Danny had always considered his life not to be normal. He was fourteen years old, and his life had been one crisis after another ever since he had been born. He had been born into the League of Assassins with his twin brother, and had been taught everything they needed to know about murder, espionage, terrorism, and world domination. Then when he was five, his brother had been assassinated by an assassin known as the Clock King, and he had been sent to live with his father. His father was as far from normal as his mother was. His father was a ghost hunter, bent on protecting the world from the supernatural.
His mother still visited from time to time until he was ten, but after that, her visits had stopped completely. It wasnāt until he was 12 that he learned she had been murdered. The worst thing was that he hadnāt even been that upset about his biological motherās death. He had been trained better than that. To never be upset over death. His fatherās teachings had told him that death isnāt always the end, as sometimes beings could exist outside of life and death, but his mother was not one of them.
Under his fatherās teachings, he excelled more rapidly than he ever had with his mother. Their skills blended beautifully into his everyday routine. His father was a ghost hunter through and through, but he would never say no to hunting other supernatural beings. Danny had learned how to vanquish vampires, werewolves, demons and witches. He had earned a name for himself as Phantom, side by side with his father, Revenant. His fatherās wife, Maddie, was also heavily involved in the family business, along with their daughter, Jasmine. Maddie and Jazz had a crucial role to play: they were both witch hunters that pretended to be witches. Their plan had worked beautifully for years, and they had saved the world multiple times from supernatural threats that plagued the lands.
When the ghost portal opened for the first time, Danny was more surprised that his parents would attempt to open a portal to the dimension than anything else. At first, he didnāt understand. To him, it seemed like an open invitation to invite ghosts into their world. He had rebelled against his parents for the first time, and had tried everything to shut down the portal and destroy their lifeās work.
Then Plasmius had shown his face for the first time. He finally understood what his parents had been trying to teach him. They were hopelessly outgunned against ghosts; so they needed to get on their level. To do that, they needed live specimens.
Unfortunately for them, that fight had gotten out of hand very fast.
Amity Park had been the first city to burn. Even after Jazz destroyed the portal, the fight had continued to spread with ghost and human casualties becoming rampant. Supernatural beings of every race had banded together against the ghosts, but it wasnāt enough. The ghosts won, and every race was forced into slavery by the ghosts.
The Fenton family wasnāt so lucky. Since they had been the family to start the entire mess, they had been hunted across the globe. His father, mother, and sister had died a long time ago, and he had been on his own for months by that point. He was barely surviving from day to day.
His salvation appeared with a time medallion and a kind smile. A chance to reverse everything, to change everything for the better. A chance to stop everything before it even began. All he had to do was bring the man Plasmiusās head. He was more than happy to oblige, even if the ghost confused him. Wouldnāt Clockwork be happy that Plasmius had taken over the Earth? It had been a huge victory for ghost kind; something they had always lorded over the sentient population of Earth.
āNot everything has happened the way it was supposed to.ā Clockwork had explained, leaving him more confused than ever. āYou will learn everything with due time.ā
That had led him to his current predicament. Once he had begun to wear the time medallion, he had become a time anomaly. Changes happened to the timeline, and he was immune. He had understood what Clockwork had told him at long last: the timeline had been changed. So what even was the true timeline at this point? Was the timeline stable, or was his planet doomed before he could even save it?
By the time he had turned fifteen, he had learned much more about time travel than he had ever thought possible. Time was not linear; it was a winding river, possible of many changes, but unable to be reversed once the change took hold. He reversed many things, but some things had been beyond what he could change.
He couldnāt bring back his family.
He couldnāt save Amity Park.
He couldnāt save the Earth.
But he could save countless other planets from the tyranny of ghosts. The ghosts, once given access to their dimension, had taken full advantage. Now it was his job to beat back the ghosts, and kill Plasmius.
But Plasmius was smart. Far smarter than he had given credit for. Plasmius had made a device that not only traveled in time, but in space as well. He had taken the identity of the Clock King, and had gone back in time to try and kill Danny. But he had gotten the wrong twin, and now Danny was angry. But Plasmius changed dimensions with a new mission in mind. He was going to kill every version of Danny, no matter the cost.
With Clockworkās help, he was able to create the tech needed to follow Plasmius across the alternate dimensions. Their first battle destroyed a moon, sending that Earth back into the dark ages. He had felt guilty about it, but wasnāt given much time to dwell on it before Plasmius hopped dimensions again, trying to shake Danny from his trail.
They clashed again and again. Multiple dimensions fell to their battles, and Danny had learned how to corral Plasmius. He had begun to get an edge against the ghost, to try and capture the man who was responsible for the deaths of countless dimensions.
He was sixteen now, and had been chasing Plasmius for almost six months. He barely paid attention to the time, since it was never consistent from dimension to dimension. But he knew when his sixteenth birthday came and went, and he had been alone for it. He knew when the eleventh anniversary of his twin brotherās death came and gone, and his brother had not yet been avenged. He knew the date of when his dimension died, and their destruction hadnāt been avenged.
It was frustrating to him. He couldnāt catch Plasmius by himself. He needed help, but no ghost would help him. Plasmius was too powerful, too feared, and Danny was only human. He was an enhanced human, sure, but he wasnāt on the same league as Plasmius.
He could feel the weariness in his bones as he stepped through the portal. He didnāt know how much fight he had left in him. He couldnāt do this. He was going to die to Plasmius, and Plasmius would be free to destroy the entire multiverse. He would go down fighting, but how many more were going to die because he couldnāt stop one ghost?
He sighed, and took a moment to sit on the muddy ground, his head against the wall of the building he leaned against. He was wearing dark black robes that covered him from head to toe, hugging his figure with no extra fabric to grab. His face was covered by the same material, but his eyes were covered by safety goggles that blended seamlessly into the fabric. Dual swords were strapped into pouches on his back that he could grab at a secondās notice.
He had a utility belt made of the same black material as his robes that was full of different gadgets that he had picked up over the last few years. Some of them had come in handy against Plasmius, but by now the man knew all of his tricks. They knew each other too well to one up the other. They were at a stalemate.
āI need help, Clockwork.ā He pleaded to the open air, āI canāt do this on my own.ā
He wanted to curl into a ball and sleep. He longed for his family that died years prior; he longed for his mother and brother, and his grandfather. His grandfather had been evil, but even the familiarity of Raās Al Ghul would be comforting to him.
He heard a clanging noise down the alley. When he looked over, it was just a cat pushing an empty aluminum can. He didnāt flinch at the harsh noise. Instead, he pulled the mask off of his face, breathing in the stench of the air without the filter. The air tasted grimy, as if it was full of smoke and pollution. Without the noise-cancelling aspect of his mask, he could hear the sounds of the city around him. Cars, emergency vehicles, people chatting, screams, gunfireā¦
His hearing, vision, and senses had been enhanced after his first encounter with Clockwork. The ghost had called it ectoplasm exposure, and that it didnāt negatively affect him. It was probably one of the only reasons he was alive; that and the accelerated healing factor.
He ran a hand through his dirty hair. He couldnāt even remember the last time he had taken a bath. Soot and dirt was so caked in his hair, that he hadnāt even seen the brown of his hair in months. His hair had turned a dark black. It reminded him of his father, but also of his failures. His eyes were as green as Taliaās, but they were dark with the weight of his failures. His tanned skin was sickly pale from the lack of light he received.
He heard a nearby scream, but made no moves towards it. It wasn't his problem. Still, he slipped the mask back over his head, making the world quiet to him once more. He stood slowly, taking the extra time to stretch.
He never knew when he would run for his life.
His stomach rumbled. He should probably find some food, and try to get some kind of sleep. He knew he was in the same dimension as Plasmius, but he didnāt know if it was the same time or place. He might have to relocate quickly once he caught Plasmiusās trail.
He scaled the side of the building behind him. Climbing was second nature to him since he had been inspired by Spiderman and had added grip pads to his suit. It was much easier than grappling, and much quieter. He perched on the roof, taking a moment to look at the city he had landed in.
