saw a post letting people know that your ao3 bookmarks are viewable on your account unless you make them private, which suggests that the median ao3 user does not use ao3 in what i will call 'the optimum fic-finding treadmill' where you find a fic author you like and look through their bookmarks to find more fics that are good and then look through that author's bookmarks for even more good fics. like a conga line of great but extremely specific tastes. or one of those chessboard rice doubling analogies and oh no that is a LOT of ao3 tabs.

class 1-a in ua is set up a little differently, instead of it being for hero course students, it instead is a reformatory program to rehabilitate villains, vigilantees and those with dangerous or uncontrolled quirks. after revealing bakugou's treatment of him, and alerting the media to the horrible management at aldera, successfully sending bakugou to ua's reform program instead of the hero course. izuku's life then takes a turn when he's enlisted into the program as well.
literally one of my ultimate fave fics. it has excellent character interactions, easily one of my favourites when it comes to class 1-a bonding. the class are wild and chaotic, but every single plot thread is tied so neatly it's beautiful. i have reread it, no exaggeration, over two dozen times.

one of my favourite fics. like. straight up. it plays with grey morals so much that its a theme, it significantly upheaves villain society because if only the shie hassaikai was just a little bit smarter then they could have done so much. it takes a while to get to ua and thus canon events, but it never wastes time. when first reading definitely takes a lil bit to wrap your head around good chisaki, but when you do, it's so good.

in which todoroki touya is a mother's boy and leaves flowers for his mom, this sets about a change in the league, hero society and ua. dabi/hawks, toga/uraraka, todo/deku, fuyumi/miruko
doesn't adhere to canon timeline, and isn't clear when exactly its set but at least post endeavor agency arc. i'm not usually drawn to LoV focused fics, but this one is written so well it's hard not to be drawn in. focuses on the messed up family of the todorokis, and gives rei her own agency where she's never been able to. delves deeper into the hpsc implications with hawks, and has some of my favourite dynamics. not to mention a significant portion of chapters have memes accompanying them and they're so good.

i feel like a broken record but this is one of my favourite fics, for a number of reasons but the main being that it implements some of my favourite character design concepts when we get to canon events. it has some wonderful moments, it carefuly treads the line of disrupting canon events enough to make changes but not enough that they don't happen at all. there's also a few fascinating interactions i love, and select scenes i find myself rereading for solely because they get stuck in my head.

a fan of the manga, symbol of victory gets reincarnated as midoriya izuku, a boy written to die early on in canon for the main character (bakugou) to feel angsty over. izuku, having not actually read the manga but involved in the fandom regardless, decides to take his approximate knowledge of the plot, and makes sure that he, and the other characters he cares about, live and are happy. todo/deku
this fic is half feral and SO quotable. i find myself coming back to it so often i could likely recount the entire plot to someone without a refresher. the interactions are solid gold, the jokes make me laugh even after reading them a dozen times, and it's just... fun. it's clearly a passion project and it makes me feel comradary? like izuku himself is a part of the mha fandom and its wonderful.

i love fics where izuku has his own quirk, esprcially is ofa gets involved because then you have quirk interactions and it gets even more exciting. this fic also has one of my favourite izuku and shinsou friendships ever written. not to mention the izuku and bakugou complicated relationship. the chemistry between all characters is so genuine feeling i keep coming back to this fic despite it not being updated for over five years now. it's paused just before internships, so thankfully no cliffhangers, but i know some people are put off when there's not been an update for years.

doesn't follow canon and is ambigious as to when it's set, but it's one of my favourite in terms of aizawa & izuku dynamics. they take the permission to change things in the school and run with it, setting up major changes in just five days.

