do you ever have an experience where you can immediately tell that someone is someone else's Least Favorite Coworker. like. last year when I was going thru the TSA on my way to visit Ship, I was in a wheelchair bc I always get the wheelchair service, masked up, bc I'm always masked up, and the TSA guy asked me what my visible monitor was, so I was like "it's a heart monitor" and he immediately rolled his eyes and in the most dismissive voice went "but you don't really NEED it, do you"
and when I tell you. the SPEED WITH WHICH one of his coworkers made herself appear next to me and just, placed herself between me and this guy and said "ok honey you just come over here with me" and did the rest of my security check herself without once even glancing at or acknowledging this man đđđ thank you ma'am. Got work news. I knew changes were coming to one of my main tasks but not exactly how it was going to look. Now I know. I don't like it but my opinion doesn't matter. I get to put together an order by next week which is tight but do-able. Then we are doing big changes by/in September. Boss wants my input on that (re-doing the front desk area) which is unfortunate since I am not a spatial guy. So I'll get dinner and buy a treat and then go home and cry about it and then buck up and fucking deal with it. Not the best time for a month gap between therapy sessions but we will keep fucking going.

just saw a 'comments' tab on someones blog you know where the following and likes tabs would be if enabled and it was just showing all the replies theyve made on peoples posts. this is fascinating when did this feature come out

if you've made replies on posts there is now a tab on your blog showing every post youve replied to and your reply.
if this is not what you want, either go to your blog and click comments and disable it from there or just go to your individual blogs setting pages. just change it from blue to grey if you dont want everyone to see your replies AND the post you're replying to
PLEASE BE ADVISED that it is set to disabled for blogs that have not made any replies but it will turn ON if you reply with that blog in the future.! i just tested it with my main, which was greyed out but it turned on the moment i left a test reply
figured i'd get the word out bc i have not seen a single mention of this and i'm sure there are plenty of people who maybe comment on things they don't want on display for everyone to see on their blog lol. you can still look at your replies with it toggled off just no one else can, like locking the following and likes list
so for some reason this feature was actually announced on the tumblr engineering blog. interesting choice not to reblog it to the staff or tumblr blog, esp considering they asked for user input on how to implement it, but i suppose considering the response to the last update maybe the replies would be too overwhelming...
so couple of clarifications. comments are disabled as default for primary blogs that have their likes disabled. they are seemingly enabled for all other blogs that have replied to posts
posts you comment on may show on your followers 'for you' page if you leave your replies publically available. they may, in the future, show in on your followers dashboard if your follower goes to their dash settings and enables this. apparently, if your likes are enabled, your followers can already see those on the dash if they've gone into preferences and selected to do so, which I was unaware of, and that seems to be disabled at default, but it's possible i disabled it previously and forgot about it ig

I need to send a "per your last email" email because the person I'm dealing with gave me conflicting information and is now trying to make me the problem.
They even had the audacity to screenshot their own email, so I've screenshot their most recent email in the same email thread that counters that other email, and now I'm trying to find a professional way to say, "this you?"

@jubs here, today, to tell you about a feature we're building: Comments by author!
Comments (or replies) have been around for a while, but they have always been tucked away from your regular feed, and so we're working on a few ways to integrate them into the rest of our experience.
Soon, blogs will have a Comments tab alongside Posts, Likes, and Following. There, you will be able to see posts other people have been commenting on, and, more importantly, find your own comments! This was not possible before, except through notifications if someone engaged with your comment.
We're also working on a way to surface posts commented on by people you follow in your feeds. You will be able to find those in the For You tab, and later, alongside chronological posts in the Following tab.
So, how do you identify those posts in the feeds?Â
Replied posts will show a small preview right there in your dashboard, before you click anything.Â
This is not out yet, but soon! In the meantime, tell us what you think and expect from this! âşď¸

First of all, thank you all for the feedback in the original post!
Today, we're launching the new "Comments" tab for Blog pages, and we'll be testing a For You recommendation based on comments from people you follow. The posts will have a preview of the reply, so you know why you're seeing that post.
You will be able to control the new tab visibility, and whether we should include your comments in your follower's feeds, through a new setting:
The toggle can be found on https://www.tumblr.com/settings/blog/YOUR_BLOG or in the General Settings > Replies section, on Mobile. If you have already disabled the "Share posts you like" setting, the setting will default to disabled.
The new tab is only available on Web and iOS (44.8+) for now, but the toggle is available to everyone (including on Android), so you can control what other people see on your blogs, even if you don't have the new feature yet. Don't worry, we have plans to implement the tab and posts on Android, soon!

We want to later include these replied posts to the Following feed as well, and we're planning on adapting the current "Include posts liked by the blogs you follow" toggle to also consider comments, in case you don't want to see shared comments from people you follow.

Good news: It appears the tumblr dev team has done this RIGHT and while the option to share your comments is live, it appears to default to off!
Obviously if this is something you don't want to share, definitely double check, but if I'm correct in assuming that default-off is the intended behavior I am satisfied with how this was handled. Much like whether or not i can view someone's likes, I will likely never use this, but it's in no way intruding on my experience as someone who'll never use it, so I'm content.

Deleted accounts can now be recovered up to 30 days later
Weâre making a big change to how account deletion works on Tumblr, and weâre really excited about it, because this is something that some of you have been requesting for⌠well⌠a literal decade.
Before today, when you deleted your Tumblr account, it was immediate and permanent. Occasionally, this resulted in Very Sad Times. Even though weâve tried to make it super difficult to accidentally delete your account, this is something that still happens a lot. Like, a lot. Thereâs also plenty of folks who delete their account on purpose, but then regret it shortly afterward. Worst of all, if your account was hacked, and then deleted by the hacker, there was no way to get it back.Â
All of these problems are *poof* no more. As of today, when you delete your account, we will keep your data for 30 days. Your account will remain recoverable during that time, and you can contact us within that 30 day window if youâd like us to restore your account.
Eventually, we hope to make this process a bit easier, and allow you to restore your account with a single click of a button. For right now, though, youâll need to contact us via tumblr.com/support and choose the category âAccount Accessâ > âI have deleted my account or blog by accidentâ.Â
FAQs
How do I delete my account? Does that process look different now?
You can follow the steps here to delete your account on the web or through the mobile app, which works pretty much the same way as before. Youâll notice weâve updated the confirmation screen to reflect the new process, though.
Does a deleted account still appear on Tumblr during this 30 day window?
Nope. As soon as you submit the request to delete your account, all of your blogs will no longer be accessible (theyâll 404), no one will be able to message you, your posts will no longer appear in search results, and you wonât be able to log in anymore. This happens right away, not 30 days later. Deleted accounts still behave exactly as they always have.
What about my email address and username? Will those become available again immediately after account deletion, like they did before?
Notably, no, they will not. In order to make it possible for the account to be restored during the 30 day window, the username and email address must remain associated with the account during that time. So they wonât be available to register again until 30 days after youâve deleted your account.
If youâre deleting your account, and you already know that youâd like to use the same username or email address on a new account immediately afterward, we recommend that you change your username and email address before deleting the account. That way, they will become available right away, instead of being on hold for 30 days.Â
What if Iâve accidentally deleted one of my sideblogs, but not my entire account?
If you delete a sideblog, it will be deleted right away, and cannot be restored. We can only restore an entire account (which will restore all of its blogs along with it).Â
Is this feature retroactive? Can you restore the account I deleted two years ago?
As much as we would like this to be possible, the answer is no. We still havenât perfected the art of time travel, so all accounts deleted before today are still deleted for good. This new change will only apply to accounts which are deleted after this announcement is posted.