Something about the city tugged at his heart. It was familiar in a way he felt familiar with, yet he knew he had never set foot here before. It reminded him of a bigger version of Amity Park, if it had been allowed to expand and become a vast metropolis.
Maybe in this dimension, Amity Park hadnāt been swarmed by werewolves and destroyed in the Middle Ages. Or perhaps the vampire revolution hadnāt ever occurred. Any number of possibilities were possible. Without looking through a history book, he wasnāt sure why Amity Park was so much bigger than it should be.
Movement caught his eye as a shadow moved across the street. He followed the movement with his eyes, making sure it wasnāt a threat. From what he could see, a black-shadowed creature was hopping across the rooftop. He first thought of a vampire, or perhaps a fae, but from the distance he couldnāt be sure. Whatever it was, he wasnāt getting involved.
He made his way down the street from rooftop to rooftop as he followed the scent of food until it got stronger. He perched across the street from Batburger, anxiously licking his lips. He hadnāt had a hot meal in so long that he was practically drooling at the mouth at the thought of the fast food establishment. The last planet he had been on hadnāt been civilized enough to have cities or fast food establishments, so he had lived off of animals that he had to catch himself.
He dropped to the ground carefully so as not to hurt himself. He looked around from the shadows before walking into Batburger, his fingers quickly moving to turn off the night vision goggles inside his mask. The restaurant was cold, and music played in the background that he didnāt recognize. He calmly walked to the counter without looking up at the menu.
āCan I help you?ā The girl behind the counter asked. She had pale white skin, dark red hair, and was wearing a purple shirt with a bat symbol across the chest.
āFood.ā He muttered in English. His voice was raspy from lack of use. He struggled to make the words formā had never been the best at speaking English. His family had mostly spoken other languages other than English, such as his native tongue of Arabic, and Maddieās native Russian tongue. But while he didnāt speak English that much, he was fluent in the language and could understand it better than he could speak it.
āUmm.ā The girl chuckled awkwardly, āWhat kind of food? Do you want a Batburger meal?ā
He glanced down at the name tag on her chest. āVanessa.ā He said slowly, looking the girl in the eye, āGive me food.ā
The girl seemed a bit intimidated by him, which made him feel slightly odd. He wasnāt even trying to be intimidating. He just wanted food. āAh, Batburger meal, you say? I'll take it.ā
āOkay. Are you paying with cash or card?ā
āPay?ā He asked, unfamiliar with the term. He racked his brain, trying to come up with a definition of the English word.
āDonāt worry about it.ā A voice said from the back, āJust give him the food.ā
āOkay, boss.ā Vanessa hummed, handing him a bottle of water.
He stared at the water in awe. He hadnāt seen bottled water in years. Excitedly, he pulled the mask off of his face, holding it in his left hand as he opened the lid to the water and greedily drank the entire bottle. The cool water tasted like liquid gold to him.
āAnother.ā He demanded, looking the girl in the eye.
She complied with his demand. This bottle he drank slower, not wanting to make himself sick. He was handed a tray of food, and he made his way to a table and began to eat, wrappers and all. After finishing as much as he could eat, he thanked the woman at the counter and left the establishment. He slipped his mask on before he left the restaurant, taking an additional moment to switch his night vision back on.
He twisted his left arm, pulling up a hologram. He had lost his arm when he was twelve to a vampire. The vampire attempted to turn him, so his father had cut his arm off to stop the spread of the vampireās venom. It had worked, and he got a cybernetic arm from the ordeal. He mostly used it for extra storage for guns and grenades.
The hologram was entwined with Plasmiusās ecto signature. It showed the presence of the ghost, but not that he had arrived yet. He still had time to take a nap. Dimensional travel was unpredictable, and sometimes crossing over took seconds or days. He was able to make it multiple streets over to nap undisturbed. It was almost serene, up until a homeless man tried to mug him. Then he was forced back to being awake and he now had to hide a dead body. That was life, he supposed.
He wandered for hours, exploring the city in a way he hadnāt been able to do for years. He learned the city name was Gotham, and it was in almost the same place Amity Park had been before the werewolf attacks of 1031. After that, Amity Park moved to modern-day Illinois.
It was barely two hours later when he noticed the first Wayne Enterprises building. He initially paid it no attention; the name Wayne meant nothing to him. But then he caught sight of the advertisement and stopped in his tracks.
His father was staring at him from a billboard, but looked far healthier than Danny had ever seen him. Gone was the fat that plagued his body; gone was the hideous orange spandex suit his father always wore. Instead, his father, Bruce, was younger-looking, fit, and wore a very nice suit. He had known his fatherās first name was Bruce, but he had always preferred to go by Jack in his dimension, because he had disliked the name Bruce.
He stared at the billboard for longer than he should have. If his father was the face of Wayne Enterprises, what about him? Was Damian still alive? What about Jazz and Maddie?
The sun had risen and set before his ecto alarm went off. He quickly followed the alarm, arriving deeper in the city than he had been before. The closer he got, the angrier he got. He saw obvious signs of a battle, one that wasnāt being won. Why hadnāt his alarms gone off earlier? Or was this battle being lost so fast that the area around was destroyed?
āRobin!ā A gruff voice yelled.
He heard a grunt of pain up ahead. Grabbing the swords from his backside, he was able to block an ecto blast that wouldāve hit āRobinā. The figure on the ground gasped as he stepped out of the shadows, standing protectively over the human on the ground. Robin was wearing a vigilante costume made of reds, greens, and yellows that barely concealed the teenās form. Sticky red blood lined his stomach that was bleeding profusely. He could see the black shadow nearby. The one who had shouted for this Robin, if he had to guess.
āTake him to safety.ā He said in heavily accented English.
āYou.ā Plasmius spat.
Plasmius looked the same as he always did. Pale blue skin with dark black hair that was shaped in two spikes on top of his head. The manās white suit was dirty, splotted with dirt and grime of their previous battles.
āDid you think I would not follow you here?ā He asked in rapid Ghost Speak.
Plasmius growled, his hands lighting in pink energy. āI thought I had squashed you like a bug during our last encounter.ā His words were in Ghost Speak, but he could understand the language just as easily as he could Arabic or Russian.
āIt takes more than that to kill me.ā He smirked, knowing that Plasmius couldnāt see the expression. He kept the attention off of Robin long enough for him and the black shadow to vanish over the side of the building.
Part of him wondered if that was an alternate version of himself. Or perhaps it was some unfortunate human that had been in the wrong place at the wrong time. It didnāt matter to Danny; he needed to stop Plasmius.
Bringing up his swords, he swung them in a wide arc that Plasmius had anticipated. The two clashed with swords and fire, making the building crumble around them. Neither noticed the destruction they caused as their fight raged on; buildings collapsed, fires spread, but neither could beat the other.
A red and blue blur knocked Plasmius out of the air. He barely had time to register the attack before he was joined by other vigilantes that he didnāt recognize. He glanced at a hero in red and yellow with a lightning bolt on his chest. The hero saluted him and gestured for him to join the others on the ground.
For the first time, he looked down and realized he had been flying. He didnāt even know he could do that, but Clockwork had warned him that the more he interacted with Plasmius and Clockwork that there would be changes. He gracefully landed on the ground, sheathing his blades as the hero approached him. The heroās hands were held up in a sign of peace as the man slowly moved towards Danny.
āMy name is the Flash,ā The man said, āCan you tell me whatās going on?ā
āHeās evil.ā He hissed out.
āI can see that.ā Flash said, purposely talking slower. āAnything you can tell me about him?ā
āEvil.ā He repeated.
āI donāt think he speaks good English.ā Flash said to himself.
He looked up where the red and blue hero had been battling Plasmius. While Plasmius was strong, he seemed to be evenly matched with the man in red and blue. But where the new heroās fighting style was different, it was enough to trip Plasmius up enough that Plasmius looked like he was going to flee.
Getting an idea, he pointed to his wrist. āThereās a device on his wrist. Destroy it.ā
Flash nodded in understanding. āSupes. Our new friend says thereās a device on his wrist that you need to destroy.ā
āGotcha!ā Superman responded.
