I can actually, somewhat, explain this.
The human brain is constantly taking in information 24/7, even information we don't consciously acknowledge or notice like faint smells, the air pressure changing, quiet everyday noises, body language, etc. Our minds are constantly taking this information in and storing it for use, but not making it a priority. This intense awareness of our surroundings is what gives us our intuition, alerts us to something being wrong, and the body language of others, and the normal person won't even notice this!
I have more on this that I'd like to say, but I have no idea how to fit them in though because I've never watched/read Project Hail Mary so I can't pull anything from that it to branch into it, so if you wanna see me explain more stuff about this and some of my theories on this fascinating fact just ask me and I'll spill.

hey! been really enjoying your aus and one-shots. just to through this out there, has anyone seen a DJ Danny Au? cuz i could see someone just using Danny's name like 'DJ Fenton get over here' and him just being like 'ok bet, im a DJ now.' yes i just thought of this after realizing Danny's middle name was James. Am I grabbing at loose straws? maybe. Am I here for random chaos to see what sticks? yes!
hope you have a lovely day and are in good health :D
I haven't read a fic like this, but maybe someone would recognize it? Can someone help us find DJ Danny? (Also, I had no idea Danny had a middle name! This opens many doors for my brain)
Now, if I misunderstood and you were making a prompt rather than asking to locate a fic, then I love this idea.
I picture Danny with one too many drinks at the Ice Lounge, dancing around and dropping his wallet. A rare good civilian finds it, takes it to the front, and they make an announcement for Danny to come to the front. If he failed to go in five minutes, they would keep it (the employees had already taken out the cash to give to Penguin), but drunk Danny didn't realize they were calling his initials and last name. He genuinely stops mid-dance because he's been assigned as a DJ and he needs to go perform.
Before his friends can stop him, he stumbles to the stage, climbs up the station and zaps his powers into the house set up. It's an imitation of Technus's ability to access electronics, but it's enough for him to learn how to use it and force it to do what he wants, without having to actually load songs. He quickly takes over the music, and the entire club is screaming.
He's not even infusing them with his powers; he's just got a good ear for mixing songs. He even zaps into the lights, throwing random spotlights on the best dancers he sees, shouting "theme music for you!" changing the song to match their vibe, and the crowd loves it. Penguin is alerted right away that someone hijacked his DJ booth -the other DJ got busted by Batman, so he was a no-show- and he's about to "bring him in" until he sees how successful Danny is.
His men informed him that word had spread online and that a line wrapped around the block was waiting to come in. Not to mention, Danny keeps randomly yelling sentences like, "This next set is best with Volka Soda!" because he likes to make playlists to whatever he's drinking that night. The bar gets an overflow of people following Danny's alcohol suggestions. He basically doubled thier profit in only an hour. What's more, after playing the entire night, the guy just leaves, doesn't even ask for pay, and Penguin basically made more in one night than in the entire month.
He demands that his men find DJ Fenton and have him become an exclusive DJ at Ice Lounge. He'll pay him triple the usual rate he offers DJs as long as Danny pushes more drinks like he did that night.
Meanwhile, Danny was so drunk he woke up the following morning with a killer hangover and no memory of what he had done. He is unaware that Penguin is hunting him down for a job, and when his men first tried to talk to him, Danny assumes he pissed off the crime lord.
He runs away from the Penguin-hired goons, deciding to go to ground while planning how to get out of the city. This catches the Bats' attention, so they also start chasing him to offer protection, but Danny counts as a meta, so he assumes they are chasing him to hurt him, as "No Metas allowed in Gotham" rumors make him paranoid. Now he's got to escape Gotham while avoiding both Penguin and Batman, which is nearly impossible no matter what he attempts. He's just lucky he's fast enough to vanish in the streets whenever they get close.
Danny dodges them all for a month, while Penguin has already announced his next show and is growing impatient that the man hasn't come by to sign a contract. He will have that idiot for the next show, even if he has to pay more.
The Bats are unaware that the man wants to offer a legitimate job and grow more desperate to reach Danny as Penguin ups his efforts. It's a high-stakes game of Capture the Flag with Danny as the Flag that Moves.
Eventually, one of the Penguin's Goons uses their brain and finds Danny's social media account to talk, which leads to an actual conversation on why Penguin is after him (accompanied by a video of Danny's DJ act as proof when Danny said he drank so much he couldn't remember what happened).
After a lot of convincing Danny agrees to meet Penguin in a neutral space to go over his DJ act and potential new job. During this meeting something happens to spook Danny and he accidentally frosts over his cup of whatever, leading to Penguin realizing that this guy is probably an ice meta and was/is so difficult to get because he's terrified of being hurt for his powers. This leads to Penguin promising Danny some personal guards whenever at work and this is what leads Danny to cautiously accepting.
