āIf you keep pacing back and forth like that, youāre going to wear a hole through my carpet.āĀ
Roman paused his pacing just long enough to shoot a glare in his twin brotherās direction.Ā
āIām sorry if the state of your floors isnāt exactly high on my list of priorities right now, Remus.āĀ
āHey,ā Remus said sharply, standing up gripping Roman by the shoulders. āLook at me. Weāll get through this. Okay?āĀ
Roman sighed, slumping forward and letting his weight rest on Remusās arms.Ā
āWhat are we going to do?ā he whispered.Ā
āWe knew this could happen,ā Remus said simply. āThatās why we planned, remember?āĀ
āWe planned for them coming after one of us,ā Roman said, looking up and meeting his brotherās eyes. āBut they didnāt take me, or you, they took Logan, and I donātā¦I canātāāĀ
āSit down,ā commanded a new voice, and Roman looked up to see Remusās fiance Janus coming out of the kitchen with two steaming mugs. Somehow, he still managed to look just as intimidating in gray sweatpants and a yellow t-shirt as he normally did in a three-piece suit and capelet, and it wasnāt just because of the runes glinting on the left side of his face. Janus had a way of carrying himself that caught your attention, a way of speaking that commanded your respect, even if he were merely commenting on the weather.
Remus plopped down onto the couch, pulling Roman down with him in one, not-so-very-smooth motion.Ā
āDrink,ā Janus said, pressing one of the mugs into Romanās hands.Ā
āWhat is it?ā Roman asked, peering into the cup.Ā
āTea,ā Janus said, raising an eyebrow, and Roman took a small sip.Ā
Immediately, he felt some of the tension bleed from his shoulders, and he sent an accusatory glare up at Janus.Ā
āTea with what?ā he demanded, and Janus shrugged.Ā
āA few drops of drafted decompression,ā he said lightly. āYouāre no good to Logan or anyone else if youāre so wound up you canāt even think straight.āĀ
āMy brotherās never thought straight a day in his life,ā Remus chuckled, elbowing Romanās side. Roman shoved him off weakly, and Remus frowned. āDonāt worry lilā bro,ā he said more quietly. āWeāll figure something out.āĀ Ā
