolls.

aight ik it's cringe..... but are there any women you guys watch on YouTube for gaming? :(
i can only find women who are like... rated G and their main audience is kids. i wanna hear a chick cussing and being rowdy y'feel?
all of the art channels or DIY channels i follow are ladies, but i wanna get more chicks to follow around gaming. sick of men in every form of media tbh 🤪
maybe sweet anita? I know her from her tourettes content so i'm not sure if her gaming stuff is on youtube or just twitch but her content isn't geared towards kids.
I just want to remind feminists that anorexia isn't necessarily about dieting - most "pro ana" content is from dieters, not women with eating disorders. It's a coping mechanism. Starvation is soothing for a minority of people. Anorexics demonstrate atypical brain activity to pleasure and reward even at a restored healthy weight. Food is a huge part of our lives and we have salty, fatty, calorie dense, low nutrient foods pushed on us in western countries. We learn early to gravitate to high volume intakes. We learn to associate food with tradition, family, friends, and fun. There are a minority of people who subvert this impression to feel better through denial. It does not work! It makes us feel worse long term! It ruins lives! Anorexia has the highest mortality rate of any mental illness and most anorexics don't die of heart failure but suicide. Which is why I don't want everyone to reduce anorexia to a diet gone wrong and social pressures to be thin. Disordered eating is a problem on its own without being the same as starving yourself to death long past the point of svelte attractiveness because it's a compulsion.
why does this particular compulsion disproportionately affect women (in comparison to other issues like ocd which are still disproportionate but not to this degree)
Anorexia is also more common in countries where the beauty standard is thin. In some countries anorexia was virtually unheard of until those countries were exposed to Western media via television. The fact anorexia is a severe mental illness doesn't contradict the fact there are societal influences to it. Gay male anorexics are also overrepresented in the male anorexic pool, which is likely a result of the gay community having a different beauty standard from mainstream Western culture. The ideal of the "twink" is not part of mainstream masculine beauty standards. It is true that anorexia is also compulsive for many. It is even associated with OCD and perfectionism. The neurology also indeed shows food does not activate the pleasure centre in the brain of an anorexic whereas it does for regular people. That doesn't mean people are born with anorexia. It is likely a result of neuroplasticity which means successful recovery is possible. But none of this seperates anorexia from societal standards of beauty. Most anorexics are young (young people tend to care more about appearances) and female (self-evident)
Sure, but binge eating disorder is more common than anorexia, including in the United States where thinness is the beauty standard. I wouldn't argue that anorexia is never triggered/exacerbated by pressures to be thin, but in my experience it's more often a trauma response, either similar to how anon described it, or (anecdotally) after women are sexually assaulted as a way to disappear and stop being sexually desirable by getting rid of flesh and breasts. I know of women who have the exact same thought process leading to BED too, wanting to get so large that you can't be hurt. The gender ratio for BED is also skewed 2:1 women to men (although it's around 5:1 for bulimia nervosa).
“You will find that the priest who damns you is a man; that the legislator who oppresses you is a man, that the husband who reduces you to an object is a man; that the libertine [anarchist] who harasses you is a man; that the capitalist who enriches himself with your ill- paid work and the speculator who calmly pockets the price of your body, are men.”
— Anna Maria Mozzoni, one of the most popular Italian feminist theorists and activists of the nineteenth century, 1895.
What if when we were born we were each assigned a Wikipedia page like a social security number would that be fucked up or what
do you mean a wikipedia page about us? or do you mean some baby is arbitrarily given the rights and responsibilities to update the paramecium article?
ok I did mean a Wikipedia page about us. But keep talking I like where you’re headed
What's your government-assigned Wikipedia page? (No rerolls. I am in charge of "1929 in Wales" now. Not a great year, some bad floods in November.)

