I don’t want to say a bunch of negative things unprompted, so don’t read anything in italics if you aren’t okay with seeing negative/sad aspects of the relationship!

Let’s get this out of the way: If we’re being realistic, he is not going to be the best dad on the planet. He struggles a lot with his mental health & trauma & with the dangers he faces in his life, and might not always be there for you (either emotionally or literally). He is frequently scared, upset, and extremely distressed due to symptoms caused by the Operator. That doesn’t mean he won’t try his best when he can, or that he doesn’t love you!

He may or may not raise his voice, slam doors, etc. He may lash out, but never physically.

Some days, you’ll have to ground him when he’s on edge, hold his hand through panic attacks (although he can be touch-aversive, so try and assess the situation as best you can) or stay with him during a seizure. He tries to hold himself together in front of you, because he doesn’t want you to suffer or worry. Obviously, that can’t always succeed. (I REALLY HATE TO GO OFF ABOUT THIS OMG, and I’m so sorry if this resembles a home-life you detest, but I can’t bring myself to optimistically lie about it!)

Honestly, having a child terrifies him. It would be the worst thing in the world to see you get hurt. He would never want to lose you, but there are rare days he feels like he should push you away, so you don’t get dragged into the crossfire. He might act reclusive those days, or lash out, even though he knows that won’t make his own kid go anywhere. 

If you were around during the main events of Marble Hornets, you probably spent most of the time at someone else’s house. He tried to keep you far away from what was going on. Whether you involved yourself or not is up to you.

In general, you know more about what’s been going on than he would like you to. It’s kind of hard not to notice when your dad runs out of the house in the middle of the night & doesn’t come back for 3 days. He eventually has to tell you that he can’t control it. He doesn’t want you to think he’s been leaving you on purpose. It’s up to you whether or not you’re also affected by the Operator.

After the Marble Hornets finale, you two are on the move a lot. When you first start moving around, he weakly tries to play it off as the beginning of a fun road trip. He gives up within a week. You might be able to get a lot of secrets out of him at this time. It would kinda be taking advantage of his vulnerable state though (obviously he’s very, very fucked up after the finale). On the other hand, it’s okay to want to know the truth. You’ve been raised in an incredibly dangerous situation, and you probably don’t know the half of it. 

You know he’s grieving and ill and more traumatized than before. You try to pressure him into going to a psychiatrist/psychologist again, if he hasn’t already made the decision on his own. 

You can tell him it’s not his fault, and he’ll appreciate it, but nothing is going to heal him instantly. It’s time for fan-writers to stop pretending a hug can fix extreme mental health issues. Life is going to be hard for him for a long long while. 

Common father-child bonding activities include: walking to the convenience store (and getting popsicles during the summer), laundry day, movie & pizza nights, going to the only music store in town, going to the dog park to pet dogs (and pointing to a random dog if a dog owner asks “which one is yours :) “), etc. 

He’s funny as hell! He’s a very sarcastic person & he can easily make you laugh.

He’s the MOST understanding father ever. It’s very hard to make him genuinely angry with you. 

He’s like really gentle. Yes, he gets frustrated, and yes he’s not perfect but like… he’s so gentle. 

He’s very laid-back, and he prefers to let you do what you want (as long as it won’t hurt anyone. If it involves going somewhere: as long as he knows you’re close by & he can get to you if needed). He doesn’t want to be controlling. He especially doesn’t want you to feel trapped. Don’t get the wrong idea though — some areas & activities are banned. He’s not going to let you get yourself killed, he just wants you to feel that you have personal freedom. 

He has a very comforting presence. It’s nice to hang out in the same room as him, just doing your own activities. 

If you’re LGBT, he’s going to be a bit awkward when you come out — but he’s LGBT too, so he gets you. He’ll give you a nice bear hug. 

SPEAKING OF THAT, HE IS A BEAR HUGGER. The best thing in the world is when you get home from school & he’s waiting on the porch, ready to wrap you up in a very brief but all-encompassing super warm hug. 

He always puts an arm around you when you’re upset. 

He’s not super touchy-feely in general though. He doesn’t have the instinct to hold people, he’s more of a partial contact kind of guy. You could probably ask for prolonged contact (or heavily hint that you require holding lol).

Like many dads, he is a dry texter. 

He’ll teach you how to play instruments! The ukulele, the guitar, whatever you want to learn. You two make songs together for fun. 

if i have to die, this is the most beautiful death i can think of.

* i am wearing greco-roman style robes, yet i may seem almost like a sculpture of virgin mary as a goddess. they are light pink/rose, cream, and white. i have light golden jewelry, just a bit for decoration, not like the elaborate designs of a greco-roman queen. ornate golden bells hang off my ankles, but the sound they make is more gentle and twinkling (think windchimes).