Things go good for like a month, Penguin is making absolute bank, Danny has somehow cemented himself in the favorite coworker/work nephew spot, and there's only been like 2 issues max. But then a destable Ellie appears followed closely by a now deranged Vlad (Fenton experiment gone wrong, evil artifact, who knows). Leading the Bats and Penguin to learn about Danny's deranged godfather having essentially violated him and that he had a daughter at 14 (cloning without consent is 100% a violation and while not as bad as SA, could probably be considered pretty close, especially if the clone has DNA from different people as that's just a test tube baby).
Shit doesn't stop here either, as the GIW come following along and putting Danny in even more danger, and forcing the Bats and Penguin to work together as this anti-ghost shit is bullshit and Penguin's not about to lose his favorite worker because of some insane bigots.

meanwhile AO3: so everything is free in our house. read whatever you want offline. also no ads. no capitalism. no censorship. be as wild as you want with your fics. also we have tagging systems so you can search or avoid any specific tags, pairings, relationships or characters. whatever you want.
Iâm sorry but if youâre still complaining, you donât realize how good you have it with AO3, one of the last platforms on the internet that is free of capitalism and censorship. just artists and writers creating and sharing their works with the community for free and for fun. just authentic love between artists, their works, characters, stories and audiences.
Tbh, the only thing in my opinion that would make Ao3 better than it already is would be the ability to search/filter your history and subscriptions. I have read so much and wish it was easier to find fics to re-read.
Fic prompt #66
Dpxdc
I am deeply enamored with the prompt where Danny gets mistaken for (or correctly identified as) some kind of pit creatureâgod, angel, demon, mermaid, eldritch problem, take your pick.
The rules are simple:
⢠Danny is a gremlin.
⢠Danny either has no idea who the hell keeps bathing in his pool, or
⢠He knows and is doing something specifically to be annoying.
Now consider this:
Danny discovers the Lazarus Pit.
Naturally, everyone else assumes heâs a creature of the Pit. A guardian. A god. A cursed spirit. A mermaid (he got the look). Danny does absolutely nothing to correct this.
But instead of the usual routesâdestroying the League of Assassins, adopting Damian, picking a moral sideâDanny just⌠starts chatting and continues to do so for centuries in their world.
Raâs al Ghul becomes his pool buddy.
They talk while soaking in the Pit. Raâs gives long, dramatic monologues about destiny, immortality, and the decay of the world. Danny listens politely, floating upside down, occasionally splashing, responding through some kind of ghostly translation magic that turns his very normal thoughts into something vaguely ominous and prophetic.
Raâs: âThe world must be cleansed to be reborn.â
Danny (meaning): âYeah, stagnation sucks. You ever try bubble filters?â
Danny (translated): âAll cycles end in rot, and rot demands renewal.â
Raâs is thrilled.
Danny just thinks his pool buddy is neat.
Then one day Danny sees Raâs with the Batfamily.
Danny, with complete sincerity, assumes this is Raâs trying to invite his other friends to pool time.
So Danny tries to help.
He attempts to guide one of them into the Pit. It does not go well. There is screaming. There is grappling. There is Batman shouting about unknown entities and containment protocols.
Danny is confused. A little offended.
Still, every time he sees them after that, he tries again.
Not aggressively. Just:
⢠appearing out of the Pit like a horror movie mermaid,
⢠holding out a hand,
⢠ominously intoning (via broken translation magic):
âEnter the waters. The pool is warm. We are bonding.â
The Batfamily is convinced this is a recruitment ritual.
Raâs is delighted.
Danny is just trying to get his friends to hang out.
ââââââ-
POV: Raâs al Ghul
In his first centuries, when Raâs al Ghul was still learning what immortality cost, he met the creature.
Back then, the Lazarus Pit was wilder. Less refined. Less⌠tamed. Raâs had only bathed a handful of times when, during one resurrection, the waters did not still.
They shifted.
Something surfaced with him.
Raâs woke choking on life and madness, and found himself face to face with a being already awake, already watching him with mild curiosityâas if Raâs were the strange thing in the pool.
The creature was young-looking, but not young. Luminous in the Pitâs glow, hair drifting like ink in water, eyes reflecting death without fear. It did not recoil from the Pitâs frenzy. It was not consumed by it.
It belonged.
Raâs understood immediately: a child of the Pit, born from death repeated too many times.
The creature spoke.
Raâs heard:
âYou return too soon. The waters remember you.â
What it meant, in a voice filtered through strange translating magic:
âWow, that was fast. You good, dude?â
Raâs laughed. He could not help it.
From then on, Raâs was never alone when he resurrected.
In those early centuriesâbefore the League, before empires rose and fell beneath his feetâthe creature would join him in the Pit. Sometimes already there, sometimes arriving halfway through Raâs rebirth, as if checking on him.
It asked questions. Strange ones.
Why do you do this?
Does it hurt every time?
Do you ever take breaks?
The Pit twisted these into riddles and warnings. Raâs heard prophecy. Doctrine. Judgment.
Raâs answered honestly.
He spoke of saving the world, of cleansing corruption, of shepherding humanity forward. The creature listened, chin propped on its hands, occasionally nodding.
