OMGGG I HAVEN’T TALKED HERE IN SOOO LONG BUT GUESS WHAT? YOUR BOY GOT A SOC OC.
Her name is Jada!! She’s Half Zemeni and Half Shu (my blasian girlie). She’s a poisons expert and the designated torture for the Dregs. If you need answers out of someone and you can’t call a Heartrender, she’s your gal. She’s ALSO an assassin and a herbalist/chemist with extensive knowledge of jurda parem!
i was thinking how she met kaz and inej and jesper was when she stumbled into the crow club after a mission clutching her bloody side dressed as a pleasure house worker (it was an undercover assassination). i had the idea of inej immediately wanting to help her because she almost sees herself in her while kaz is like “this ain’t a charity, get her out of here??” there was this one mental image i had — of kaz going through her pockets, finding money and counting it and inej just gives him a look and he’s like “what?” and she just wordlessly holds out her hand. and it’s just thirty seconds of eye contact before kaz almost grumbles and hands the money to her and inej puts it back in the girl’s pocket
kaz is almost annoyed but becomes vaguely intrigued because none of the Dregs know who jada is. someone somehow managed to slip in without being noticed. i’m also thinking inej was the most adamant on jada being able to at least stay until she could open her eyes again, telling kaz they couldn’t just let her bleed to death. kaz knows the reason inej is so adamant is because she sees herself in this weird girl, subconsciously or otherwise.
i was also thinking kaz takes her to the ice court for two reasons:
1. the reason he tells everyone: jada has a good sense of direction, is a good planner and has a wide range knowledge of poisons and medicine. if they get hurt or they need someone hurt and nina or inej can’t do it, she’s one of the others on the line.
2. the real reason: he knows jada is an assassin, and if it all goes to hell—like wylan, she’s insurance.
it’s so funny to think jada is thinking “nobody here knows i’m an assassin on the run from a government” meanwhile kaz knows hehee. i think for an assassin, she’s really bubbly and eccentric—kind of boosting morale and optimistic. like: “dw guys, we can do this!!” “jada, we’re about to be executed.”
i also think she hates sharing a lab but will do so with wylan because “he’s the only one here with common sense”. gets along with others fairly easily and is actually well liked at first — she’s just very hard to trust because she (like kaz) improvises and doesn’t tell anyone what she’s thinking. which gets on kaz’s NERVES. bro can’t take what he dishes out, he finally experiences what it’s like for everyone else.
worse part; what she does works, so kaz doesn’t know whether to be impressed or upset. she gets along with nina VERY well, and i think she creeps matthias out because no one whos that happy while being in danger can be sane. i can see her and inej having a real sisterly relationship too, but inej is the big sister, jada is the little sister. AND sibling relationship with wylan but they’re twins. i think jesper and jada are like double trouble too.
also, proposing jada’s got a real screwed up way of looking at things. like when she saw the state inej was in after getting stabbed (in soc, on the dock) her first thought was to put inej out of her misery. before she went “oh wait no, we have a heartrender, i don’t have to”.
it’s so funny to think about kaz having his own shadow but it’s someone so completely his opposite yet like him. the mental image of there being a moment of complete chaos and kaz sees jada freeze before getting the biggest smile on her face — like her own little scheming face but it’s a more “crazy idea” face. like, he’s so fucking annoyed with her but also impressed by her (which is a FEAT, good for you, girl) and she’s too valuable to get rid of and he’s kinda starting to like her a little but she also gets on his nerves so bad. it’s funny to watch cool and collected kaz “dirtyhands” brekker be annoyed so completely by such a sweet girl (i say sweet girl like her body count ain’t in the hundreds)
but yeah, i ALSO have outfit ideas for her!! i imagine her style being earthy black girl boho with a bunch of jewelry yet she can still live silently with it on? i can also imagine her hair being like goddess braids or locs. i can’t decide which one. MAYBE goddess braids. flowy skirts, a corset or two, etc. but there’s a practically to her outfits? a bunch of pockets and pouches for her poisons and chemicals, fluctuates between skirts and pants, etc etc.
like this!! and her hair being goddess braids would definitely almost never be down. there’s a scarf in it, something holding it up. it’s definitely messy and she hasn’t gotten it done in quite some time (i imagine there’s no good braiders in ketterdam) but she makes it work!
AND YEAHHH! that’s my oc! her last and first name varies because she uses a different name every place she goes, but for this one, she’s just decided to use jada. she’s also a lesbian! so that’s my girl!! i present her to the council—is she excepted or nah?
