hi there! i saw your post and wonder what got you interested in hypnotherapy? and what do you feel like the potential benefits and maybe even areas of awareness to have about it?
I have been doing self hypnosis since I was maybe 13 when I started learning more about mediumship and spirituality. I would do hypnosis to talk with my guides and loved ones. Or just to like decompress after school. I spent a lot of time meditating and practicing hypnosis- which is very similar.
Hypnosis is an amazing tool for so many things. In psychology it can be used like EMDR - of safely visiting and reprocessing traumatic or fearful moments- or even figuring out where those irrational fears stem from. It's great for things like limiting beliefs, self confidence, quitting smoking or other habits you want to change.
Through hypnosis you get into this soft hazy state where you bypass your ego, the part of you that is like- this is dumb and a waste of time. and just exist as consciousness. And whoever is guiding you will help so your mind doesn't wander around & you just drift off into sleep.
And spiritually hypnosis is really unique- that in between state when you're half asleep in really conducive to communicating with spirit- like loved ones who have died or spirit guides. because like I said, your ego isn't getting in the way & you're not distracted by wandering thoughts or outside noise.
Now past life regression is something I've always been interested in. as I mentioned I had memories from one of my past lives seep through as a kid/teen. It was very traumatic scenes where I felt, saw, smelled, knew things about my previous lifetime - and I won't share the details of that with others- because it was just the absolute horrors of humanity.
There are quite a few psychologists in their clinical work who have stumbled across people's past life memories when doing childhood regressions.
Dr. Michael Newton, Dr. Brian Weiss notably wrote many books on it, each exploring past life & life between life hypnosis with 10s of thousands of individuals respectively - spanning decades. and the Newton foundation has hundreds of clinical hypnotherapists across the globe who are still compiling data and research on past lives & life between life. I was looking into it at one point but the very structured, clinical way they do every session doesn't flow with how I work as a medium, who is channeling the client's guides while guiding these regressions.
But - I knew I wanted to get my certification as hypnotherapist - it's kind of a long but interesting story
So when I came back to mediumship as an adult after closing that door during my 20s - I had a dream - well an encounter with one of my spirit guides.
I was in this very liminal space - a bathroom with a sink & the faucet running and mirror in front of me. only instead of my reflection it was my guide. Now one of my guides looks quite unsettling but they just radiates love and gentleness. So none of this was scary- it was vivid. She told me that the depression / particularly the SI I had been experiencing was from a past life and I needed to let it go. because it wasn't supposed to seep through to this lifetime. And she showed me that lifetime where I had died. I saw, felt both emotionally & physically, and smelled it all as if I were experiencing it in that moment. And then my guide brought me back to that liminal space.
And they were about to go- when I realized I could ask my guide anything. So what had been on my mind was if ancestors - like cultural lineage were real- how could past lives scattered throughout the world also be real. Which one was correct. And they explained it so simply. We're all connected. We're all each other's ancestors. And in the mirror behind me I saw just thousands of people all looking at me with pride and love and I woke up crying it was such an incredible gift.
So after that experience- I knew I was meant to get my certification in hypnotherapy & past life regression hypnosis.
I love it- it's so fascinating to witness and guide- and the things that clients take a way from sessions are so profound. I give away so many free sessions because it's so needed.
Thanks for your question!