It responded with statements like:
âEndless renewal without rest fractures the soul.â
(which meant: âThat sounds exhausting.â)
Raâs took this as sacred counsel.
Centuries passed.
Raâs refined the Pit. Controlled it. Built rituals, safeguards, entire philosophies around it. Through it all, the creature remainedâunchanged, unaging, eternally informal.
Sometimes it vanished for decades. Sometimes centuries. But whenever Raâs returned to the Pit, there it was again, greeting him like an old friend.
Back again?
ârendered by magic asâ
âThe cycle resumes.â
When Raâs finally formed the League, he spoke of the guardian with reverence. He warned his followers not to disturb the waters unnecessarily. It was watched.
They obeyed.
Only much laterâmuch laterâdid Raâs bring outsiders to the Pit.
The bats.
ââ
Raâs al Ghul has faced the Detective many times.
This encounter is no different: steel, smoke, accusations, inevitability. The Bat stands between Raâs and the Pit, his allies fanned out behind him, tense and prepared. Raâs is already calculating angles, exits, casualties.
Violence is imminent.
Then the waters of the Lazarus Pit ripple.
Raâs freezes.
Slowlyâdeliberatelyâthe guardian emerges.
Pale glow first. Then eyes. Then the familiar, impossible calm of a being that has watched Raâs die and rise more times than any mortal ever should.
The Pit-spirit floats at the surface, blinking as it takes in the scene.
The bats.
The weapons.
Raâs, poised to strike.
The creature tilts its head.
âOh,â it saysâthough what Raâs hears is something closer to:
âConflict stains the waters before it begins.â
Raâs does not move. He does not dare.
The bats, unfortunately, do.
One of them shifts, weapon raising half an inch.
The creature immediately misunderstands everything.
Its expression softens. Brightens. Recognition dawns.
âYou brought friends?â it says, pleased.
Translated as: âThe circle widens. New souls approach the threshold.â
Batman reacts instantly.
The creature reacts faster.
It glides closer to the edge of the Pit, extending a handânot threatening, not aggressive, just inviting. Like one would gesture toward warm water on a cold night.
âCareful,â it says gently. âFirst time can be rough, but youâll feel better after.â
Raâs closes his eyes.
Of course this is happening.
Chaos erupts.
The bats scatter. Someone swears. Someone fires a grappling hook. The creature recoils, startled, nearly slipping back into the Pit.
âHuh,â it says, confused.
Rendered ominously as: âFear resists transformation.â
Raâs snaps orders, retreatingânot from the bats, but to shield the Pit. He positions himself between them and the guardian, blade lowered but ready.
The creature looks at him, baffled.
âThey donât want to hang out?â it asks.
Raâs exhales, slow and reverent.
âThey are⌠unprepared,â he says carefully.
The guardian considers this. Nods. Withdraws a little, sinking back into the waters.
âOkay,â it says. âNext time, then.â
The bats escape.
Silence returns.
Raâs kneels by the Pit, heart still racingânot from battle, but from relief.
âI apologize,â he says quietly.
The creature shrugs, already relaxing.
âItâs fine. You tried.â
And Raâs al Ghulâimmortal, feared, unwaveringâaccepts, once again, that he is not the most dangerous being in the room.
He is merely the one with the pool.
I'm reading this and imagining a Danny who's still a vigilante but a seasoned one, who comes hang out with his pool buddy whenever things get a bit too hectic. Who has sometimes complained about the Ghost hunters or other Ghosts to Ra's (who due to translation errors thinks that they are one in the same and are just older than his Pit buddy.) Or talks fondly of his friends Sam and Tucker (who Ra's believes to be the Guardian's partners.) Just Ra's learning things about Danny and misinterpreting them due to mistranslation.
And at some point for whatever reason, whether bad reveal or the G.I.W get the jump on them, Danny gets really hurt, like missing an arm levels of bad. In this Ellie either destabilizes or is forced back into her core along with Dante, and desperate to protect them he takes them to his pool buddy to protect while he goes and deals with whatever is happening in his world, not exactly realizing what he looks like at the moment.
So instead of the usual tranquil looking dragon-mer (thinking eastern or sea serpent style) Ra's sees an absolutely feral and furious looking dragon who is missing an arm telling him to protect what looks like a pair of massive eggs before diving back into the Pit to teleport back to wherever its nest is to deal with whatever attacked.
Ra's staring at the eggs. Wondering what on earth the Pit creature (Danny) survives on now. Because the eggs make it clear that even though Ra's hasn't seen him age, they must age somehow.
He just got tasked with protecting these two eggs. And has no idea how to keep them alive. He doesn't even know if Danny's eggs are like crocodile eggs, and the embryo changes gender based on temperature.
And say Danny was so desperate to protect Ellie and Dante became their cores are cracked.
So not only does Ra's have no idea what to do. He has no idea if either egg is alive anymore. Cracks on eggs when they aren't hatching is extremely concerning after all.
