Making things unnecessarily old-timey; my desk
Putting a pen in an old medicinal vial felt right
Hard day of field work. Tons of cutting and clearing. Got super dirty and sweaty and cut up, par for the course. Steve did the treestand work. And for the first time - because I’m stronger than I’ve ever been - I put together the pole saw chainsaw and cut five tree branches off myself, some while standing in the bed of the atv. I was very proud. Today felt like good old fashioned sweat equity. Never be afraid of a day of hard work. It’s the best thing. (Bonus: some awesome downtown and sunrise photos from the drives.)
7 miles this morning. It was rough. But I’m enjoying the hard work. Don’t know how else to put that. Don’t care about time or anything, just, enjoying putting in the work. I like that. 🙂
I went to my office for about an hour then came home and laid down with Oswald and accomplished pretty much zero work for the rest of the day. It’s fine. I have deadlines next week but I won’t miss ‘em. Never have never will. I did get a ton of stuff done around the house, though. I wouldn’t be me if not productive.
Food today: double serving of oatmeal for breakfast; turkey, broccoli, and bell pepper stir fry for lunch; pork chop, potatoes, and peas for dinner; and a hugenormous plate of various fruits for snack. The only time I love fruit is in summer and I am taking advantage of it (and the giant snack for low calories) while it’s here.
Steve and I are doing work at the hunting property tomorrow. We spent an hour after regular work today building a treestand and ladder. Actually, Steve ran over at his desk by 20 minutes so I built the ladder and then unboxed all the treestand parts and laid everything out. Ngl, I was very proud of myself. I feel very capable when I do stuff like that.
And speaking of proud, photo of Steve putting pieces together for reference… and for 💪🏽💪🏽 because I love how fit and strong he looks. 😍😍
I have nightmares about these birds now in the "I Need to be Physically Present at the field site at All Times or Evil Things will happen to my Perfect Little Angels" parental anguish way.
