Hi! My name is Remedy, and in February (2027) I'm getting vaginoplasty, otherwise⦠Remedy Rembran needs your support for Help Remedy Affor
Hey everyone! In February 2027 I'm getting vaginoplasty, otherwise known as bottom surgery or SRS. It's really exciting! But financially, I'll need some help. My insurance is covering lodging and travel costs for the trip, along with the surgery itself. However, I still need help meeting my portion of the surgical bill, some supplies I'll need for recovery, food during the trip, and making up for the smaller checks I'll be receiving on medical leave from my job (especially as I wait for those checks to arrive).
This is something I've been working on for years now and it means the world to me; it would improve my life in the smallest and biggest ways all at the same time. Any donation size is deeply appreciated, and if you can't donate (or even if you can!), I ask that you share my GFM/this post so it can reach those who can.
Thank you for your time <3

Love, at its softest, is just two people telling each other: βIβm here, and Iβm not going anywhere
Iβve recently seen some The Rocky Horror Picture Show discourse. And like people are questioning if Rocky Horror is transmisogynistic. Of course it does. Dr. Frank-N-Furter is intentionally a transmisogynistic villain. Thatβs the point.
Itβs intended as ironic of course, as deliberate camp. The musical is intended as a parody of old sci-fi and horror movies, mixed with a camp drag aesthetic inspired by the contemporary glam rock movement. The mad scientist villains in the movies being parodied were often queer-coded, and vaguely effeminate.
So to parody that, Frank-n-Furter goes far beyond the queer-coding, and is outrageously effeminate and evil. He rapes people, kills them with an axe and serves them for dinner and force-fems them to take part in his climactic stage show. He is a Frankenstein parody, who literally makes an artificial man in order to fuck him (a joke about Frankenstein Iβve seen on tumblr). And does it all while wearing stockings, a bustier and heavy make-up. He is deliberately the ultimate evil man in a dress trope, referencing Psycho and all effeminate mad scientists in media.
That Frank-N-Furter isnβt explicitly a trans woman doesnβt matter. The musical deliberately blurs the line. The line βIβm just a sweet transvestite, from Transsexual, Transylvaniaβ is like a perfect encapsulation of how horror movies treat transfemininity. βMen in dressesβ (transvestites) trans women (transsexual) and a symbol of predatory horror movie villainy (Transylvania) are all conflated, making a pun of out how they all begin with βtransβ.
Of course, itβs intended to be ironic. Itβs a parody of queer-coded villainy in old horror movies by turning it up to eleven, so that you canβt take it seriously. The whole movie has this drag show camp aesthetic that it celebrates, and the supposed representatives of heteronormativity, Brad and Janet are turned in the end. Frank-N-Furter becomes a symbol of a hedonistic queer liberation βGive yourself over to absolute pleasure.. Donβt dream it, be it.β
This is the clear intent of Rocky Horror, and itβs how it became a βqueer classicβ. Does it work? Iβll admit that I enjoy the movie version. The glam rock aesthetic is fun, the songs are catchy, and they keep coming at a quick pace. A lot of it is admittedly that I love the old horror and sci-fi movies itβs parodying, so my cultural touchstones are similar. Iβm the kind of person to get a thrill out of knowing that Frank-N-Furter at one point uses the exact same prop that Peter Cushing used in the second Hammer Frankenstein movie.
That is a different question however from how well it succeeds at subverting the transmisogynistic tropes it handles. Even in the most sympathetic possible account of the musical, itβs doing the equivalent of handling live grenades. Is it the creators tropes to subvert in the first place? Is it the fans?
Letβs talk about Rocky Horrorβs creator, Richard OβBrien. He is certainly a weird and contradictory person, he identifies as a third gender and β70% male and 30% femaleβ, and is using estrogen. So arguably he is a transfem enby and thus transmisogyny-affected. But heβs also a transmisogynist who doesnβt believe trans women are βreal womenβ.( I would like to know what exact percentage of βfemaleβ as a transfem person turns you into a bad fake trans woman.)
Of course the important thing about OβBrien is that he is rich. He is in a vastly different class position than the majority of transfems. So while he may be taking estrogen and living as a third gender, he is simultaneously isolated by his own wealth from the effects of the transmisogyny he bolsters in the media (see Caitlyn Jenner for another example of a wealthy transfem doing the same thing).
And OβBrien is rich because Rocky Horror is a huge success. The stage show has seen tons of productions, the original ran for 7 years in the West End, and the movie is a slow but certain money maker, with probably the longest theatrical run out of any movie in history. He is swimming in residuals.
This raises the more interesting question of Rocky Horrorβs position in the wider culture, and itβs status as βqueer mediaβ. Itβs a movie which is just not passively watched but celebrated and performed by its fandom. People show up in cosplay to showings, βshadow castsβ perform while the movie plays. And of course the original stage musical is still performed.