The dynamic of the fight shifted once Superman switched from offense to defense. It only took a few minutes for Superman to grab Plasmiusās wrist and destroy the dimension device, effectively trapping Plasmius in this dimension. Superman then punched Plasmius in the face hard enough to knock the man out.
Could it really have been that easy?! His eyes widened under his mask as a man in green flew over and encased Plasmius in a glowing green shield.
āNow,ā Superman landed in front of him, looking him up and down, āWe should have a chat.ā
āYes,ā He agreed, then pointed at Plasmius. āAfter I kill him.ā
āWe donāt kill.ā Superman crossed his arms. āWeāll lock him up in a secure facility and interrogate him.ā
āYou don't understand,ā He hissed, getting in Supermanās face. He watched as the man tensed, but didnāt move to attack him, āHeās dangerous.ā
āSo are you.ā Superman pointed out.
āHmph,ā He grunted, crossing his arms. āYes, but itās not the same.ā
āWhy donāt we take this talk back to HQ?ā Flash suggested. āYou could just follow us.ā
āNo.ā He shook his head pointing to Plasmius. āHeās my prisoner.ā
āWould it make you feel better if you guarded him?ā Green Lantern asked.
āIt would be better if he was dead.ā He flexed his fingers, aching to grab his sword and drive it through Plasmiusās chest.
āThatās not going to happen.ā Green Lantern said.
āFine.ā He scoffed, āLead the way.ā
Flash exchanged a glance with Superman. The two seemed to have a silent conversation that lasted seconds, but to turn was minutes. Eventually, Flash turned and ran in a different direction, leaving the other three behind. He mentally shrugged, and felt his feet leave the ground as he thought about his flight ability. He was thankful he had a full face mask on, because his face was full of surprise as he realized flying was as easy as thought.
It wouldnāt be hard for him to wait until night fell to sneak into the holding chambers and murder Plasmius. For the first time, he was hopeful that his ordeal would soon be over. Everyone and everything he had lost would soon be avenged.
The heroes led him to an abandoned warehouse at the edge of town. From there, they teleported to another location. Flash had given him a temporary code to use to access the teleporter. From what he could tell of the secondary location, it was somewhere in the middle of the sea, fully enclosed and in a remote part of the Atlantic Ocean. He watched silently as Plasmius was put in a holding cell that Danny knew would never hold him.
As the heroes turned to lead him away, he scoffed audibly. This action gathered the attention of all the heroes, none of which questioned him as Danny reached into his toolbelt and pulled out a glowing piece of chalk. This chalk was something of his own design, something he had based off of old vampire witch hunts that he used to do with Jack. He opened the door to the cage and walked inside, and began to draw ornate symbols on the walls and floor. As he finished the sigil, the holding cell began to glow brightly. He immediately hovered in the air and rushed out of the cell, closing the door. The same symbols that would hold Plasmius would also contain him due to his ectoplasm exposure. There was a bright flash of light, but it died quickly. The holding cell itself looked normal, with a small cot, a toilet, and bare gray walls. A satisfied smirk spread across his lips as he placed the glowing green chalk back into his pockets.
The only way for Plasmius to escape from the sigils now was a complicated ritual involving the sacrifice of a virgin, which he highly doubted that Plasmius would have access to. This meant that until he was able to sneak back in, Plasmius would be contained enough for Danny to kill him without a fight.
Like a lamb ready for the slaughterhouse.
He followed the heroes to a conference room. The conference room itself was large, easily spacious enough to hold twenty people. A large table was in the middle of the room, with chairs surrounding the entire length of the table. A large television was mounted to the wall, but otherwise the room was bare.
He took a seat in the back of the room, his back to the wall. He put his feet up on the table, pulling a candy bar from his pocket. He had swiped it from Flash, making the man pat his own pockets and squawk out an indignant, āHey!ā as Danny began to eat. He paid it no mind as he savored the flavors of chocolate and caramel. When was the last time he had a candy bar? It must have been some time before his 14th birthday, but he didnāt know exactly.
āSo.ā Superman sat next to him. āWhat can you tell us about what happened?ā
He studied Supermanās face intently for a long moment. Deciding he really had nothing to lose, he dropped the empty candy wrapper, letting it fall onto the floor as he moved his hand to unclasp his mask. He put his feet down as the mask unclipped, and he tugged it off of his head. He set the mask down onto the table, noticing immediately how all of the heroes tensed at his appearance, but the black shadow in the corner of the room most of all.
āMy name is Danyal Al-Ghul.ā He said, his green eyes becoming brighter as he felt the ectoplasm run through his veins. āIām from another dimension. The man that you would not let me kill, his name is Plasmius. He is the harbinger of destruction. He has killed billions of people, killed planets, and I have been chasing him through time and space for over six months.ā
He stood, the chair falling behind him with a loud clank. He twisted his arm, his Holo-Screen coming to life. His bionic fingers moved with his thoughts, curling into a fist. Not that the heroes could see his arm, since he was still covered from the neck down in his specialty made armor from his time on Krypton.
The holo-screen showed Plasmiusās profile that he had written, but it took him a long moment to realize that the file had been written in Ghost Speak, not in English. āHe was supposed to await trial on my Earth for crimes against humanity, but he blew up the planet before I could catch him.ā His voice was dangerously low as he felt pain seep into his words. āHe has destroyed 13 versions of Earth, the moon of another, multiple alien planets, and caused destruction on another 5 Earths but did not destroy them, as he fled the dimension before the planet could be destroyed.ā
As he spoke, he cycled through footage he had recorded during their fights. Destruction, murder, and explosion after explosion as he failed to save another Earth. The room was silent with the weight of the information he told them, and decided he had shown enough evidence. He turned his wrist again, effectively turning off the Holo-Screen.
āPlasmius is guilty.ā He told the room, leaving no room for argument. āHe will not change, and needs to be exterminated before he kills this planet.ā
The adults of the group exchanged glances, some shifting uncomfortably in their seats. It was hard to tell what they were thinking; he hadnāt run across a variant of these heroes before in all of his travels. He mostly came across Earths with no heroes, or vastly different heroes, such as the Avengers.
āIf you kill him, what happens to you?ā Green Lantern asked.
He tilted his head. āWhat do you mean?ā
āYou said your Earth was Destroyed,ā Green Lantern clarified, āYou donāt have a home to return to.ā
He cocked an eyebrow. Flash, who had been sitting beside Green Lantern, smacked the green-clad heroās arm, scolding Lantern under his breath.
āNo, Flash, it is a valid question.ā Danny hummed thoughtfully. āI have been on the run for six months chasing Plasmius, however war on my planet had broken out two years before that.ā
He paused, contemplating how much to tell the heroes. It was in his nature to keep his secrets close to his chest. When Clockwork had approached him all those years ago, he had once been promised that if he brought the head of Plasmius to Clickwork, he would be able to go back in time and save his Earth before everything had happened. But over time, he had learned that his Earth <i>must</i> die. If his Earth did not die, it would never have prompted Danny to take revenge, and chase Plasmius across the dimensions. For all of the dimensions that suffered at the hands of Plasmius, it was a fixed point in time. The timeline had changed, and it was now permanent.
āWhile itās true my Earth has been destroyed and I have no home to return to, that doesnāt mean I have to stay here.ā Danny replied, āI can leave and go to any universe I want to.ā
The man in black took a step forward, āif you want to stay in this universe, you can stay with me.ā
āBatmanā¦ā Superman turned to the man dressed in black, āAre you sure?ā
Batman reached for his face, pulling the cowl down. Dannyās expression didnāt change, but he felt the shock in his stomach. Standing before him in a costume that reminded him of a vampire, was his father, Jack.
āJack?ā His eyebrows scrunched together. He studied the manās face for any signs of vampirism as he stood and walked closer to his father. Jackās eyes were a bright blue, lacking the silver ring around his eyes that was an indicator of vampirism. The man also didnāt smell faintly of ginger root, which was another indicator of vampirism.
āI go by Bruce in this universe.ā Bruce said, watching Danny with the same intensity that he was studying Ja-Bruce with.
