On a normal Memorial Day weekend our SUP yoga season would start (weather dependent of course). But, it’s not a normal holiday weekend and like most of you we’re frustrated and sad. We’re also optimistic and patient. The harbor is closed with a date of reopening as maybe “early June.” Once it opens it may take a week or two to set up and put new procedures in place to maintain social distancing and clean boards and paddles. Chicago weather has always taught us the art of “let’s play it by ear” and we’ll be ready for whatever comes. We wish you a happy, safe, and enjoyable Memorial Day weekend 🇺🇸! The statue is a Rue-si Dat Ton which translates to “Hermit’s self stretching exercises.” Yoga has a long, beautiful history which is preserved at Wat Phra Chetuphon along with texts on anatomy and Thai massage. When the temple was being reconstructed to preserve Thai culture, King Rama 1 (going all the way through King Rama IV) started a program to restore and preserve ancient art and sciences. Yoga is as important to the body and mind as science is to a society.
