I’ve reblogged her before, but really, you can’t have too many dark-skinned Black queens on your dash. 

Everyone focuses on Lawrence’s arc (naturally, because he’s the protagonist and so very very complicated) but for me Ali’s story of first hating and then falling in love with Lawrence and *never* falling out of it no matter what Lawrence does is in many ways the heart of the film.

This is literally it. It’s the way that ali gave his heart to lawrence and never took it back no matter what happened. He must’ve hoped that lawrence would tend to it, would care for it gently, but ultimately its fate was in lawrence’s hands. 

"I would live for you" hits a lot harder than "I would die for you" imo. you're so important to me that I would pick myself up out of my grave for you. you give me a kind of hope that I thought I couldn't feel anymore. a future with you in it is a future I want to be there for. dying for you is easy, living for you is making the choice every day to get up and keep going

Okay but imagine this is what Lawrence is thinking too instead of just Ali. Like he'd 100% like to kill himself by the end of all this but no, he wouldn't do that to Ali, not while they're still in each other's orbit. And he's just waiting for the other man to stop caring and leave and then it won't hurt anyone if he finishes the job. Because even after all he's done to (in his opinion) disappoint Ali he can't bear the thought of being the reason for his grief.
