So for disability pride month I will be talking about something I'm passionate about and maybe no one will read it but idc
I want to talk about the correlation between Neurodivergency and substance abuse and also mental health issues
Are you aware that individuals with ADHD are 14% more like to commit suicide, people with autism are 7% more likely and autistic women are 13% more likely. And 66% of autistic adults reported suicidal ideation. 25% of people with tourettes attempt suicide in their lives.
Women with tourettes are 7% more likely to abuse substances and men are 6% more likely.
People with ADHD are 6% more likely
And now for the one that really takes the cake, 19.8% of autistic people meet the criteria for a substance abuse disorder.
And these are only a few disorders can you imagine how many of us have these problems and how many of us have ones that over lap.
How many of us with several mental health issues such as depression, and anxiety as well as many others and this isn't even the tip of the ice burg.
It's time to wonder why so many of us (myself included) feel the need to turn to a substance in order to function like a "normal" person how high the expectations are how difficult it is to live
The best picture I took today :) It was my first time using a DSLR camera this morning and this was definitely the best shot I took, I will post more as a separate post as tumblr has issues with me attaching more than one picture at a time for some reason!!
I'm having a low tic period with my tourettes recently and it's great!
Up until it's not and I randomly have tics again and I'm reminded that everything sucks

despite being diagnosed for 5 years now i still sometimes convince myself i made my tourettes up but then i hit a tic so completely absurd with no warning before it that theres genuinely no reasonable explanation for me doing it other than something fucked up happening in my brain
writing down about the meltdowns i had that i want to REMEMBer to talk to my therapist about in sufficient detail to explain what happnd.....puts me in a bad emotional state and i hav new meltdowns where i hurt myself or break things or yell at loved ones...... and then i hav to write down that all THAT happend & it puts me in a bad emotional state again and i hav more meltdo
anyone w tourettes AND hEDS also thinks its a horrendous combination .