(wrote this right before bed. If things are confusing that's why.)
For lack of better info to start, he rushes to build them the Most Supportive Nests of the Finest Stuffs, right there in the pool-chamber. And quadruples all security leading to it, locking the chamber itself down more thoroughly than ever seen by still-living minions/kin.
Then starts diving into ALL the centuries of bestiaries, trying to find Anything to narrow down similarities between these Apparent Eggs and. Any category of species ever. Anything. Birds? Reptiles? Amphibians? Platypi? AnYtHiNg, pls.
Given that they came from his Pit Buddy, he can guess that Lazarus Waters are Probably beneficial? But. Will they drown if he just. Nests them IN the Pit? Should he rig some kind of floating, supportively-suspending net to the shallows for them? Keep them always partially above water but rotate them so no spot gets too little? Should he be keeping the cracks above water or below it? Do they Need to breath air or Pit Water?
(I accidentally gave myself the mental image of heavy-but-exquisite netting attached to rings made of pool floaties or noodles. Like a floatie ring for toddlers but makeshift and silly.)
Ra's has had entire CENTURIES less collectively-stressful than that first week. Has never at any point been This Stressed in his LIFE.
Imagine either Ellie or Dante heal enough emerge from their core (preferably both of them at once).
And Danny still isn't back yet.
So to Ra's it looks like his Pit buddy's kids are hatching. Without him.
And he read about how many animals imprint on the first thing they see.
Let Ra's be scared that he might piss of the Pit Guardian by accidently stealing their kids.
De aged Elle and Dante? While Danny is trying to rescue his Ras is babysitting the adorable tiny pit guardians and is so worried about offending their parent.
Meanwhile, the League has started leaving offerings in the pit chamber for the twins. Lots of soft materials and piles of shiny treasures that the female loved to play with and even a couple potted plants that the male seems to appreciate.
When Danny eventually returns, he brings Sam and Tucker with him.
I'm a sucker for the everlasting trio as halfas, so Sam is in full dryad mode and Tucker has skin that shimmers, golden eyes, and golden claws. It's clear to Ras that these are the Guardian's mates and the twins' other parents.
He doesn't dare protest as the dryad tips over the potted plants which rapidly grow into a miniature jungle and the gold touched being begins to create otherworldly devices by molding the precious metals like clay.
Ras orders his most trusted to stand guard outside the chamber as the Guardian creates a nest from the furs and rugs that had been given as offerings and settles down with his young for a long nap.
YES!
I'm imagine that the trio are in rough shape right now, with Danny being the worst atm, way worse than before. I'm imaging that life half his torso is gone and his tail is all sorts of fucked up, wounds that'd instantly kill any mortal (and maybe even Ra's).
The thing that ends up concerning Ra's the most though is that the Guardian isn't healing as fast as usual, he understands that this amount of damage would take ages to heal, but by the time the Guardian's partners are healed the Guardian themself has barely made any progress.
So concerned, he asks one of Danny's partners if he was okay and why healing was taking so long (I'll say that it was Sam he asked), and she explained that he got hit with a weapon that used blood blossoms, and how they were essentially death for Ghosts and liminal.
But because we still have translation issues Ra's hears of a flower that eats away at and devours all that the Lazarus Pits touch, how it was turned into a weapon to destroy the waters and all those blessed by them, how despite the danger the Guardian, who the Dryad called Diadem (she actually called him Danny, but weird magic translation stuff happened and now he's a star), had taken hits from this weapon to protect his partners. And while he'd heal, it'd take much longer as the poison remains in his system trying to eat away at him.
Ra's, not wanting the Guardian (who he somewhat considers a friend) to potentially die because of this poison, he asks if he could take a sample to try and find a cute. And while both the Guardian's partners are hesitant, and rightfully so as neither knew too much of the LoA and they'd just been driven out of their nest, agreed. Letting Ra's take a few samples from Diadem(Danny) in the injured areas to try and find a cure for it.
At this point I'm absolutely not finishing this because idk why I though fully detailing this shit was a good idea but I present to you 15 hours of slaving over teeth and flesh

Danny doesn't have a Lair, but he does have a Nest
Ghosts don't automatically get a Lair when they die, instead they have to make their own, usually by claiming an area and putting things in said area, slowly building it up over time. They also tend to gravitate towards areas where other Ghosts are, leading to cities and towns being built over time.
Danny, being a Newdeath, does also have these instincts, but because he's a halfa he has a massive misunderstanding of these instincts. When they first started coming in it was shortly after he turned and he was feeling incredibly anxious about leaving his most important stuff and ghost related things in the house, scared that his parents might do something and ruin them by accident. So he takes some of it into the Ghost Zone, but instead of following his instinct to go to a nearby city area he freaks out a bit at the amount of Ghosts and does the exact opposite, still being under the misconception that Ghosts were evil. While he couldn't find an area to store his stuff without any Ghosts around he did find somewhere really close, there was a massive area where he could only feel one other Ghost and it felt like that it was rarely around and while the area itself gave him the creeps it was the only safe place.
