I know generative AI is not generally viewed favorably on this website and I’m kind of preaching to the choir here but this really frustrates me.

Internet search results being tainted with these inaccurate animal AI photos is absolutely going to degrade our collective knowledge base. Many artists and scientific illustrators use image search engines to find reference photos, and if you didn’t know what hyrax feet look like it’d be super easy to miss that this photo is not real.

This is literally what Kinger’s interacting with- an automated but functionally subconscious aspect of Caine’s code (or maybe something else- we haven’t seen hide nor hair of the ‘better’ ai that Caine ‘killed’, presumably the true Abel).

But in a mythological sense, which I think is particularly applicable due to the obvious parallels to the Caine and Abel myth, a daemon is ‘a supernatural being whose nature is intermediate between that of a god and that of a human being’.