āDo I exist in this universe?ā He asked.
He knew all too well about having incursions from having two of the same person in the same timeline at the same time would do. He had accidentally triggered the event a few weeks after he had begun to chase Plasmius, by interacting with that version of himself from Earth.
āYou died when you were five.ā Bruce responded, his voice thick.
āWhat of Damian?ā
Just to say his twinās name out loud hurt something deep inside of him.
āHeās alive.ā Bruce confirmed.
A small smile spread across his lips. His interest has definitely peaked now.
Ok so in this fandom we always have Danny hating Bruce because heās rich, but I donāt think he would.
A billionaire that doesnāt want to kill his father and marry his mother? Sign him up!
He would stick the Bruce like glue as soon as they meet just to spite Vlad.
He would walk up to Bruce and be like: āYouāre my uncle now!ā
And Bruce being the troll he is would go along with it. These two are family now. So what if we just met this is my nephew.
The others would go along with it too. This is their cousin what are you talking about? Weāve known each other since birth!
Bruce was genuinely startled when a young man came up from behind him and threaded an arm around his own, linking them together. His situational awareness was second only to Cass, people did not sneak up on him. He glanced to see a young man he did not know, with dark hair and pale skin.
"We've known each other for years, you are practically my uncle." The boy whispered before pulling Bruce around. The young man was much stronger than his thin limbs appeared, forcing Bruce to turn on his heel.
Bruce opened his mouth to speak, probably to ask who exactly his new 'nephew' was, but was interrupted by an unfortunately familiar older voice.
"Daniel, you really must stop acting like a child. You cannot run from this conversation." said Vlad Masters.
Bruce really very much did not like Vlad Masters. He was slimy, cutthroat, and as his kid's would say had 'bad vibes'.
"I wasn't running." Daniel, apparently, lied. "I just spotted my Uncle B and wanted to say hi. Not everything is about you."
"You don't have an uncle."
Bruce turned his smile up to megawatt levels. He knew all he needed to know.
"Of course he does!" Bruce practically shouted. "Vladdie! I didn't realize you knew Danny too! What a small world. Isn't he just great?"
Vlad finally noticed him, shock coming ocer his features when he saw Bruce Wayne, then worsening when he saw their linked arms. A spike of petty glee infused his heart at the way Vlad looked confused and outraged. Bruce turned his head and waved down Tim from.acrosd the room.
"Tim! Look, it's your cousin Danny. He's in town for the charity gala!"
Tim, bless his heart, didn't even bother to look confused. Instead he rushed over to them and pulled Danny into a hug that Danny easily returned.
"Oh my gosh! Danny, it's been forever. How have you been?"
"Tim! It's been awesome. I got your birthday gift last week, the telescope is awesome. I havent had time to try it out, you have to get out into the country for the best views."
"I'm glad you like it!" Tim said, putting so much genuine emotion into his voice that anyone would think Tim had spent hours agonizing over the right gift.
"I got you a telescope." Vlad said, mouth still open in dumbfounded shock.
"Tim got me one that is so much cooler." Danny said. "He and Uncle B have the best taste for this stuff."
"Don't feel too bad Vladdie." Bruce consoled, keeping his tone as serene as possible. "We've known Danny since he was a baby, of course we know what he likes best."
"How would you have even met him?" Vlad hissed at Danny.
Danny rolled his eyes.
"My parents are inventors. They met at a conference in gotham, back before our whole family settled in Amity. I dont even remember meeting Uncle B the first time. I was a baby."
"A very cute baby." Bruce added on, ruffling his hair in the way all teenagers hated.
"Uncle B! Stop messing with my hair." Danny whined, as if they had done this same thing a thousand times and reached up to smooth his hair again.
"Oh, don't worry, you still look great, Danny!"
"You know how B is." Tim reminded him.
Vlad looked apocalpetic with rage. Bruce had to bite the inside of his cheek to keep in his shit-eating grin.
"You would think Jack would have mentioned you to me Mr. Wayne."
"Oh you know how inventors are!" Bruce waved it off. "Jack would forget his head if it weren't attached. I haven't been able to visit in ages."
"Hmm. Quite."
"Yeah Vlad. I cant believe Dad didnt tell you that Uncle B offered me an internship this summer."
"You dont-"
"Wayne Enterprises has that aerospace department."
"Danny really is so gifted." Bruce demured. "Vladdie dont tell me you're trying to steal my nephew away?"
Vlad opened his mouth, whether to scream or bite Bruce's face off it wasn't clear.
"Was there something you needed, Mr. Masters?" Tim asked. "Since Danny is here i know the rest of the family would live to see him."
"No. No." Vlad said through gritted teeth. "I can chat with Daniel later."
The moment Vlad left, Danny relaxed and stepped a bit away from the two of them.
"Thanks. Vlad is just really-."
Bruce smiled at Danny, letting his mirth really show.
"No thanks needed Danny! We're family after all!"
Danny narrowed his eyes at him for a moment before grinning right back.
"Yeah. Family."
DC + DP
Danny Fenton died at fourteen. He came back. He didnāt die right. He became a hero. He became a hero because he loved amity park. Not the people. But Amity was his home.
Till it wasnāt. He was a monster to the people. Evil, ghost scum, disgusting. He hated it. Amity wasnāt safe for him. It wasnāt a home. Amity park was a graveyard. A place of everything heād lost, perhaps it was time to move on.
So with tear stained cheeks he left. He left his humanity behind. He lived in the realms. He thrived. He learned. But he still haunted the place that could have been his home.
Danny Phantom was still hated, his name still spat on. But so was Danny Fenton. That hurt. It hurt to have his parents talk about him like a stranger. Like he was some cautionary tale.
They said the ghosts had gotten him. Had dragged him of, had killed him. They said it was his fault for not being careful. Yes he always believed the ghosts werenāt evil. Look what became of him.
Danny had loved them for years. Loved them when they shot at him. Loved them when they talked of ripping him appart. He was a ghost. They hated ghosts! Besides they didnāt know he was Phantom.
but now? Now He hated them. Heād bee. Their son. Heād been their child. āDanny Fenton, his curiosity his undoing.ā Thatās what they put in his gravestone.
not beloved son. Not kind friend. No, they put āhis curiosity his undoing.ā That hurt. But the words didnāt matter.
No it was the fact that when heād first gotten a gravestone, come to watch the fake corpse be lowered into earth heād expected them to be there. They werenāt. They were back in their lab. Like always.
Except it wasnāt a track meet. It wasnāt a soccer game. Or a parent teacher meeting. It was his burial. And theyād missed it, to chase ghosts.
He ignored that. Perhaps theyād forgetting. They forgot a lot of things. They remember eventually. Theyād come by. Right? Surely theyād come by, if just to leave a flower. Just one? Surely.
So he waited.
And waited.
And they didnāt come.
So he moved on. He built a life outside of them. A life with him and Dani and Jazz. He ruled the realms, learnt from clockwork. He grew up.
Years passed, he learned how the realms worked. How the people were, he learned. The full extent of his powers. Back in Amity Park Daniel Fenton became a memory. Back in Amity Park Phantomās name was still cursed.
until someone remembered him. Clark Kent had made a roadtrip of visiting his parents. They ended up stopping in Amity.
He heard about Phantom. Heard how they cursed him. He asked about it. They told him about a monster. An evil no good beast.
He didnāt believe them. Phantom sounded like a hero. A hero still learning. He also sounded like a child. So he asked around some more. He met Tucker Foley, visiting his parents for thanksgiving.
He told a diffrent story. He told about a hero. A young hero. He told him how heād save people, how heād get hurt. He talked about him with a reverence.
Clark asked what happened. Because heroes donāt just disappear. They donāt just abandon places. Especially not after fighting so hard. Tucker didnāt know what to say. So he lied.
He told him that everyone thinks he left for no reason. But my guess is he left because of Dannyās death. He talked about how Danny didnāt think they were evil. He talked about how the two made the same puns. How they looked the same.
He told him his guess was they knew each other In life. That they were related. He told him Phantom was always the same age. They could have been twins, he said with a laugh.