Due to the fact that the area gave him the creeps, his misconception about Ghosts, and everything going on in his life he rarely spent time at his little area (which he should not be doing for his own health). Every once in a while when he does visit his little hidey-hole he can feel that the other Ghost had been nearby, which does stress him out and makes him question if he should move his things, but everytime he decides against it as the Ghost never came super close to his little spot. The only times he had ever sensed that the other Ghost had been super close to his things was when it left gifts.
The first time he had been scared and hella suspicious when he felt that the Ghost had been so close to his things, having immediately gone through his stuff to make sure nothing had been tampered with and almost completely missing the star blankets and pillows that had been left as a gift. Danny had also investigated them, making sure they weren't some sort of trap, but when he realized that they were just blankets and pillows he accepted the gift, even making himself a little blanket nest out of them so he'd have somewhere to rest when needed. After that he felt a lot safer and more comfortable whenever he visits his Nest, and while the area still feels creepy the feeling wasn't as intense. The rest of the gifts he proceeded to get from the mysterious Ghost while rare were usually all space related, from ancient star maps to modern telescopes. All of which helped him believe that Ghosts =/= Evil.
While he doesn't know who the Ghost who keeps leaving him stuff is, he does hope to one day meet them.

The Green Lanterns and Justice League were freaking out. The signal they had on Nekron to know where he was had vanished around a week ago, worse was that it had last been seen on Earth. Despite this, The Blackest Night hadn't happened yet, and they didn't know how long they had until it started.
Danny was NOT having a good week. Due to all the Ghost Attacks he hadnât had the time to properly study for the midterms, meaning not only were Ghosts kicking his ass but so were tests. So when some new random Ghost had popped up that acted a bit too much like Pariah Dark and Dark Danny for comfort Danny didn't hesitate to immediately soup them in a specially made thermos designed to lock away the strongest of the strongest (the blueprint of which had been given to him by Clockwork for some terrifying reason) and shoved it into a highly secured box in his Lair in the Ghost Zone.
(Tldr, a VERY tired Danny prevents The Blackest Night from happening by souping Nekron before he could do anything and the heroes are panicking because "Why hasn't it happened yet? What is Nekron planning?)
[Disclaimer: I have never read any DC comics and this idea came to me when sleep deprived, so I apologize if it's weird. I saw a prompt that mentioned The Blackest Night in its reblogs, looked it up, saw that the main villain was dead, and decided he should get souped because funnies]
Danny's been haunting Wayne Manor rent free for the past few weeks. It's a huge place, very gothic, very old, definitely needs a ghost or two. Between the ambient ectoplasm of Gotham and the giant pantry so full of snacks that no one could possibly know what's going missing, he's even eating better here than he was back in Amity. It's a sweet set-up.
The only problem? Cats can see ghosts. And Alfred the Cat won't stop chasing him like he's spectral prey.
Tim: what's with Alfred today
Damian: he is chasing ghosts, of course
Tim: aw you actually made a joke for once!you're learning lol
Damian:
Danny: *Slowly goes un-invisible while wrapped around Damian's shoulders*
I imagine that Danny barely looks human as of right now, so it'd just be this massive, serpentine thing made of ice and snow and shadow and space with Lazarus green eyes draped over Damian's shoulders like those massive snakes.
In this I'm betting that because Alfred the Cat immediately noticed Danny, Damian was the first human resident of the Manor to learn (followed by Duke because Danny's glow is BRIGHT). Ima say their first meeting was during one of the times Damian stayed home instead of going out as Robin (sick, benched, whatever) and noticed AtC acting weird and looking in a specific corner. Which is normal cat behavior, but when he looked to see whatever AtC was looking at he actually saw it, which did startle him a bit because he honestly didn't expect to see anything. Before Damian reacted though to the unknown and try and figure out if it was a threat he saw its eyes which looked like pools of Lazarus water, and while he'd never tell anyone he does find the color comforting, a reminder of his first home. He then saw that it was injured (it doesn't say why Danny is here so I'm saying something bad happened in Amity and he needed to gtfo). Danny at this point noticed the boy staring at him, realized he must've accidentally dropped his invisibility, and quickly went invisible again as he fled.
Damian, who's probably cursing at himself for not doing anything, then starts spending time trying to draw the thing out by gaining its trust to learn more, and hopefully be able to help its injuries. Damian had seen the flicker of fear in its deep green eyes before it vanished, it may not have been an animal as far as he knew but it was scared and hurt like one, and he wasn't going to let it keep suffering.
(If at some point on the future Damian learns about Danny being half human and he gets to be the first person to see the human form of his best friend crush that would be awesome in my opinion.)
Fic prompt #45

Danny hates Batman. It wasnât because of the mess in Amity Park, nor because of the whole no meta in Gotham rule. No â Danny hates him because he is Bruce Wayne.
