Food for Thought

After yet another 12 hours of work over night, my co-workers and I went out of breakfast at Burnt Toast. This time around, I had their meat lover's skillet which had ham, sausage, and bacon over hash browns and covered with scrambled eggs. It definitely hit the spot!

After a long day of walking around NYC while it was raining, I needed a break and a snack. And so, I ducked in and picked up an iced mocha and a turtle cheesecake. It was well deserved.

I met up with a friend that I made while traveling through SE Asia at STIX for lunch. This Manhattan restaurant is located just a few blocks away from NY's flatiron building. It was the perfect spot for fresh tasting kabobs that were full of flavor! If you're looking for a good restaurant with cuisine that isn't heavy, I definitely recommend this one!

While strolling through the "basement" level of Grand Central Terminal, I stumbled on this gem of a bakery and had to sample their cupcakes. It was a pleasant surprise that I happened to be in town for the Terminal's centennial anniversary.

Yet another day full of walking about NYC. It was decided that a trip back to the hotel, to charge electronics, was in order prior to the start of the afternoon. This particular café, in the financial district where the hotel is located, made a pretty good lamb gyro ... and those fries hit the spot!

Situated in the city's East Village, this particular restaurant drew us in one evening. The food was delicious and decently priced, there was great music, and their red sangria was quite memorable.

Let's face it, you can't visit NYC without walking through Chinatown ... and you can't visit this neighborhood without going in to a restaurant and having a great meal!

I've got the weekend off so I decided it was time to visit NYC. So I booked a flight with United Airlines. En route I decided to try out their Tapas Box.

I think the restaurant has updated their menu! Although to be honest, I don't go often so I could be mistaken, hah. I skimmed through their boards and this was the first dish to catch my eye: truffle mac and cheese!

It's been a while since all of my family here in Illinois sat down for a meal. The setting for this mini-reunion was perfect, and the food tasted great!

One of the things I enjoy about working over night is that in the morning, you can go out for breakfast or brunch! Some co-workers and I drove down the road and headed to Burnt Toast where I enjoyed their chorizo breakfast burrito and cheesy hash browns.

I'm here in the airport and I've got a 4hr layover. That sandwich may have held me over, but now that I've killed 2hrs, I'm starving. After walking around my terminal, I settled on this particular restaurant and had a big bowl of their sweet beef udon soup. 

I'm headed off to Bangkok! But first, I've got to fly through Tokyo's Narita Airport. The flight was a bit short, 1.5hrs, but thankfully we received a small meal. How hungry was I? I didn't eat anything for breakfast. Again. 

I'll be completely honest, this wasn't called "Traditional Restaurant," but in fact, the name was only in Korean. It was, however, traditional in the sense of the way we were served, the type of structure the restaurant was in, and the fact that we took off our shoes when we came in. I cannot stress how mouthwatering everything was! This particular restaurant was at the bottom of Namsan hill where N Seoul Tower is located.

Yes. Yes. Judge as much as you like for my choosing to have a sandwich while I'm in South Korea. I'm not ashamed to say that I was in the mood for something more ... familiar. I walked about the COEX mall and found Lina's and it reminded me of a Panera Bread. This delicious creation is their grilled chicken sandwich with sun dried tomatoes.

I ventured forth yet again and this time I ended up in Namdaemun market. After a while, since I unwisely chose not to have any type of breakfast, I was absolutely starving. My solution? Duck into a cafe to pick up a bite. I saw this particular bakery and left with my hunger satisfied and a warm drink to keep me company.

I spent an afternoon walking around Dangdaemun market and got super hungry! I ducked into my last stop, the Doota mall, and was delighted to find a burger restaurant on one of the top floors!