Clark leaves, he has thanks giving at his parents. And he studies. He learns. He sees the CPS reports. He reached out to Jazz, she tells them her parents were unstable, tell him their parents were unstable. She cuts of the call after saying āthey got him killed at 14.ā
Clark notices. Fourteen wasnāt when Danny died. He died at sixteen. Phantom is their sibiling. The eldest child, the one who died however many years ago. But Jazz remembered him.
They had moved to Amity Park when Jazz was seven. Phantom must have died. Thatās why they moved. It had to have been. And phantom watched them, staying behind to protect his siblings. Protect them from his parents. Then things had gone wrong. Heād become a hero, and they called him a villain. When Jazz moved out he showed up less. When Danny died he vanished.
Clark feels lost. He wished it hadnāt ended that way for Phantom.
So he writes. He writes about a hero. He writes about Danny too. He writes. And Danny watches. Danny finds the newspaper on his grave. Left by Sam and Tucker. He smiles.
The flowers pile up on his grave.
One
Two
Three
Danny cries. He moved on long ago. But itās nice to be mourned. Even if itās by people who never knew him.
-
Bye :)
I'm bored
Danny and supervillian/mad scientists jack and maddie
Buuut, they don't know that Danny's a hero and his siblings ( a deaged dan that the same age as danny, ellie, and jazz) are following their parents......slightly.
Dan is fine with being a villian, but he's more of an anti hero. Ellie just causes chaos and tries to be evil like jack and maddie but she keeps failing and makes everything better. Jazz isn't even doing anything really she's just scary and can live normally despite everyone knowing that she's their kid. Vlads just the overbearing godfather who indulges them.
Anyhow danny doesn't want his parents to know for fear of getting grounded or it being called a faze( like the thundermans with max but with opposite roles if you understand the reference)
So oneday his brother, Dante also known as the wraith is doing stuff downtown and danny is out as phantom and he's with a team.
Danny and his team stopping wraith
Wraith annoyed: stop this brother
Phantom: or what
Wraith: or I tell mom
Phantom:.........
Phantom: ....you wouldn't
Wraith: I would, I'll do it right now watch me
Wraith: MO-
Phantom: random noises
Wraith: MOO-
Phantom: more random noises
Wraith: loser says what
Phantom: what??
Wraith: you owe me a cujo day
Phantom: you bastard-
Wraith leaving: MOOOM YOUR SONS OUT VIGALANTING AGAIN
Phantom flying after him as his team watched amused: NO IM NOT HES A LIER WHO LIES.

Another DPxDC drabble, this time Sam going to Bruce Wayne for help
Who knows, maybe I'll add this to the dead on main fic I'm working on. We'll see. Anyway, more under the cut.
The air was cold and clammy, laden with heavy gray clouds and drizzling sheets of rain when Sam Manson stepped out onto the driveway. The rain pattered a steady rhythm on her black umbrella and she folded her long batwing sleeve over her arm to shut the car door behind her. The sleek black airport taxi idled quietly behind her as she turned to take in the familiar mansion looming before her.
The wrought iron gate arcing above her head was slick with rain, but a singular call button and speaker sat sheltered out of the rain. Sam approached and reached to press the button with a single black-tipped finger. The speaker hummed to life a moment later.
āWayne Manor, Alfred Pennyworth speaking. How may I help you?ā The voice was smooth and poshly British, and Sam took a breath of the cool October air.
A DC X DP IDEA #44
Three Teens, Three Crowns, and a Whole Lot of Nope
Imagine disā¦
I was just shuffling around my playlist when I heard that song from the animated movie El Dorado and it made me thinking, so here it goesā¦
ā¦
DANNYāS POV
The moment my best friends bit the ghostly dust, the universe decided to hand us a set of crowns we didnāt ask for. Because obviously, nothing says āCongratulations on your tragic deaths!ā like a full-time job in the afterlife.
Tucker, in a plot twist no one saw coming (except maybe Clockwork, because that guy cheats), turned out to be the reincarnation of some ancient Pharaoh. Not just any Pharaohāoh noāhe got the VIP pass straight to the top of the Egyptian pantheon, answering only to me, the so-called King of the Infinite Realms. Because if there's one thing Iāve learned, it's that my best friend is destined to be the world's first tech-savvy, WiFi-dependent god-king of the afterlife.
Sam, on the other hand, had always been a little too into nature, and I guess the universe finally decided to roll with it. When she synced up perfectly with Undergrowthās power, the big walking salad declared her his heir, making her the literal Queen of Nature. So now, Sam basically has dominion over every plant in existence, which means I can never make an offhand comment about preferring artificial Christmas trees without getting a death glare.
And me? Well, since I yeeted Pariah Dark back into the sarcophagus where he belonged, the Infinite Realms figured I should be the one running the place. So, lucky meāI got promoted to Ghost King, a position that comes with all the responsibility and none of the training manual.
Now, youād think thatās enough responsibility for a trio of teenagers who just wanted to survive high school. But no, Clockwork took one look at us, decided we sucked at ruling, and thought, Hey, letās make this fun! So instead of, I donāt know, giving us an actual lesson in leadership, he chucked us into a completely different dimension (because, sure, why not?) and told us to start cults.
Yep. You heard that right. Cults.
No warning, no instructions, just a āfigure it outā and a push into the deep end. One minute weāre in the Ghost Zone, the next weāre scattered across this weird universe like a really weird cosmic prank.
So now Iām stuck in Gotham, which, by the way, might be more haunted than the Ghost Zone itself. I have no idea where Sam and Tucker ended up, but if I know them, Tuckerās probably convinced a bunch of tech bros to worship him as some cyber-god, and Samās singlehandedly turning a park into her new throne. Meanwhile, I have to somehow convince people to follow me without sounding like a lunatic.
This is going to be fun. (Spoiler: It wonāt be.)
ā¦
SAMāS POV
Gotham reeked of smoke, oil, and decay. Beneath its gothic beauty was a suffocating lifelessness, an unnatural cage of steel and concrete. The city was a graveyard where nature had been paved over and left to rot in the shadows of towering skyscrapers. It was unacceptable. It was offensive. And Sam was going to change it.
She wasted no time. The moment her feet hit Gothamās cracked pavement, she started planting seedsāboth literally and metaphorically. It began with whispers. A small movement. A group that promised something different. Gotham had no shortage of lost soulsācriminals, outcasts, the downtrodden looking for something beyond the city's endless cycle of crime and punishment. But Sam wasnāt offering power or chaos like every other Gotham lunatic. No, she offered something much rarer: sustainability.
Food. Shelter. Community.
It started with fresh produce, rare and valuable in Gothamās urban wasteland. No one questioned where it came from, only that it was fresh, free of toxins, and worth more than a stack of stolen cash. The deal was simpleāmanual labor in exchange for nourishment. Gothamās criminals, many of whom spent their lives getting stabbed, shot, or beaten in some turf war, found the idea shockingly reasonable. Hospitals ate through their earnings. Gang life was profitable until you bled out in an alley. But a place that provided food, healing, and protection? That was something different. That was better.
The movement grew. What began as a handful of desperate people looking for a way out became something bigger. The streets whispered of a new force rising, one that didnāt deal in violence or corruption but in rootsāroots that burrowed deep, that refused to be ignored.
At first, the Batfamily dismissed it as background noise. In a city filled with psychopaths dressed as clowns, what was a little nature cult? But when Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn vanishedānot in a grand escape, not in a fiery explosion, but simply faded into the movementātheir indifference turned to concern.
When Ivy resurfaced, she wasnāt the same. The wild unpredictability had been tempered into something focused. Controlled. She still worshipped nature, but now she had a leader, someone she called High Priestess. And that leader wasnāt some ancient force of the Green. It wasnāt a metahuman, a scientist, or a villain. It was a teenager.
A black-haired, violet-eyed girl who stood in front of kneeling followers, leading ceremonies beneath the growing canopy of Gothamās first true forest in centuries.
