I'm working with a group of socially privileged politically powerful mobile people who talk a lot about careers and journeys and being bored at work

And part of me is thinking... What are you on about

It's that thing about who has access to meaningful work

A lot of working class people don't think of careers. They'd be embarrassed to. There's very little confidence, belief, pathways, access, social mobility.

Work is a means to an end, not a "journey"

When I was cleaning bogs I was happy to be bored. I'd literally hide in rooms to do as little work as possible, which was my way of winning. Same when I cleaned rooms.

Different worlds, different outlooks, different experiences
