you don't have to be scared of your suicidal friends. you don't have to be scared of your psychotic or delusional friends. you don't have to call the police every time someone says they feel like they want to die. you can say things like, "that sounds really hard" and "I'm going to bring you some food and you can tell me more about it"

yk guys I think a lot of ppl when arguing against the death penalty go for a like "people don't deserve death, etc" view and I get why ppl argue for that I rly do! but it doesn't matter. I don't trust the government to do it, I don't trust them to decide who should die, I don't trust them to determine who is mentally competent, I don't trust them to not be bigoted and discriminatory in their practices, I don't trust them to have the right people, I don't trust them to execute it in a humanitarian way. and I've had discussions with ppl who otherwise have similar viewpoints to me in many ways but can think of people they think deserve to die, and I think if abolishing the death penalty is like, a super important cause to u the same way it is to me, the argument u use shouldn't be "well these people deserve to live" (although in some cases I think yeah the death penalty is done to people who totally don't "deserve it") because that's so subjective, it should be "do you trust the government to do it?" like, do you trust the people who cant even fill potholes on your road to determine who should and should not live

my close friend from uni was a cis girl who had the audacity to wear pants and cut her hair short and like nobody at this school, a place OBSESSED with ‘respecting everyone’s gender identities,’ would call her ‘she.’ after MONTHS of this she started wearing a fucking pronoun pin to work and i dont even think that fixed it. me, im sorta androgynous; i have shaggy self-cut hair and go by a neutral name, but i always say my pronouns are she/her, and people ive worked with for months and have introduced myself in front of fifty times will STILL reflexively say ‘they’ for me. i respect the progressive circles i run in, but this IS evidence of misogyny. people’s definition of “woman” or “girl” is so narrow and high-maintenance that even the tiniest deviation from the norm gets you forcibly defeminized. but it’s a compliment, right? like who would wanna be a girl anyway?

in case anyone's wondering, the maximum ssi amount in 2026 is $993 a month. they cut that if you get any other money from any other source at all. like, if someone tries to give you money for christmas presents or you try to do some work for uber so you can save up for something, ssi will take it out of your monthly amount so you basically never go over $993. they really, really hate us.

Yeah… that’s an issue here in the Netherlands too. You’re kinda stuck at 70% or minimum wage. This is survivable but not livable. Having someone living at the same adres means they have to provide for you, even if they’re just a roommate. So you have to live alone and spend ~50% of your income on rent. It’s nowhere near as bad as the US but it still sucks.

I miss rainbow capitalism. I do. I miss when it felt like public opinion was still pro gay. I understand it was always an empty gesture, but it mattered in a sense of knowing how socially acceptable being queer is. If that makes sense.

since i am a trans woman who plays sports i will never find your joke about trans women in sports funny. sorry.

been said before but. allies also often throw in a “well actually when transwomen are included in sports with regular women they come nowhere near being the best so it’s fine to let them compete together.” bc like, well, i would like to think i could one day become the best. am i only allowed to play in sports because I’m not actually trying? it shows that there is actually a threshold in ability that, when reached, will cause certain groups of people who seem to support trans women in sports to reevaluate and find out they have been bioessentialists the whole time

Every time I compete I am scared I will win. Nobody should ever have to be in that situation. I got second at a competition and I saw the look on the face of the woman who got third, and I left that competition as quickly as I could because I didn't know if she would try to do something about it.

undiagnosed autistic people will be like "I don't get upset when my routine changes though!!" and it's because they've built a set of if-then loops in their head to pick from one of 6 different strict routines and they do get incredibly upset when they're unable to keep to any of the 6 scripts.