Sam had never been one for blind worship. She despised mindless devotion. But this wasnāt about faithāit was about purpose. The people who followed her werenāt zealots; they were survivors. They had seen what Gothamās endless cycle of crime and violence had to offer, and they wanted out. She gave them that. She gave them a cause. And if it meant being called a cult leader, then fine. Whatever. Labels didnāt matter. Results did.
And Gotham was changing.
The city fought back, of course. The corruption, the crime families, even the Bat himselfānone of them liked an unpredictable element in their precious, miserable ecosystem. But Sam had never been one to back down. Gotham was sick, diseased, rotting. She wasnāt here to burn it down like some power-hungry villain. She was here to fix it.
And if the Bats wanted to stop her, wellā
Let them try.
ā¦
TUCKERāS POV
Metropolis was beautiful. It was clean, it was bright, and it was bursting with technology. Skyscrapers gleamed under the sun, state-of-the-art AI patrolled the streets, and futuristic inventions were integrated into everyday life like it was no big deal. This was a city that worshiped innovation, where science and technology werenāt just tools but pillars of society.
Tucker should have been in heaven.
But he had a mission to complete before he could sit back and enjoy the wonders of Metropolis. Clockworkās orders. And if the old ghost had taught him anything, it was that ignoring his cryptic guidance usually led to bad things. So, no indulging in the cityās top-tier tech just yet. He had a kingdom to build.
At first, Superman didnāt even notice him. That was fine. Tucker wasnāt looking to pick a fight with the worldās strongest hero. He moved in the background, setting up encrypted networks, hijacking digital footprints, and planting just enough static in the cityās airwaves to keep any unwanted super-snooping off his back. The occasional glitch in Supermanās super-hearing? That was Tucker, laying the groundwork.
But the real disruption came when people started vanishing.
Not just any peopleātech specialists, programmers, engineers. The kind of minds corporations fought over, the ones Luthorās company owned through shady contracts and blackmail. One by one, they disappeared from Metropolis, slipping through the cracks like digital ghosts.
The city was no stranger to missing persons. Metropolis saw its fair share of people vanishing into the underbelly of crime, alien invasions, or one of Lex Luthorās ever-growing list of sinister schemes. But this? This was too precise, too targeted. Luthorās R&D departments were bleeding talent at an alarming rate, and the usual suspects werenāt responsible.
The only common thread? The Code of Ra.
It started as an urban mythāa secretive group offering sanctuary to tech minds who had seen too many of their peers exploited, coerced, or ārecruitedā by the so-called forces of good and evil. They were promised a place where their work was valued, where they were free to create without fear of it being stolen, weaponized, or locked behind corporate greed.
And at the center of it all? Him.
Tucker hadnāt just built a cultāheād built a kingdom. One where technology wasnāt a tool for war, where engineers and programmers werenāt disposable assets, where knowledge was sacred. He offered an intellectual utopia, a society where the greatest minds could work without limits. And the best part? They wanted to be there. There was no brainwashing, no coercion. The world had burned them too many times, and Tucker had simply given them an alternative.
And, okay, maybe he leaned into the whole Pharaoh thing a little. He was a reincarnated ruler, after allāmight as well own it. Gold-trimmed robes, sleek futuristic stylings with ancient Egyptian aesthetics, and a throne room that looked like a cyberpunk temple. Heād always thought heād look good in royal attire, and damn, was he right.
But his people didnāt follow him because of the theatrics. They followed because he gave them something no one else hadāfreedom.
Superman, unaccustomed to dealing with cults, found himself in unfamiliar territory. He had fought tyrants, warlords, and intergalactic conquerors, but a movement built on voluntary devotion? That wasnāt as simple as punching a bad guy. Normally, this was the kind of mess Batman or Wonder Woman would handle. But Diana was off-world, and Gotham had its own cult problem. That left the burden squarely on Supermanās shoulders.
And Tucker? Tucker was more than ready to enjoy the show.
ā¦
DANNYāS POV
The desert sucked.
Like, really sucked.
If he ever made it out of this, he was going to personally petition the Ghost Zone to just delete the concept of sand from existence. Sand was evil. It got everywhere, it was hot, and it made him feel like a melting popsicle under a blowtorch.
His ice core hated him. His human half hated him. The sun was having the time of its life roasting him alive. And thenānothing.
When he woke up, things got weirder.
For one, he wasnāt dead. Which, honestly, was a pleasant surprise considering the whole āheatstroke and possible dehydrationā situation. For another, he wasnāt lying in the sand anymore. Nope. Instead, he was inside a coffin.
Not the first time heād woken up in one, but still, rude.
He sat up, blinking blearily, and was immediately met with dozens of kneeling figures in dark robes. No one screamed. No one attacked. They just...stared.
Which, honestly? Way creepier than ghost attacks.
The air smelled like flowers, incense, and something ancient, like heād been dropped in the middle of an old temple. Around him were offeringsāliteral offeringsāof gold, silver, and silk. And the people? They were whispering. Murmuring things he barely understood, eyes shining with what he could only describe as religious awe.
Which was never a good sign.
Danny had questions. A lot of questions. But the big one?
What the actual heck was going on?
It took some timeāaka him sneaking around, eavesdropping, and pretending he had any idea what he was doingābut eventually, he figured it out.
These people? Every single one of them had died before. Not in the casual, āoops, tripped and fellā way, but in the full-on, flatline, bright light at the end of the tunnel way. And somehow, theyād come back. Some were resurrected, others survived things they shouldnāt have, but they all had one thing in common: they felt drawn to him.
Apparently, he was some kind of cosmic beacon for people whoād taken a one-way trip to the afterlife but forgot to stay there. To them, he wasnāt just some random ghost kidāhe was the King. The embodiment of balance, life and death, chaos and order. The guy who got to decide whether people stayed dead.
And that was so not on his resume.
But did that stop people from kneeling at his feet, swearing loyalty, and building a cult around him? Nope.
Did he ask for it? Also nope.
And somehow, it just kept getting bigger. At first, it was just the devoted ghost-adjacent weirdos. Then mercenaries. Then, a group of assassins and a guy named Ra. Even Slade freaking Wilson showed up one day, standing ominously at the back like the worldās most intense chaperone.
Danny didnāt do cults. He wasnāt qualified for cults. He was barely qualified for high school.
But Clockwork had said he needed to establish one, and, well...mission accomplished?
Now, all he had to do was find Sam and Tucker, reunite with his spouses, and figure out how to explain to them that, uh...he might have accidentally become a god-king of the undead.
Yeah. They were never gonna let him live this down.
ā¦
Ā PS: If someone out there wants to continue or make a fic about this you are free to do so, donāt forget to tag me though.
PPS: I tried a new type of writing. How is it?
Thinking about a forever teen Danny interacting with the batfam.. again lmao
The first time Danny interacted with a Bat was when he was squatting in what he assumed was an abandoned apartment in crime alley. Spoiler alert; it wasn't abandoned! It was, in fact, Red Hood's safe house.
Danny had been napping on the "surprisingly nice" bed, (The bed being so nice should have tipped him off, but he was so tired, damnit.) when Red Hood enters the room, startling Danny awake. They stare at each other for a minute, since neither expected to see another person there. Danny breaks the moment by diving off the bed, snatching up his backpack, and launching himself out the window he had crawled in from. Danny ignores the cussing and calling for him to wait.
So you know how in DC they have 5th dimensional Imps? Like Batmite, Nite-Mite and Mr Mxyzptlk?
What if Little Baby Man is just one of those, and just like Batmite and Nite-Mite, he enamored by Danny and chooses his form to be like him?
Danny, blinking because this weird noodle version of himself just appeared, and started yapping nonstop about how it is his biggest fan: Oh...um...thank you? I really appreciate um...you? But I like...gotta get my homework done, Vlads been sniffing around a lot and like...I really just want to pass this test?
Little Baby Man, nodding slowly, eyes big as saucers, slowly reaching out and grabbing Danny's face with his tiny hands: I cans make em gos away if yous want my favorite?
(I am thinking that Little Baby Man is like, actual little baby, like he is above time and all that, but by Imp standards he is young)
Danny, remembering all the shit that Desiree puts him through each time that he fights her, then looking to his homework: Y'know what? Fuck it we ball.