after coming back from time travelling, the world the guardians know had changed. people have superpowers they call quirks, and heroes are a profession. due to this, the sailor guardians aren't able to work as well as they could before, and usagi's mom figures out just where her daughter has been slipping away to all the time. fed up with her daughter being a vigilante, she calls her father and send usagi to live with him. luckily for her, he's just started a new job at ua.
wonderful fic where izuku and usagi become siblings. also one of my absolute favourite scenario for all might because usagi just has so much love, and all might deserves that unrestrained adoration of a child. very soft. follows mostly sailor moon manga but can get by with just the 90s anime knowledge or crystal. also has an accompanying 40k fic of silver millenium changes in universe.
after one of the worst days of izuku's life, inko decides he needs a fresh start and they send him to life with inko's cousin, sabine. whose daughter coincidentally is also quirkless.
one of my favourite crossovers, there's a language barrier and their relationship doesn't immediately click, but izuku and marinette form a strong bond. it's very sweet and the changes to the miraculous universe is very intriguing.

john being raised as izuku allows him to be more caring than he was able to in his past life, he cares deeply for his mom, and if there's trouble he always steps in to help. due to this, he ends up gaining a reputation similar to his previous life's. currently post-usj but also has an absolutely fascinating friendship of izuku, bakugou and shinsou. with bakugou and shinsou's relationship being so fun. written pre-movie 4 with some references to 3 but you could read it with only the basic knowledge of the film series.

He also scared the shit out of Director Ma for dissing Rok Soo, despite him himself not being the same person and Rok Soo not even being there to feel hurt for it.
Also, he somehow survived more or less twenty years of a war that destroyed the world in the previous timeline. Which, as a fandom, it left most of us confused. He signed up to fight so he could leave a single scratch on the person responsible for his family's death. That's about what he said about the topic. How did a supposedly average rich nobleson survived when everyone else did not? We don't know. That's why no one believes he was normal.
Back on the topic of his family: He adores his family and he never got to be close with them after his mom's death and now he lives in a whole different world and they don't even know he's gone. And he's, get this, glad for the deal. He's glad his family is now alive. He's glad the people of his territory are fine. He's glad he could meet the mom who is whole new person and doesn't remember him. He's glad the new owner of his body is taking care of his family and basically told him to live well.

It can also be infered from the canon that he's a good actor because he canonically pretended to be a drunkard for years despite having a crazily high alcohol tolerance and, according to the protagonist, "did all that sober". He pretended to be drunk and threw things at gangsters and the sort of people who cause trouble at pubs in fantasy novels an somehow managed to get a reputation as trash out of it. He also, according to the protagonist, always missed. And yet even the knights were scared shitless of him. Hilarious.

