I'm gonna be honest: some of y'all take fandom way too seriously, especially when it comes to "activism"

Here's the thing that people have been trying to say and people get pissed off about it: fandom is not activism. Fandom is just for fun.

Listen: FANDOM DOES NOT DICTATE WHETHER SOMEONE IS BIGOTED OR NOT.

If you're offended by someone "misrepresenting" a fictional character it is your job to block or just to scroll or move on. People seem to forget that they curate their own damn online experience.

For example: let's say someone is shipping an aroace character and you don't like that because you believe its "erasure". Your job is not to attack someone over what they're enjoying in fiction. (Also let's not forget by your own logic you're implying aroace people can't have any relationship ever but that's a can of worms for a different time.)

Or if someone ships a dynamic you aren't comfortable with because it's "morally wrong"? Block and move on

If anything ever in fandom makes you uncomfortable then just block that thing and move the fuck on with your life.

And if fandom bothers you this much then you remove yourself from said fandom.

Hi Apple users, Apple released a fun thing where they take your photos and Siri transcripts and use them to train AI! And they may be automatically turned on without your knowledge, because oh boy they sure were for me!!!!!!!!!!!!

Open the “apps” section in your settings (it’s usually at the very bottom), go to photos and scroll until you see “Enhanced Visual Search” and then turn that shit off. Then go to “Privacy and Security”, scroll until you see “Analytics & Improvements”, and turn off “Improve Siri & Dictation” as well.

I am an artist with hundreds upon hundreds of my artworks in my photo album. I also have plenty of photos with not only my own face, but the faces of my friends and my family. I do not appreciate that being used to train AI without my consent, and I’m pretty sure it’s the same for others too.

I’m so tired of big companies.

EDIT: I made a mistake this feature isn’t used to train AI, but it does still take your photos to be analyzed by AI. This is a feature that was automatically turned on without notice, giving nobody the option to turn it off or on until they find it themselves.

genuinely one of my favourite details about Bram Stokers Dracula that isn't really transferred to the pop culture is that vampires have irridescent eyes, they appear brown at a glance, however when light is reflected on them they seem to go red!

another thing that pop culture latched onto is this idea that you might use a wreath of garlic bulbs to ward off a vampire, however, in the book there is a popular use of garlic blossoms rather than the bulbs. i think these are a lot prettier and way more versatile for stylisation! you could have a garlic flower crown.