So we have to ask ourselves, what are people performing? And who is performing it? And Iβve already answered the former question earlier. Rocky Horror is largely an ironic performance of transmisogyny. And the fact is, the majority of people doing that performance are not the main targets of transmisogyny. They are largely TME cishet, queer and trans people. Itβs βironicβ transmisogyny to be sure, I think most fans of Rocky Horror who have any understanding of what it is doing view Frank-N-Furter as the true hero of the show. But is it really their thing to be ironic about? Are transmisogyny-exempt people really the people who should reclaim with irony and camp transmisogynistic tropes in horror media? I donβt think so, and thatβs why there is so much resentment about Rocky Horror from transfems. And itβs creator doesnβt help, because while heβs arguably transfem, he also spreads transmisogyny in the media.
It illustrates a lot of things, for example how imprecise βqueerβ is as a description of people. Itβs an umbrella term, and does group together people who have much in common. But it also erases the material differences within the community. Queer people arenβt all equally oppressed.
So Rocky Horror status as queer media, as a campy celebration of queerness and parody of anti-queer tropes in genre films is kinda grating. Because it enables TME queer people to perform and celebrate Rocky Horror, because they are queer and itβs about βqueernessβ, when there are specifically transmisogynistic tropes parodied in the musical. It isnβt really their place to do so.
It appropriates specific transmisogynistic tropes in the media by thoughtlessly subsuming it into the general anti-queerness which it is part of.
Of course there are transfems who got to explore their gender at Rocky Horror showings. But I think the reason they did that is because mtf crossdressing is accepted as part of a camp ironic performance in such a context. It makes it feel safer to perform femininity in public, because you can backtrack and say itβs purely ironic. Thatβs no different from the comedy crossdressing in American Halloween parties, and I think we can all agree those are often transmisogynistic.
And of course, Rocky Horror is an example of how cis men can perform femininity, and get celebrated for it in mainstream society, while escaping the effects of transmisogyny that transfems experience, and in fact often furthering that transmisogyny. Itβs often a (negative) performance of transfemininity, in which actual transfems play no part and are mocked.
Tim Curry is a very good example. He made his career from playing Frank-N-Furter, and he probably couldnβt have done that if he was actually transfem, and not just crossdressing for an ironic performance on stage and screen. Like I donβt have anything against him in particular, quite the opposite, heβs one of my favourite actors, love him in everything from Clue to Muppet Treasure Island to Gabriel Knight. My objection is to the patriarchal and transmisogynistic system that favors cishet men like him.
Speaking of crossdressing on stage, the drag culture which Rocky Horror is inspired by of course has a complex history. Itβs deeply rooted in both African-American and queer culture, and transfems have played major roles in drag. But Rocky Horror is if anything even an appropriation of drag culture. It represents dragβs commercialization and recuperation into the mainstream. It took drag out of the gay bars being raided by the police and onto the more respectable West End stage, making a lot of money in the process.
Rocky Horror beyond any qualities it has as a stage and film musical, due to its popularity represents a lot of complex issues. Itβs important to queer culture, but it also represents the commercialization and recuperation of queer drag into the cishet mainstream. And within the queer community, it is a shining example of how TME queers can appropriate specifically transfem struggles as their own. It shows how cis men can gain wealth and fame performing transmisogynistic caricatures (even if they are ironic and donβt mean it).
Iβm not saying if you enjoy the musical that you should stop enjoying it. But maybe if you are TME, Dr Frank-N-Furter is not your βproblematic queer iconβ to reclaim.

crazy how no matter what undercover police wear they manage to look like theyve never worn clothes before. like how are you bad at wearing a tshirt
βA kiss may be grand, but it wonβt pay the rental, on your humble flat, or help you at the automat.β
Like literally the most famous song about how much girls love jewellry is just explaining the importance of getting jewellry for when your partner leaves you penniless and alone.
The founder of Girl Scouting in the US, Juliette Gordon Low, funded her first troop by selling her pearl necklace, which was her only belonging after her husband died and left everything to his mistress.
She founded Girl Scouts to teach girls self-sufficiency so they wouldnβt have to go through what she went through when her husband died and she didnβt know how to take care of herself.
While weβre on the subject, letβs please also remember that historically disenfranchised communities who had to worry about frequently being run out of town often bought expensive jewelry with their limited funds not because they were greedy or tacky or classless, but rather because you canβt sew a real estate investment into the lining of your coat, and the powers that be canβt freeze a diamond necklace the way that they can freeze a bank account.