A decade ago, the Fenton parents were invited to an important event in Gotham, where they were supposed to promote some of their non-violent, non-ghost-related inventions. But Bruce Wayne, after looking into their research, thought they were trying to sell weapons â and found a way to destroy their reputation.
If it werenât for some of their old patents, they would have ended up on the street. Not only did he make Dannyâs parents cry, but he also tried to report them for abuse â when there wasnât any.
When Danny was a child, he thought the whole ordeal had just been an unlucky series of events that Bruce Wayne caused by accident. So, while he didnât like him, he didnât hate him either â because Danny himself knew what it was like to make bad things happen by accident.
But when he was sixteen and discovered the true identities of the Justice League⌠he realized it hadnât been an accident at all.
âââââ
That night, everything changed.
Sixteen-year-old Danny Fenton had seen a lot of things since the accident that made him half-ghost. Heâd fought creatures made of shadows, faced eldritch horrors, and even saved the world a couple of times. But none of that compared to the cold fury he felt when he connected the dots â when he realized Batman and Bruce Wayne were the same person.
The same man who ruined his parentsâ careers.
The same man whoâd called Child Protective Services on them, convinced they were abusing him.
The same man who smiled on camera, talking about charity and family values, while quietly dismantling others behind closed doors.
Danny had always thought Batman was supposed to be one of the good guys. A hero. Someone who protected the innocent.
But now all he could see was a hypocrite in a cape.
He didnât tell anyone â not Sam, not Tucker, not even Jazz. He just⌠kept it inside, like a cold ember smoldering in his chest. Whenever the Justice League showed up on the news, heâd look away. Whenever Batmanâs name was mentioned, his jaw would tighten.
And when he met the League in person for the first time, years later â when they came to Amity Park to âinvestigate an interdimensional anomalyâ â Danny was calm.
Too calm.
Because he wasnât that scared kid anymore.
He was Phantom.
And this time, Bruce Wayne wouldnât walk away without consequences.
Danny by this point has had a few too many solo missions and fights against Vlad to not at least have a decent plan, and while he is not a major drama queen he has learned the value of poetic justice.
Thus begins his plan to file a report with CPS about Batman's care of his sidekicks; after all the video comilition of the youngest Robin calling the man father is proof enough of him at least adopting some of them, and he has a lot of ghosts of Gotham he can ask about the worste things Batman has done to his children. Separately he does the same Bruce Wayne's career and gets those interviews, and then posts his testimonies from ghost online. Why online? Because CPS won't do jack against kids in homes with roof, food, and water and he needs both of the guys identities to feel the pressure from outsiders constantly thinking he's an unfit parent; give him a taste of what his parents felt for years because of Bruce's planned slander. It won't be the same but it will be a start.
Title of his post.
Ghost speaks all on Gotham's two biggest heroes and how they use 'Family' like tools.
Batman evidence: Could mention baterrand incident, tim 16th birthday, not getting trained individuals to help Damian stop killing, accusing a child of murder without proof, arbitrary punishments of losing Robin without warning if he 'doesnt think the child will be safe' but doesnt bother to keep child safe when they move to Blud, hitting the oldest foster child, using Robin as a manipulationto get children to return to fighting crime with him, having children pretend to die for a bid in his war, etc.
Bruce evidence: first child moves away before 18, 2nd child runs away to find real family, 3rd child was groomed to take over company, 4th child needs intervention services and despite getting these services for 1st foster child has refused tp get them for his blood child, is fostering a child of color but does not open his home to this child's old friends and suddenly this child loses contact with old friends and their new friends are already pre-approved 'friends' of the family.
It doesnt matter to Danny if it's taken out of context. Batman took his whole family out of context. He will return thst favor.
Make it even better that if any of the Batkids try to explain the situation Danny treats them the same as the social workers who didnt listen to him when he shouted that Wayne was lying and taking things out of context. (Make it that Danny and Jazz were removed from Fentons for 1.5 years due to Bruce's smear campaign, before reunification was done).
The sad fact is that Danny started off planning this campaign to only be simple, annoying, petty revenge. Then he found the batarang incident. Then Tim's birthday test. Then Damian's attempts on Tim's life that were never appropriately addressed. And more, so much more besides that.
Phantom is a protection spirit. He can't simply turn a blind eye to imminent danger when he sees it's coming; doing so would be in direct conflict to his very being. And it's definitely coming for this "family unit". His years spent as Jazz's little brother, listening to all her psycho babble, have taught him that.
Learning about the Battle for the Cowl cements it. Bruce Wayne/Batman is unfit to care for children, and the Dead will prove it.
Ok, if we're going like this then I wanna make it that while researching Danny ends up looking into the bat kids' friends and notices how they are ALSO being mistreated in some way, turning it from being just against Batman to the entire hero community. Why? Because so many of these kids are/were literally just child soldiers, child soldiers who are giving up their childhoods to fight crime they shouldn't have to fight. They aren't even being payed for risking their lives on a daily basis.