The European witch trials were a genocide against women you can't change my mind
the fact that they targeted single and widowed women just proves that they were trying to eradicate a specific subset of women; those who knew it was very possible to live without men, and hell, those who even preferred it.
A literal holocaust.
Does anyone have any interesting books on this?
Caliban and the Witch by Silvia Frederici
Frederici has recently come out with a new book I have yet to read called Witches, Witch Hunting, and Women, but the desc sounds good.
I'm downloading it now and will update when I'm done!
In Caliban, she also essentially, from my understanding, situates herself and ideas halfway between socialist feminists and radical feminists, criticizing both in some ways and also agreeing with both in others. Her analysis is based on how the witch trials were used as tools of oppression against women between the shift from feudalism to capitalism, so it's an economical look at it. It's good! Would recommend
I think there's an audiobook of it on bandcamp for free too
caliban and the witch is really interesting but there are also a lot of historical inaccuracies and parts that are purposefully misleading. I'm a history major and this is one of the texts that we discussed in class, so I'll list some of the issues below:
She claims that the hatred of prostitutes is new and didn't exist in the middle ages, which is entirely false.
When talking about numbers, she says that some feminists say that 9 million women were killed but she'll use the conservative number 100,000, but the 9 million number has no basis in fact so bringing it up is just meant to change the reader's baseline for believably. Within actual scholarship, 100,000 is the high end of the estimate, and it includes all the men killed, so the actual number of women murdered is believed to be significantly lower. This is important because her whole claim is based on scale.
(The holocaust comparison above isn't unique: Federici used the 9 million to incorrectly equate the number of women killed to the number of Jews killed in the Holocaust)
Because the witch trials occurred over 250 years, the actual number of deaths was around 200-400 a year. This is still obviously horrible, but German peasant revolts at the time had 100,000 deaths in just 3 years, so it's important not to place too much importance on the witch trials.
She says that there tended to be an economic motivation in the accusation and that the pattern held everywhere except Germany, but didn't mention that half of the cases occurred in Germany, so it's as important as everywhere else combined.
This isn't to say don't read it, but be careful when citing or believing her arguments.
Can anyone link the study showing how the majority of kids with GD ended up as average lesbians or gay or bi men?
This used to be to stated in older versions of “Standards of Care for the Health of Transsexual, Transgender, and Gender Nonconforming People” but I’m not sure the newer publications mention it at all.
-source
Studies:
“Children who claim to be transgender are usually actually homosexuals. Between 80% and 97.5% of transgender children later detransition” - Source
“Adolescents, who previously may have come to terms naturally with the emotional difficulties of pubescent bodies or with emergent homosexuality, may consider themselves to be ‘trans’ and be offered puberty-blocking drugs prior to psychoactive steroid hormones and irreversible surgery. […] Medical intervention may, in effect, become another form of ‘conversion,’ whereby some children who would otherwise have grown up gay or lesbian receive ‘gender affirming’ cross-sex treatments instead” - Source
“the levels of gender-typed behavior [from young ages] significantly and consistently predicted adolescents’ sexual orientation” - Source
More studies compiled by @inferior-mirage
Some articles/further reading:
The Unspoken Homophobia Propelling the Transgender Movement in Children What about the children who said they were transgender – and then changed their minds? The surgical suite: Modern-day closet for today’s teen lesbian
@transgender-harms-women’s “trans kids” tag (cw: homophobia, conversion therapy, religion-related child abuse)
Just want to clarify for anyone who skimmed that people who cite the 20% figure for dysphoric kids who identify as trans into adulthood have been being extremely generous: the research actually identified a range which may be as low as 2.5%. Research going forward, if it’s allowed to happen at all, will likely reflect much larger rates of persistence because of the immense social pressure which has emerged so recently.
“As children with GID only rarely go on to have permanent transsexualism, irreversible physical interventions are clearly not indicated until after the individual’s psychosexual development is complete.“
It's been almost 20 years since I first got my tourettes diagnosis, and I found out last month that TS is a disability. There are resources I should have had access to for the past two decades that I did not because I never knew, and no doctor or school councilor ever told me, so I'm posting this to get the word out. Please share it around if you can. If you have tourette syndrome, you are legally protected under the ADA and there are accommodations and support that you have a right to.
Reblogging to spread the word that people with tourette syndrome have a right to disability accommodations and support. 💙

it’s honestly embarrassing that there are so many people who are like I’m interested in women’s history!! but all they talk about are historical clothing trends. and act like war and politics are “men’s history” and caring about those aspects is inherently square.

arundhati roy is an Indian leftist activist and author, and this is a criticism of Gandhi and Gandhian politics. this context is important. she's lived through the failure of gandhi-esque politics.
reading the works of Mary fucking Wollstonecraft: idk this is kind of cringe.
This is no longer a hot take, ladies. We know you love corsets. Stop repeating yourself and get something new to talk about.
There’s a reason Wollstonecraft is telling women not to be obsessed with clothing and luxuries, it’s because men at the time are are rejecting luxuries to assert their masculinity (as opposed to those demmed Frenchies and Females) and their very superior Britishness, which to them, gives them the right to stay in power. That’s why you always see men saying shit like, “ladies Adore their Fashionable cloathes whych is normall and Just so” But if women also reject pretty things and wear something simple like the three piece suit men grow so fond of, they no longer have a reason to tell women they can’t be part of the political sphere. So what Wollstonecraft is saying, is stop wasting your energy with fashion and use it to take your rights as a woman.
Literally the first page of the introduction of A Vindication of the Rights of Women:
The conduct and manners of women, in fact, evidently prove that their minds are not in a healthy state; for, like the flowers which are planted in too rich a soil, strength and usefulness are sacrificed to beauty... One cause of this barren blooming I attribute to a false system of education, gathered from the books written on the subject by men who, considering females rather as women than human creatures, have been more anxious to make them alluring mistresses...
like... come on.
My own sex, I hope, will excuse me, if I treat them like rational creatures, instead of flattering their fascinating graces, and viewing them as if they were in a state of perpetual childhood, unable to stand alone.
i have no idea who this chick is but she can only possibly find A Vindication of the Rights of Women ‘cringey’ if she’s hitched her horse to the misogyny cart and has no understanding of the historical context in which it was written besides
calling Mary Goddamn Wallstonecraft ‘quote-unquote feminist’
offensive
Jesus fucking Christ. Mary Wollstonecraft took a radical stand to say that women are fully thinking beings, equal to men, and it is only the hobbling of women by men that allows men to justify their prejudice.
