If I saw a cool ass whimsified car next to me I’d pull my window down and complement that shit. But I suppose she just couldn’t be happy that day. Whatever. At least I’ve got my whimsy.

I’m looking for good WLW romance novels and this one seemed quite interesting. Just out of curiosity, has anyone here read it? Is it really good?

Duke_of_Chutny: It’s a really phenomenal little gothic novella, but it is worth noting that it really is a disservice to the work to reframe it as a “Dark Sapphic Romance.” That really isn’t what it is or what it set out to accomplish. Definitely worth a read if you like gothic writing and are fond of vampires, as it really established the popular idea of vampires and their portrayal.
ParticularScallion62: I really loved it! It’s short but worth it. Highly recommend 💜
Ok-Process8309: If you like this book you should check out Hunger Stone by Kat Dunn. Frankly I feel like her retelling of this story is better than Las Fanu’s 🫢 I also like Carmilla but there’s a lot of weird writing in it because being a lesbian was looked down on in his time. Hungerstone does not have that constraint and it soars because of it.

Lesbiannerd27: I enjoyed this BUT I think reading the newest version edited by Carmen Maria Machado gives it a much needed feminist voice that the original author absolutely didn’t have. It’s still the same story but made for us to enjoy more I’d say

i know folks are gonna call me a pedo for this one, but i grew up seeing my mom and grandma naked. they had health issues and at times needed care and help showering. and i truly think more kids need to be shown the nonsexual reality of naked women at a young age. there is nothing sexual about my grandmothers breasts, they were simply body parts. more women die of heart attacks because people are too afraid of breasts to do real chest compressions, because they are scared to touch their breasts. the sexualization of our bodies literally kills us. i need people to be more normal about naked bodies and i'm 100% serious.
Okay, but also: if you see a Muslim praying in public and they have something in front of them, like a purse or a bag or something like that, you can pass in front of them, but pass in front of that object.
it’s called a sutrah, and it’s meant to act as a physical barrier between the person praying and someone who might happen to pass in front.
Also, if you did this and didn’t know, please don’t beat yourself up over it. Now you know! Muslims aren’t supposed to pass in front of Muslims praying, either, because prayer is communication with God and you don’t want to break that connection.
Similarly, if a Jew is saying the Shemonah Esrei prayer (whispered, moving only the mouth, standing facing east with legs together) don’t go in front unless there’s a barrier.

The One Who's Running the Show (Gooseworkx) [cw: The Amazing Digital Circus episode 8 spoilers] - Trying to play this on the piano but it's a very "show off" piece, where the whole piano gets used just for the sake of flair, there's a lot of almost simultaneous notes but there's a millisecond which makes it not (I know that's not very technical but it's what I have to give). Also, my fingees can only reach so far without breaking the fabric of reality. I might have to wait until a later date to do this one.

Your Own Sky (Prince Whateverer) - An old favorite I listened to on repeated during the covid crisis also it's my little pony and who doesn't love my little pony? (a lot of people, but this is tumblr, where everything is safe and right and good) Since then Prince Whateverer has remastered this song and the new version is good too.
A World I Built For You (Joel Tumelty) - Again, going to play this on the piano, so I'm hearing it a lot in little imperfect snippets caused by my own mortal hands. I'm starting to see a theme in these songs I'm playing. Not sure i can put into words yet though. If anyone else can let me know :-}