Danny, being a kid with a sister who loves psychology, understands more than anyone how bad this is. Are any of them getting proper schooling? Are their sleep schedules okay? How many of them have nearly died? Had any of them actually wanted to be heroes or was it something they were taught to want due to having powers/hero parent(s)?
Phantom had no choice but to become a hero, he's a protector spirit, not protecting literally hurts him. But how many of these kids actually had a choice? From what he's learned the first Superboy certainly didn't, but what about the others? Did they have a choice in becoming a hero? Or were they just told they did when in reality they didn't?
By looking for revenge against Bruce Wayne he's unintentionally uncovered how toxic and dangerous the hero community actually is, and he WILL protect these kids. (Cue Danny becoming an investigative journalist/whistle blower who brings light to how bad the hero community actually is, especially towards children and anyone incorrectly seen/perceived as villainous.)
Even more concerning would probably be the number of young heroes who were the children of villains? I personally count Kon in this group.
Now we know that many of them chose to be heroes as an act of rebellion, but from an outsider perspective it could very well look like heroes are forcing villain kids to become heroes as some sort of twisted penance.
Putting my piece in here, but if you think about it too long, child heroes can be seen as , you know, child soldiers. Which, uh, is not good.
Lowkey, I'm not good at putting my thoughts into words and im on mobile, so I really hope this all makes sense, but;
And also a violation of human rights, which makes it worse. Like, yeah, you can argue its heroism (which, is basically legal in dc) but if you think about it too long it gets real bad, especially when you look into certain comic issues and see what happens to certain characters, like Beast Boy, or Raven, or literally any young superhero.
The psychological issues are insane. And are documented well. Quoting the wiki on child soldiers "Child soldiers who survive armed conflict frequently develop psychiatric illness, poor literacy and numeracy, and behavioral problems such as heightened aggression, which together lead to an increased risk of unemployment and poverty in adulthood. Research in the United Kingdom has found that the enlistment and training of adolescent children, even when they are not sent to war, is often accompanied by a higher risk of suicide, stress-related mental disorders, alcohol abuse, and violent behavior."
And "Child soldiers who survive armed conflict face a markedly elevated risk of debilitating psychiatric illness, poor literacy and numeracy, and behavioural problems. Research in Palestine and Uganda, for example, has found that more than half of former child soldiers showed symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder and nearly nine in ten in Uganda screened positive for depressed mood. Researchers in Palestine also found that children exposed to high levels of violence in armed conflict were substantially more likely than other children to exhibit aggression and anti-social behaviour."
Simply put, say a child superhero doesn't want to fight crim anymore? The damage is already done, and what will the league do? Yeah, they could offer therapy, maybe even help out with civilian life, but that doesn't take away that said child has had their innocence taken away, torn apart and stomped down. I mean, in the comic issues AND animated series we can see how badly certain situations can affect them.
An example here would be, say, Young Justice Season 1, Episode 16, "Failsafe', where the Young Justice team goes into a simulation and deals with severe trauma due to the simulation going out of control. Yes, it's a simulation, but that does not stop it being traumatising, especially seeing your friends and mentors dead!
Yes, they get therapy, but these are still children! Teenagers who are being put through simulations for battles!
Another thing, pulling from the wiki on child soldiers here again, but: "Children are targeted for their susceptibility to influence, which renders them easier to recruit and control. While some are recruited by force, others choose to join up, often to escape poverty or because they expect military life to offer a rite of passage to maturity."
Which, if we look at the Justice League mentoring young heroes or employing young heroes (who could reasonably be from poor situations, see: Jason Tood, or Dick Grayson, or Artemis) for easy labour, or to make an army. (In some cases, if I'm remembering correctly from when I used to watch Yoing Justice and Justice League Animated, there have been a few episodes where they go against the government or even caused large amounts of damage that could cause civilian deaths, or even the deaths of heroes.)
You could also take Jason Tood (a famous example here) as being forced into superheroing. Depending on the backstory you choose, or even issue, you could make it out that Jason thought that if he didn't become Robin, he'd be put out on the streets. Again, street kid that was homeless for a time, and I'm not sure about you, but I'd also probably think such a thing if I was Jason.
And I am going off on a tangent and need to get back on track because i have FEELINGS on children being shoved into superheroing/villanary and if i think about it too long, i WILL go mental and rant about the government, so I give you:
Danny realising that, yeah, that Batman, and the Justice League, is violating a lot of human rights by employing or training child superheroes. Possibly even counting as human trafficking since the definition is literally "the unlawful act of transporting or coercing people in order to benefit from their work or service, typically in the form of forced labour or sexual exploitation.'
And we all know its the former. Or it can be the second, if we go by some... problematic issues (I am eyeing that one issue with Hal Jordan dating a fellow green lantern who was an alien and was said to be the 'equivalent to a 13/14 year old'. I CAN UNDERSTAND IF IT WAS SAID THAT HER SPECIES MATURED AT A DIFFERENT AGE, (SEE, MARTIANS) BUT THEY JUST DOUBLED DOWN ON IT MAN.)