LCF modern/college/academy OgAlbeCale AU where Rok Soo and OgCale are cousins and, thinking OgCale is a little too lonely (like an hypocrite, but Rok Soo has friends now at least), he decides to answer a doubt Alberu had about OgCale truthfully.
His plan was "these two actually have plenty in common and their personalities seem quite compatible. They both could use another friend. And then I'll have more time for myself." Which, he meant for them to exrcise and go out together and invite each other to their outdoor activities instead of himself.
And he was right. Too right.
Instead of the friendly platonic bond he expected them to form, they form a very much not platonic whatever that makes the air around them all pink and sweet whenever they lock eyes. It's disgusting. Why is Alberu eating his cousin with his eyes? (He was staring at his face, pinning. OgCale also does that. Rok Soo is just biased) This is the worst. (They would beg to differ)
He keeps cockblocking them because no one is allowed to creep on his cousin, not even Alberu. (He wasn't creeping on him. Rok Soo is just too protective)
Rok Soo: why are you taking my cousin to the movies?
Alberu: I thought you wanted us to hangout?
Rok Soo: Yes. So you two would annoy each other and let me slackâ not so you would put your tongue down my cousin's throat!
Alberu: Well, your cousin has a really beautiful throat! Not that the rest of him isn't beautiful in any way. Especially when he laughs. Have you seen how his eyes narrow a little and his irises beam? *Sighs*
Rok Soo: Ugh. You fuckingâ *covers his face with cushion*
OgCale, just arriving: *smiles* Al, I'm ready *notices Rok Soo* what's up with him?
Alberu, with zero remorse: beats me. *Offers OgCale a hand* shall we?
OgCale: *giggles* You're so sweet.
Eventually Rok Soo gets over it, but he still almost chases Alberu through the halls when he catches them shamelessly making out (they were just kissing) behind a tree (they really were just kissing, but they wanted privacy. Alberu is a reserved person and OgCale can be a bit shy sometimes).
He fully accepts one of his scam buddies and his most kind cousin (again, he is biased) are dating when he realizes Alberu is an effective creep deterrent. The seemingly kind and charismatic crown prince popping out of nowhere to glare at anyone who dares to make unsavory comments about Cale The Lout is more scary than it should be. Maybe because Alberu generally is seen with a polite smile in public no matter what.
On another note, after realizing how often people say stuff about OgCale that by all means should count as sexually harassment, a group of students adopt him as one of them. They're usually really chill, but it all happens so fast that OgCale himself is confused at how, why or when this happened. The answer is: a pair of them get really worked up about harassment and checking on OgCale was the fastest way prevent them from potentially committing a crime, then they ended up liking him so they just decided he was their friend now, no takebacks.
On another-another note, Eric, Amiru and Gilbert are seen later on hunting down the same people Alberu scared to death.
I love the image of a Rok Sooâtired of being dragged around by Cale and Alberuâdeciding to introduce the two so theyâd become friends and leave him alone to be a slacker, only to end up having to deal with the eternal Albecale honeymoon phase because he never considered the possibility of them falling in love. I can easily picture him sitting sulkily in a corner, lamenting all his life choices, while Cale and Alberu chat sweetly nearby, full of lovestruck gazes, blushing faces, and a seemingly perpetual pink filter of hearts surrounding them.
Rok Soo watches in horror yet another overly sappy encounter (one he swears could give diabetes to anyone standing nearby long enough) between his cousin and his friend, with hearts and glitter seemingly floating in the air: Oh God, what have I done??
Rok Soo, after seeing the OgAlbeCale effect for the first time: I told you to talk with my cousin, not to go and fuck my cousin!
Alberu, honestly offended: I haven't fuck him yet! We barely had had our first dateâ do you really think Cale is one-night stand material? Of course not. Do you think I would jump straight to sexual intercourse with him?! No! That man deserves to be properly wooed, Rok Soo! And how do you know I would be the one doing the fucking? Is it because I'm taller? That's a stereotype, you know? It could be the other way around. Maybe he wants to be the one doing the fucking. Maybe we'll turnâ *gets thrown a yarnball at his face*

Which, he meant for them to exrcise and go out together and invite each other to their outdoor activities instead of himself.
And he was right. Too right.
Instead of the friendly platonic bond he expected them to form, they form a very much not platonic whatever that makes the air around them all pink and sweet whenever they lock eyes. It's disgusting. Why is Alberu eating his cousin with his eyes? (He was staring at his face, pinning. OgCale also does that. Rok Soo is just biased) This is the worst. (They would beg to differ)
He keeps cockblocking them because no one is allowed to creep on his cousin, not even Alberu. (He wasn't creeping on him. Rok Soo is just too protective)

Maybe because Alberu generally is seen with a polite smile in public no matter what.
On another note, after realizing how often people say stuff about OgCale that by all means should count as sexually harassment, a group of students adopt him as one of them. They're usually really chill, but it all happens so fast that OgCale himself is confused at how, why or when this happened. The answer is: a pair of them get really worked up about harassment and checking on OgCale was the fastest way prevent them from potentially committing a crime, then they ended up liking him so they just decided he was their friend now, no takebacks.
On another-another note, Eric, Amiru and Gilbert are seen later on hunting down the same people Alberu scared to death.
I love the image of a Rok Sooâtired of being dragged around by Cale and Alberuâdeciding to introduce the two so theyâd become friends and leave him alone to be a slacker, only to end up having to deal with the eternal Albecale honeymoon phase because he never considered the possibility of them falling in love.