tumblr staff doesnβt want you to know this, but a great way to treat small amounts of granulation tissue to prevent it from becoming hypergranulation inside the canal of your neovagina is to make a hypersaline solution (more in tense version of regular saline) and soak a tampon in it, and then insert that tampon into your vaginal canal
now Iβm sure if you are dealing with granulation tissue during early recovery from bottom surgery youβre probably thinking gosh fuck Iβm a trans girl iβve never had to put a tampon in in my life how do I do thisβ¦and Iβd love to show you but
ITS THE POST THAT GOT ME BLURRED HIII
love how much tumblr hates women lol
anyways, if you're a trans girl and have never used a tampon before, here's some tips
- you shouldn't be able to really feel it, if you do it isn't tilted correctly or it's not far enough in. in my experience the easiest way to put in a tampon is squatting and tilting slightly forward but experiment and see what feels best for you
- it's completely normal to take a few attempts to get in correctly , that's what the string is for (easy removal)
- if you lose the string you can just Go Up There and pull it out, it's just more messy
- even though you don't bleed, do not leave it in for long. i'm serious. you can still get toxic shock syndrome, it's not pretty and you will need serious medical intervention. change tampons at least every 8 hours
- probably common sense but ill add anyways, tampons expand when absorbing fluid! do not worry if it's a little struggle to get out that's normal (but if you're having a REALLY hard time that is not, probably size down your tampon)
hope any of this helps!
From the replies:
What is granulation tissue?
[Cyprozombiegirl] Granulation tissue is a normal tissue that forms underneath where the skin will form, its bright red and shiny (and painful to the touch). Unfortunately when the injured/cut area is consistently wet often too much of this tissue forms and prevents skin from growing over it. When this happens itβs called hypergranulation and needs to be chemically burned away. If youβve got some but not a lot though, not enough to technically be hypergranulation but on the way there, you can use hypersaline to treat it.
It canβt stop anything once youβve fully got hypergranulation, but if itβs only granulation it seems to help a lot. I found out about this from a friend whose special interest is bottom surgery
To Make The HyperSaline Solution
[Cyprozombiegirl] mix 2 teaspoons of table salt with 1 cup of warm water (which youβve boiled for at least 20min) in a clean container until the salt dissolves. soak tampon in it. Insert tampon (this can be tricky because it will rapidly expand, so I suggest getting one for light flow).
[Dilsdoes] hi! just a note: make sure the salt youre using is non iodized! generally for saline solutions used internally like this you want to avoid iodized salt. it tends to irritate mucous membranes
Further information on Tampons can be searched online or on the Tampon box.

A diagram for how to apply a tampon in a (neo)vagina.
1. Tampon inside a tampon applicator, with tampon chord (a string used to pull the tampon out).
2. Hand with the tampon itself pointed towards the palm and body. Index finger over the Tampon applicator plunger.
3. Spreading vaginal opening with the other hand, and placing the tampon with tampon applicator towards the vaginal entrance. Legs spread apart.
4. Push tampon applicator plunger with index finger, with tampon inside, to push it further inside.
5. Take out tampon applicator. The tampon should be secured inside the vaginal canal, with tampon chord hanging outside of the vagina.
End ID.
make sure you are doing this using a tampon with a plastic applicator. This is for a number of reasons: firstly, they are easier to use than other options, but secondly and more crucially, theyre actually compatible with the whole "putting in a tampon soaked in liquid" thing. If you use an applicatorless tampon like OB, it'll just fully expand and good fucking luck getting that in. If you use a tampon with a cardboard applicator, its harder to put in and also the cardboard will just get soggy.
you want something that looks like this:
Make sure to soak the tampon while it is in the applicator. do not remove it from the plastic casing (blue in this picture) or you will be unable to put it in.
I would also highly recommend avoiding tampax pearl tampons or anything similar. This means anything that advertises itself as having a thicker string or "leak protection". Firstly, if youre not bleeding or otherwise oversaturating the tampon with liquid you wont need it (yet again a reason to soak the tampon while its in the applicator). Secondly, that thicker string can be massively uncomfortable even for people used to wearing tampons (which can also be an issue if you dont yet know how to differentiate between "is this tampon not in properly?" and "the string on this brand fucking sucks eggs".) If youve never worn one, save yourself the trouble. A thin tampon string you shouldnt be able to feel is best.
If the tampon string breaks (which, if youre worried about this, dont be. It's extremely unlikely, I've had it happen once in my many years of wearing exclusively tampons) bear down like youre taking a shit and it should start to come out on its own. This can also help if youre having trouble taking it out or are just nervous. Like mentioned above, this can be even easier if youre in something of a squatting position, such as by putting a stool under your feet.
It's worth mentioning that tampons come in different sizes. From smallest to largest they go: light/junior/slim, regular, super, super plus, and ultra. Light/junior/slim and ultra can be hard to find. Your best bet is regular. The larger a tampon, the more likely you will struggle to remove it, not because it is physically large, but because it can absorb more liquid and will thus be dryer. Just go with a smaller one and you should be fine
Here's a non-Tumblr source on hypergranulation and its treatment in neovaginas in case anyone would like that. (I wanted to find something more before reblogging medical advice.) It doesn't bring up the preventive solution OP is talking about but it does give some context for it.
Take care of yourselves, especially after surgery. I love you.
I'm gonna add my 2 cent cause even though I'm cis this has happened to me and I can imagine it's even more uncomfortable to our trans sisters: If you're having a hard time removing the tampon because there's a lot of friction or it feels like it expanded too much don't hesitate to douse your finger in a bit of lube and lube the vaginal canal. This will help get the tampon out with less discomfort!