And that is how Danny ends up in the DC world, because Little Baby Man wanted a cross over.
Danny, after just appearing in Gotham with a pop: Huh.
Danny walking around this new city, LBM in his pocket, and Danny is playing with him: Hey not the fingers!
Danny, wincing as the shades in this area keep on shrieking in his ear for help: Okay...I can see why you brought me here...
Little Baby Man, gnawing on Danny's finger with his snake like body wrapped around Danny's arm: Ya, yous so stronk, would be so coolz...u should fights that Lizards
A bat, watching from a rooftop as Danny does indeed fight that Lizard, watching intensely as this random twink that appeared randomly with...some sort of genetic mutation between human and ferret fights Killer Croc and seem to be having fun: Yo what the fuck?

DP x DC prompt.
We back, baby! I am warning you that this one is kinda flimsy, but I need it out of my head.
-------ā---ā-------------------
Dark souls esk Danny i guess.
Basicly.
Danny was one of the first heroes to exist, but no one ever exactly recognised that. Hence the fact he isn't very well known. His heroism ultimately ended with the GIW managing to completely seal off the ghost zone. Trapping him as the unwilling King of ghosts.
Danny is lonely. He has his servants, ghost friends, and animals to keep him company. But he hasn't had any real connections in so long. That is, until a new ghost appears in the zone. It's a child, fourteen, just like Danny when he died. The boy calls himself Robin. He shares his tale of woe, and Danny, seeing himself in the child, takes him in.
Robin became like his son. Not only was he the first human soul in the gz in decades, but he was also a source of hope. A connection to the living the ghosts had desperetly missed, a promise that one day they will be free.
Danny built him a library, cooked with him, sparred, played, they did everything together. Sometimes even sitting in silence.
---------------------------
"Hey, Danny?" Robin looked up at the half dead King, and he looked back down at him.
"Yeah, babybird?"
"If you were able to leave the ghost zone, even for just one day, what would you do?"
Danny thought. Humming and momentarily closing his eyes, "Well... I don't exactly have much to go back to. So if I could go back, even for one day..." He gave Robin a very serious look, "I would drag Joker back in with me."
Robin gave a vicious grin. He liked that answer.
---------------------------
The fun, of course, came to an end. Danny woke up one day to find no more Robin. He looked everywhere. The castle, the library, the far frozen, and beyond. Robin was gone, and Danny couldn't understand why.
He mourned.
And he never stopped mourning.
~~~
In the living realm, Jason woke up. No memory of the ghost zone. But with the overwhelming need to drag Joker down to hell.
~~~
Years later, the bats are fighting the Joker in an old warehouse previously used by a cult. Red Hood is there. Both Joker and Hood's blood spilled across the floor. Nothing lethal.
The old dusty summoning circle on the floor sparked to life. It glowed lazerious green, and a tall twisted figure emerged from a swirling green portal. Its joints popped and creeked, voice wheezing, its eyes glowing a visceral green, and its hair was long flowing and white. The body of the creature was shrouded in black dress, resembling an ancient mourning shroud. Its loud and wet sobs filled the room.
"JOKER!" It screeched. A gient clawed hand reached out, gripping the clown. The creature began to sink back into the portal with a groan. Dragging the Joker with it.
He screamed. Batman grabbed his hand. Nightwing grabbed Batman's cape. Red Hood, with an exhasperated sigh, gripped Nightwing's arm. Red Robin practicly wrapped himself around Red Hood's leg, and Robin clung to the back of Red Robin's suit as they were all dragged into the swirling portal.
~~~
The Bats woke to a swirling green and purple sky, floating doors upon the horizon.
Jason gazed at his surroundings. Floating islands, doors, and a castle not too far off. It screamed 'home' to him. He knew where he was, and most importantly, he knew where he needed to go.
---------------------------
Feel free to add to this if you wish.
So we all know the common cult trying to summon Pariah Dark and getting Danny thing, but what if they knew about the switch? What if they knew that Phantom was a protector and not a tyrant? What if instead of summoning him for power and whatnot they summoned him under the impression that he wasn't aware of the Ant-Ecto Act and wanted to inform the new king so he could take action? What if they summoned Danny from a GIW lab and he went into his cracked core once safe? What if the cult now has to steal Lazarus water and purify it to help heal and save the Ghost King while JL, JLD, and the League of Assassins are hunting them down. The JL and JLD hunting them since they have outdated info on the Ghost King and want to stop Pariah Dark while the Assassins are after them for stealing the contaminated ecto?
Thereās a new intern at Wayne enterprises and is somehow the brightest guy ever. He hops around dozens of departments (legally he really shouldnāt, itās not in his contract heās meant to be in the engineering division but everyone keeps referring him to other divisions to help) and helps solves issues and problems that theyāve been stuck on. Itās insane really. The term ācall for Dannyā is commonplace now whenever any department is having a mental roadblock. Whispers are going around that this kid might be as smart as their CEO Tim Drake.
Fear vs War
Danny was sitting in the living room watching a live Justice League fight. The fight was big enough that danny thought the camera was way to close to the fight. Then Fright Knight phases into the room through the floor.
DP x DC prompt [16]
Danny has been with the Wayneās for a while now and his status as a halfa is starting to affect some things he comes in contact with a little bit.
At first he thought this only happened back in his old home in Amity Park because the ectoplasm samples were kept in the fridge, and though that does speed up the process, it turns out Danny causes the same things to happen just fine on his own. It just takes a lot longer.
This means he now occasionally has to replace or decontaminate some of his things every once in a while. and with the electronics the same applies but usually the protections that Tucker has made do the trick too.
Danny has been very careful, he never borrows anything thatās highly susceptible to ecto-contamination from the others and whenever he needs something from the kitchen he just goes to Alfred (he really doesnāt want to see how the old man might react to the coffee machine starting to act weird because of Danny). Just, the last thing Danny wants to do is inconvenience the Wayneās by ecto-contaminating something of theirs.
Itās really only when Danny slips back into vigilante-ism that things go sideways.
And Danny really tried. His obsession is space, not heroism, so he figured heād be fine just focussing on his education. But he kinda forgot about the fact that he just really really loves being a hero.
He loves the thrill, the danger. He loves giving a smackdown and just in general having a good fight, he loves helping people, he loves being a force of good. And yeah, he kinda also likes the praise, but nothing weird and overbearing (some people go way too far in their hero worship, but thatās a story for another day)
So after some back and forth and arguments with Bruce who, contrary to popular belief, was absolutely not thrilled that his latest traumatized kid who was being kept safe in the mansion so far now decided that no, he wants to be part of the family business too please.
Danny eventually threatens to just go out anyway without any of his help and that just gives Bruce flashbacks to the time when he had just taken Dick as his ward. Not to mention some of his other kids and⦠dammit.
Well then⦠Danny can go explain things to Jason himself once he finds out and is probably going to be mad about it, Bruce is not taking the blame this time.
So Danny (name pending, he could just go with Phantom again, but he also wouldnāt mind using something bird or bat related) gets back into the game once again! And thatās fine thatās cool. But back to the original point.
Danny figured that he would just do what heās been doing so far with any bat gadgets as well, and maybe it would be even less of a problem cause heās pretty sure that these things break a lot more often because of all the fights and stuff.
What Danny had not really thought about though is potential intense high emotion situations. Like for very specific example; Scarecrow taking an obsessive interest in him because of Dannyās ghostly ability to feed on fear (somewhat) and the situation getting out of hand, him getting very hurt, Batman having to carry him out of there while Danny was kinda bleeding a bit (a lot). Bruce being worried and Danny wanting to be anywhere but there anymore and-
Well, you get the point.
So, take all that and add high tech bat armor and what you get is suddenly sentient batsuit.
It actually took a bit for anyone to catch on that something was going on, but it was eventually figured out. and once that was the case Danny couldnāt really help his seemingly endless stream of apologies.
But how can anyone ever blame him for bleeding out on Bruce and the weird reanimative properties of said blood making it so Bruceās suit can now ātalkā
Bruce described it more as like a martian mind link, which would explain why only he could hear things. itās probably only for the wearer.