* my hair is long, rippling, and seems to glow in the sunlight. it is beneath a silky sheer veil. my face is faintly rosy and my skin is a perfect even milky pale.

* i am stabbed through the heart with a gilded sword, in the fashion of the ancients.

* my brain is incinerated by the light of god, so fast that my neurons don’t have the chance to deliver pain signals to my brain. i die a painless death.

* my eyes glow for a fraction of a second, before they fade to cloudy brilliant cataracts. the burning has damaged my eyes.

* a white dove releases itself from my mouth. the light must always leave.

* i am dead and gone, but a few tears roll down my cheeks. they seem to glitter spectacularly before dropping to the dirt. tear tracks will remain on my face for eternity.

* blood flows from my wound. the red blood of a mortal girl.

* i am crucified, and paraded through what looks like an ancient village. rome? corinth? jerusalem? pella?

* the people follow my body through town, throwing pale pink flowers at my feet, their expressions blank but revering.

* my head lolls. they have pulled the sword from my body but the blood still stains my robes. it begins to appear golden as the sun sets.

* they set my cross up on the edge of the village. mourners kneel at my feet in uniform fashion, in heavy robes, sitting vigil for the night.

* i spend 12 days and 12 nights there. my body remains pure and refuses to begin decomposition.

* on the 12th night, a guard stands with his back to me. the night feels endless. everything is softly bright and blue with the glow of the moon.

* the breeze lifts and a melody drifts from behind him. he turns around and i am gone. vanished.

* could i have been taken by angels? a god or goddess? God? have i run off, the bells on my ankles making the sweet music? have robbers stolen my body?

* news winds its way to main civilization. people come to investigate my death. they find the strangest town, with the guard standing at the threshold. he recounts his story, then walks away, never to be seen again.

* there is no one in the town. it seems to have been abandoned for…days? weeks? centuries?

* carbon dating reveals that some items have been there since the BCs, some since the ADs, some impossibly new. there is a small red-gemmed rosary found, with what appears to be the virgin mary crucified. under closer observation, it appears to be the girl with the missing body.

* the town is closed off.

Percedal/Tristepin:

You’re a descendant of the Foggernaut god? That’s awesome!

Admittedly, he’s kind of shocked when you first tell him. If you’ve been keeping it a secret, he’s going to feel a bit hurt.

Overall though: Being the reincarnation of the Iop god, he’s overjoyed to meet someone who is relatively his equal in power. (Assuming you have enhanced power due to your heritage. If you don’t have a lot of power, that’s okay too!) It’s also nice for him to have someone to relate to.

He wants to spar with you SO BAD. Fighting the descendant of a god must be a great challenge! (Which is a silly thought to have when you’re the Iop god, not gonna lie.)

Have you ever met the god yourself? Will he meet the god? Please tell him he can meet the god Oktapodas.

Oktapodas, being the aquatic aspect of Osamodas, gives you an affinity with the ocean.

Dally enjoys hanging out at the beach with you! He also likes it when you show him cool sea creatures, or tell him stories about the secret depths of the ocean. BUT, don’t try to take him on any boats! He gets motion sickness and seasickness easily. 

He doesn’t quite understand why you love using technomagic (as opposed to brute force) during battle so much, but he appreciates your strategic ability! 

Percedal/Tristepin:

Dally was SUPER excited to meet another guardian. Like SUPER EXCITED, you have no idea man

It’s a major pro that you’re so beautiful too! He thinks you’re one of the coolest people in the World of Twelve. 

He will talk your ear off about his own work as a guardian. I mean, c’mon. Rubilax brought him back to life! Is he not the best Shushu-tamer out there?

He’s probably gonna ask you a bazillion questions about your Shushu & your achievements too. Don’t tell him too much at once though! He has a hard time focusing (which is absolutely not inherently a bad thing, or something that makes him dumb! i’m very tired of that interpretation). 

He honestly thinks it’s sick as fuck when you’re in fusion form with your Shushu. Although, it does make him slightly nervous. He’d rather you avoid letting your Shushu out like that. So much can go wrong! 

BUT, if you and your Shushu get along, or you have demonstrated excellent control over it, then…go ahead! He’d love to see you crush some skulls in your super powerful form!

He’s not a huge fan of it when you protect him. okay maybe he kind of is

He feels silly when people fight his battles for him. He wants to be seen as strong and useful, so,, to have you step in for him like that? It’s a bit of a blow to his ego. 

But, at the same time…it totally flusters him. If you see past the annoyed look he gives you, you can tell that he’s blushing & his eyes are twinkling and lovestruck. He totally gets butterflies when you fight for him. So cute.
