does anyone remember the amc show interview with the vampire? one of the greatest things television gave us in its era. heartbreaking that it ended after two seasons when those characters were so beautifully crafted. i really wish we could’ve had more.

It’s an almost impossible shot and I wish there was a way to know how it was done. To synchronize a man walking on top of a train with a camera following him below, so that he’d always stayed between the lens and the sun, is incredibly difficult. So he either had to walk there multiple times until they got it right, or - and it seems to be the case - he watched his own shadow lying on the camera and tried to keep it in place as he walked. It’s still incredibly difficult, especially when you have to look as exalted and careless as possible.

God, this movie is… something else, really.

The last book I read: Dark Matter by Blake Crouch. I think the only reason why i suffered through it and read it till the end is because one of my friends recommended it to me. Please don’t read it though. It sucks.

A book I’d recommend: atlas mentioned this one but i’m begging all the o'sharif freaks out there to read The Night of the Generals by Hans Hellmut Kirst. It’s not that long and it’s more coherent than the film (you might also understand why my pheromones fire up at the mention of dirty grau when you meet him in the book. He’s everything to me.)

A book I couldn’t put down: very cliché but Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. It fucking blew my mind when i first read it especially cause i see so much of myself in the Creature. Will reread it as soon as i have the time!!

A book I’ve read twice or more: Almond by Sohn Won-pyung. 2023 was one of the worst years of my life and it kept me sane back then

A book on my tbr: Grendel by John Gardner

A book I’ve put down: The Tears by Mustafa Lutfi al-Manfaluti.. I’ll get killed for this but i’m sorry i just don’t like his writing style

A book on my wish list: The Ring of the Dove by Ibn Hazm

A favourite book from childhood: Antichristos by Ahmad Khaled Mustafa. It’s one of those books that i’ll never reread unless i’m twelve again. It did things to me.

A book I’d give to a friend: most of my friends adore sci-fi and fantasy novels so definitely Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir and the SoC duology by Leigh Bardugo

A book of poetry or lyrics that I own: Diwan of Abu Nuwas and Shakespeare’s Sonnets

A non-fiction book that I own: Van Gogh: The Complete Paintings by Ingo F. Walther. I also have another book with his letters that made me depressed during high school. I don’t wanna talk about it.

What I’m currently reading: The Satanic Verses by Salman Rushdie. I picked it up the second i heard about the controversy surrounding it and i FUCK with it so hard (the title says everything if you’re enlightened)

What I’m planning on reading next: Household Ghosts by James Kennaway. Brotherly Love/Country Dance (1970) is based on this book and i can’t stop thinking about the film