It canāt move on itās own, it needs someone to wear it. But it can sense things and react for the wearer and honestly all that alone is more than enough reason to find a way to exorcise it⦠if not for the whole,
ābut if itās a sentient ecto entity now we canāt just ākillā it, we literally abolished the anti ecto acts just so that canāt be done anymoreā
itās probably a good thing the suit has grabbed all the āBatmanā and made that what it is. All the core values are there, so there isnāt going to be any risk of it killing someone at least.
Danny's Wail is strong, and it's only getting stronger.
It's getting to the point where he opened his mouth to sing in the shower, and he cracked the wall with his voice.
If he tries to use it in human form, it physically damages him. It's a "ghost form" only power, now.
To mitigate any potential incidents, he starts to talk less and less.
The school, usually uncaring of anyone not an athlete, notices.
They assume abuse.
How could they not? Bruises he refuses to explain, developing selective mutism, shying away from his parents?
Danny's horrified when Social Services is waiting for him in the principals office one day, and even more horrified that they're accusing his parents of abuse.
They aren't!
It's just his stupid body!
Thinking fast, he scrambles to write down a bullshit excuse, and lands on;
'I'm a meta like Black Canary, but way, way stronger! I can't talk or I'll hurt someone! The bruises are from like my parent's inventions and also me throwing myself into walls with my power! They don't know!'
Which leads to some uncomfortable talks about whether or not he feels safe enough at home, if there's a reason he didn't tell his parents, etc.
Then there was the whole thing of asking if he was lying, and Danny, annoyed and tired and ready to prove a point, just said
"No I'm not." In a normal voice, promptly bursting a few eardrums and shattering any glass.
Eventually he and the Social Workers come to a compromise; he does feel safe enough to tell his parents, and he will, and also Social Services will reach out to the Justice League to see about getting him some training from an official hero, especially if his Voice is that dangerous.
And that's how Danny ends up as the only civilian allowed in Titan's Tower; his access card sends out an alert so all the teen heroes keep their masks on, he has a zeta installed in Amity just for him, and he has to train with them. He also has special training instructions from Black Canary herself.
Second option. When given the choice of angst, always choose angst. And obviously Danny canāt out himself as Phantom. (Or he just forgets in the moment). Itāll be fine, heās sure the wail hasnāt grown strong enough to do actual damage. Everything will be fine.
ā¦A few moments later
Danny coughing up blood, lying on the ground gasping because he canāt breathe. His chest feels crushed and like all the air had been sucked out and he feels like his entire skeleton is vibrating. (Which it kinda is) Almost about to crack. So itās bad. And he canāt move.
And everything is awful.
BUT he knows that that his ghost powers can heal this.
His hero friends however?ā¦theyā¦do not know thisā¦and are promptly freaking out. And because Danny just overused his vocals chords and physically canāt move his body, he has no way to tell them it will be fine.
Wellā¦heās like 67% sure it will be fine.
Kon hear's Danny's heart stop.
Well...
More like he hears it explode.
He hears as Danny's insides explode. As his bones rattle so hard, they grind themselves to dust at the joints and tendons stressed so much they tear, no longer able to mitigate the rattling. It looks like he's seizing, but Kon knows. Kon knows Danny's dead.
All this extra movement is his muscles reacting to his own scream. Like a dead frog being electrocuted, or an octopus still squirming despite no conscience thought going through it.
This happened as Danny let out his Wail. Kon, and the others, were so far away. Danny died before he hit the ground. Probably midway through his sky splitting power eviscerating the Eldritch horror that had come to attack Seattle. Undergrowth stood no chance, becoming a fine mist that the wind torrents, caused by Danny, to blow away any possible remains.
Despite the scream cutting off his ability to hear, Kon, unfortunately, still had perfect Kryptonian eyesight. He could do nothing as Danny's corpse flopped around, like a fish out of water, in the small crater he made in the Titans roof. Like his power created a shallow grave for it's wielder for daring to use it.
And, slowly, the seizing stopped.
As they got closer to the corpse, Danny started seizing again. But it looked... Different?
His limbs crept back into place. His ribcage spasmed, seemingly as his ribs reconnected, one by one. His blood seemed to retreat back into him. And, finally, his eyes blew open wide as his lungs started to function once again. Taking in as much of the view around him as he tried to take in more air.
Danny looked confused.
Then scared.
He gently lifted his hands to examine his body. The fingers inches up and over his torso. To his neck he gave more personal care in running over. Then his face. At which point, seeing his own hands caused whatever disassociation kept Danny calm to evaporate.
The teen dug the heels of said hands into his eyes. Healed body shaking with soft, quiet sobs.
'How terrible,' Kon thought absently. 'To not even be allowed to cry.'
"How terrible, to not even be allowed to cry?"
Yeah how about you just crush my heart into a million pieces instead?
Phantom is a member of JLA when everyone finds out that the Bats have contingency plans against everyone else.
While everyone else is shouting about trust and betrayal, Danny can't help but be relieved. He's seen his bad future, after all. Dan is reformed now, but that doesn't retroactively save the timeline he wiped out.
Danny only has one issue with the contingencies for him: Batman mistakenly believes that his intangibility works the same as Martian density shifting.
It doesn't. In fact, they're very different powers. Intangibility is more of a phase shift where he turns his physical form into energy.
This means that none of the contingencies in his file will work because they don't accurately account for one of his basic powers.
(The shouting actually gets derailed for a bit when he brings it up. All the scientists are a bit horrified about the implied energy conversions happening whenever he uses this "basic" power. As a halfa with an actual physical form, Danny should be giving off enough energy to blow up the planet whenever he transforms.)
He starts putting together an annotated revision of Bruceās contingency for him. Stuff like:
āyouāre overestimating my strength, while I am stronger than the average human most of my strength comes from using ghost zone physics. Maybe try something closer to your contingency for Konās TTK than Clarkās strengthā
Or
āFor restraints look at the Fentonās research. I know I previously told you that their conclusions were false, but that is only in relation to ghost sentience. In everything else their work is remarkably accurateā
Maybe he even gives him a sealed envelope of halfa related weakness/contingencies only to be opened if he goes rouge.
Danny: oh! Also, blood blossoms! I think they're extinct in this universe, but maybe ask Ivy? She might be able to grow them. *gives more info about what they are and when/where they're from*
It takes a while for the JL to go back to how things were with Batman before he revealed his contingency plans. They keep their distance, they can't help it. The fact that he's been pretending to be their friend while planning how to destroy them is just devastating for them.
In contrast, phantom, who was previously very suspicious of Batman and kept giving him hostile glares whenever he looked his way (he gave fruit loop adoption vibes, ok?), is now spending most of his time with the JL being around batman and happily chatting his ear away. The JL doesn't understand the change but when they ask Danny, he just goes: "I just realized he cares deeply š¤·š»" which just makes the JL have more questions.
Batman is happy with this development. He has been trying to get close to phantom for months and he didn't expect this to do the trick (he also gets a break from the people that annoy him on the JL so bonus). He has to actively contain his adoption energy though because everything Danny says about his life borders on child endangerment at best, torture at worst, and most of it has been done by his parents. He has decided to play the long game though, so he's being patient instead of throwing adoption papers at the problem, like he'd usually do. It's hard. Danny telling him the story about the fruit loop does strengthen his resolution to never again be compared to plasmius.
The absolute horror on the faces of the other JL when Phantom just casually starts speaking about his weaknesses. The horror on JLD when they add context to those weaknesses like how blood blossoms could be used as a form of torture because they were so painful.
Batman vowing never to use blood blossoms on Danny unless it's the last possible option available (and knowing him, he'll make sure there's absolutely no other way) because he can't handle the idea of torturing a child that's already been through more than most people do in a lifetime and hasn't let it break him. He refuses (the only reason it's not completely out of the table is because Danny caught wind of his plans for getting rid of all blood blossoms existing and asked him if he hated him so much he'd let him destroy the universe if he turned bad or put the responsibility on one of his (also very much kids) friends).
