I'm so confused as to why people keep auditioning for AGT when I have NEVER heard from the winning act again once the show ends

#is it just another way for simon cowell to suck his own dick #and to keep his fellow judges & host relevant bc they're can't/won't book anything else a la The Voice

US only theater isn’t odd or unheard of at all. And Amazon usually only does full theatrical releases for their big blockbusters (aka ones they need to make money back on), smaller indie movies that got some critical acclaim at some festivals etc.

Amazon does what Apple, Netflix do…to be considered for some awards (not saying this will be an Oscar movie…it gives Golden Globe, Critics Choice etc) you have to have a theatrical release. So you will see a one week or two week run. Also Prime uses that one week for word of mouth marketing and to create buzz. Because at the end of the day they want folks to go to their platform…that’s really it.

I think it having its premiere at TIFF is important and key. That means their committee saw it and liked what they saw. It also acts as a jumping off for promo.
