what about like the reverse of that one time traveling makoto au, where everyone in his class gets memory's of the future but him
maybe all of them got the memories of the future the day before their first day at hopes peak for drama, and when they all meet everyone kind of just assume makoto remembers everything while hes just very visible confused about what everyone is talking about before kyoko or someone else notices his confusion and explains the situation to him
Makoto of the Future AU Full Tag
Oh boy!
One must assume that everyone initially thinks that they're the only one who remembers. Then they get to school and it doesn't take long to realize that that isn't the case.
For one thing, Mondo and Taka gravitate toward each other, and each knows that the other wouldn't do that if he didn't remember.
Hina honestly probably reaches out to Sakura before school starts; as soon as she realizes she's in the past, she has to make sure Sakura's okay. At first, she just has to do a quick Internet search, but it doesn't take long for her to want to see Sakura in person.
That's how it starts; small groups coming together, along the lines of who they were already friends with and/or who they feel they owe apologies to. From there, it gradually becomes clear that a lot of them remember everything that "happened".
(Toko is an exception; she doesn't talk to anyone and assumes it's just her who remembers. She probably doesn't even notice that everyone else is more friendly with each other than they normally would be at this point in the timeline, because to her other people's friendships always look quick and effortless.)
(And ironically, considering I made Hiro one of the first to figure out that Makoto was from the future in the other AU, he might be one of the last to realize he isn't the only one with future sight, in this AU. Anytime someone shows future knowledge, he thinks he accidentally gave it away.)
While all this is happening, while it's still relegated to insular friend groups instead of the class as a whole, someone is definitely going to have already verified that Makoto doesn't know. Like, while Mondo and Taka were coming together and realizing they both remember dying, etc., Sayaka approached Makoto and saw how immediately flustered he became by Ultimate Pop Sensation Sayaka Maizono walking straight up to him with such purpose, etc. At the time, she doesn't think it's weird, because she still thinks she's the only one, so of course Makoto doesn't remember.
And Kyoko, who played it the coolest out of everyone and waited at a distance to gather information, notices that a lot of the class is acting like they already know each other, this go-round. She catches that first interaction between Makoto and Sayaka, because Makoto was one of the first people she looked at. So yeah, it comes out that he's the only one who doesn't remember.
Honestly, I think we have to say that the memories of the future pop into their heads as they walk into Hope's Peak that first day, because the prospect of everyone except Makoto remembering the future means that Junko and Mukuro remember. And if those two have memories of the future and time to act on them, it's 100% valid to imagine a version of this where the rest of the 78th class arrive at their first day of Hope's Peak and Makoto, Junko, and Mukuro are fully missing.
