There are gonna be people who won't like hearing this but if you want to live in a world where mixed marriages, families, and adoptions (particularly POC adopting outside their "race") aren't maligned and discriminated against, then you have got to get more chill about seeing someone partaking in something cultural that you don't think fits the "race" you perceive them as.

in conversation about white people who go to Japan and expect their knowledge of anime to culturally carry them, I was once posed with “it’s like if there was a Japanese guy who was obsessed with spongebob and came over here and thought he could get by just communicating in spongebob quotes.” This is a false equivalence because if such a man existed we would crown him king. couple weeks ago i was at a botanical garden and i overheard a woman out of my line of sight very sternly but gently explaining, “thousands of people come through here every day, and if they each took a flower, there would be no more flowers! that’s why we don’t pick flowers here. put it down somewhere, you’re being an asshole” and i whipped around at that last part to see who on earth was calling their toddler an asshole and she was talking to a grown man holding a flower and grinning.

I think the biggest thing mascot horror things need to get a grip on is the reasonable balance of cute/creepy. The mascot in question needs to be cute enough to realistically be for children but scary enough to actually make for effective horror. Most games always lean too far in either direction and idk maybe it's just me but immersion with these kinds of games are important for me to actually find enjoyment in them.