Insert Danny looking up all the legal jargon he can and going into a rabbit hole and coming to the conclusion that the Justice League is as bad as the criminals they take down. He could even come to the assumption that they are even taking down criminals to make themselves look good, so anyone who finds anything wrong with them could look bitter or crazy.
I mean it's the Justice League! They're heroes who fight for the greater good, saving us and keeping out danger! There's no way they're as bad as the villains! *I say sarcastically.*
Oooooo, this is giving me â¨ď¸thoughtsâ¨ď¸ and â¨ď¸ideas~â¨ď¸
At this point Danny undeniably has to show this work to someone else, probably Jazz and Tucker as Sam became friends with them after the CPS incident, and while Jazz is probably a little disappointed Danny's doing this at first there's still that confused and angry child in her, and knowing that it was planned is reanimated that dead horse. It only gets worse when she sees all of the evidence that Danny gathered, especially the psychological impacts of the teen heroes being child soldiers and if she's taking notes on how to help Team Phantom it's fully understandable.
And when a teen hero eventually tries confronting them, trying to explain that they had actively wanted to be one, they just give them a pamphlet that explains the definition of of a child soldier and ALL of the ramifications being one has, it also has a statement somewhere in there that actively wanting to be one is incredibly concerning. I imagine if Jason saw one of these pamphlets he'd go into a Pit Rage, not because he's angry at the pamphlets but because they revived a dying horse, he hated the whole child soldier thing Bruce was pulling when he came back up from the Pits knowing something about it was super wrong, he just didn't realize how bad it was. Maybe he even realizes that the Pit Rage wasn't just the Lazarus Pits fucking with him, but the results of having been a child soldier being amplified.
Considering what you said about the JL being just as bad as criminals but doing good things to be seen as heroes at least one member of Team Phantom is going to realize that there would be no way they can immediately attack them without being labeled vindictive and then ignored, they have to chip away at their credibility first. So, they start writing articles, probably starting with vague things about heroism at first, like "What is a Teen Hero, Really?" where they go over what exactly a teen hero is and conclude that it's just another name for a child soldier. Tucker and maybe Technus even work together to help make sure that these articles get not only into the public eye but make sure they aren't somehow taken down. (If you've ever read a MHA fic where Izuku uses the internet to slowly chip away at Endeavor's credibility so he can get arrested then you know where I'm going with this.)
With articles like that in the public's mind people start asking questions, questions they start investigating. This would allow Team Phantom to start posting more pointed articles about the JL, maybe even with Wes managing to weasel in to help write these articles, or if we go with him having Cassandra's Curse he writes articles seemingly going against what TP is writing to make them more believed. At this point, I feel like they may get the chance to start interviewing Teen Heroes, who are beginning to question a lot of things, to put even more pressure on how bad it actually is. Maybe they even get an interview with Redhood once he calms down from the Pit Rage enough, whether he reveals himself to have been the second Robin who came back is up to you, but it would be effective in showing how bad being a Teen Hero really was.
Maybe, at some point of them attacking the public's views on heroes they also pull in the AEA to get them taken down, which would lead to them being able to safely interview even more Teen Heroes and Ghosts to learn more about how bad it really is when the public couldn't see things. Letting them find out about things like the Battle for the Cowl. Maybe Dani/Ellie even starts up a vlogging channel about her (half) life as a clone to help get rid of the stigmatism on them, and maybe even get the Ghost term for a clone, Mirrorborn, be used instead.

Just had the absolute worst shower I've ever had. The water was lukewarm at best even when pushed as far as it could go in the hot, it was screaming the entire time and my ears are still ringing a bit, and the pressure was somehow just barely not enough to be a good pressure. The only thing(s) that could have made that experience worse was if it was a public shower or it was spewing out muck/blood.
It was supposed be be a nice first shower of the year BUT NOOO it just had to be abysmal >:(
I'm thinking of giving up and watching YouTube again.
I hate the concept of the AI aging system and all the AI on it, but it feels like at this point the only people who could get rid of it is YouTube themselves or the Government banning it, and we all know that they won't do that. It feels like the boycott was for nothing about what we wanted, like people have lost their addiction to YouTube and that's great, but it's done nothing to stop the actual problem. I feel like if more people had known about the boycott when it was first announced and it wasn't the main source of income for so many/only place to post videos it would have worked, but it didn't and I'm wondering if I should keep fighting for the YouTube boycott.
It feels like it did practically nothing to the company other than a slight drop of income for a week or two before going back to normal, and it makes me feel as if abandoning the site (and all of my music) was all for nothing. I'm missing so many things, and it's not like any of the time that was removed from watching YouTube went into something good, it just went into watching Tiktok. One of my main fics also hasn't been able to be updated in ages either as I had been using someone's yt vods to get the story of the FNaF SB game.
I don't want to give in to any AI slop, but it feels as if everything that has been done was for nothing. I want the things I've lost and missed back.
