Think of it: five years ago, no one had ever heard of Bajor or Deep Space Nine, and now, all our hopes rest here. Where the tides of fortune take us, no man can know. They're tricky, those tides.
Deep Space Nine: S05E15 "By Inferno's Light"

Let it be known that Garashir shipper I may be, what that finale did to Sisko was way worse than Berman or whoever's homophobic freak out that kept Garak and Bashir separate mostly in the last few seasons and no queer confirmation in show at all (thank you, Sid and Andy for their passion offscreen playing it as queer as they could onscreen, and Lower Decks, for your work!)
But... Sisko is my favorite! I saw that finale when it aired 27 years ago, and I've been in a constant state of mad ever since! It was a stupid cynical "subvert expectations!" ending before it became mainstream. The climax of the finale 9-episode run was The Changing Face of Evil, a perfect episode with big dramatic twists that didn't suck, and they just had to cruise to the end. But instead we get to the finish line with Dukat and Winn sitting in a cave, seemingly for weeks while the series plot is concluded, waiting to give Sisko a terrible ending, slightly improved by Avery Brooks' intervention.
I was washing snail shells I'd picked up at the beach and thinking about sea snails (an alien concept for me bc I grew up seeing only garden snails). However, the word "snails" always, always brings to my mind the song Disco Snails. So some wires in my brain got crossed and...
Sea snails x Disco Snails = SISKO SNAILS
I am a huge doofus. Sisko is a huge snail. Everything is well.

Recognize this guy?
That's Brock Peters in Mockingbird.
Later on (much, much later on) he had a son who went to space, and he opened a Creole restaurant in Louisiana
it's not perfect yet, I've still got a little editing I want to do when I get the time, but I did a portrait of Benjamin Sisko using my chalk pastels and I'm really happy with how it turned out!
Does anyone else think this guy looks like Gabriel Bell?
