This is one of my favorite episodes. Fears can't hurt you if you're chill enough. The guy who walked in a spiral for four hours and then just left because he remembered he had somewhere to be is, to me, the avatar of the entities' fear
strongest people in the magnus archives:
guy who kept the coffin of the buried in his living room and used it as a coffee table
walked out of the spiral because his dog needed dinner
the plumber who was so inattentive that the stranger put on a whole spectacle for him and he straight-up missed it all
the guy whose primary concern with the evil taxidermists was whether or not they were money laundering (they weren't)
AND he didn’t even realize evil taxidermy was at play for the longest time because he came in like “I love and respect autistic people, of course I’m not judging eye contact”
we CANNOT forget the woman that was actively being swallowed by the buried and when there was nothing she could possibly do she lied down on the ground and accepted her fate so thoroughly and with such calm that it had to barf her back up.
And if my memory is correct she KEPT TAKING THE UNDERGROUND TO WORK

For June, I still have $400 in bills to clear before I'm pushing the rock back up the same hill in August. More than half of that is for medical care -- prescriptions are coming back around to need renewal, and I need to see my doctor for updates on medication changes.

SOOOOO funny when you’re having a strong emotion and your logical brain KNOWS you’re overreacting but you literally can’t do anything about it.

so, weird story maybe, but when i was in my practicum i had to start getting up severely early on my longest day of seeing clients. there was really no way around it, and sometimes i'd get to my clinic at 8, and then not be home by 8, after class ended at 10 the night before, and it sucked.
logically it was like, hey, this is temporary, ik i can get through it, but emotionally i was furious that i was being forced to attend something i didn't want to at a time that didn't work for me.
anyways the first time i got there, i was so Mad, and i knew i needed to go be professional in there, so i was like "okay i'm gonna take 2 minutes to ground myself and breathe and get in a better headspace." but trying to be calm frustrated me more. so i said "okay i'm going to take 2 minutes to be an absolute hater." stomping my feet in my car and grumbling and complaining and moving my body.
and it actually helped a lot more? i'm someone who has often had my feelings invalidated by people who "know better," so getting to just be pissy, and let that be heard, made a world of difference. i wasn't happy about having to go in early, but i felt less like i had to chew drywall about it.
anyways i guess the whole point of this story is just to say, sometimes your emotion brain really needs that! like yeah there's overdoing it (usually when you're trying to control others doing harmless things, or lashing out), but sometimes i think it helps /more/ to find a way to bite bite bite, and for that part of you to be Heard.
and that's emotional regulation, too.
!!! I was also in edmonton last week, the rain to clear skies switches were crazy! Definitely not what I was used to lol
TRULY. I spent the morning on Whyte Ave for the art show, and it was all clear skies, not a lick of wind. I got back to the hotel, walked down Jasper Ave and the skies opened up like a biblical event.
I hid in a noodle restaurant until the storm passed. Friends told me that I looked like the ghost of a drowned sailor. Every local I talked to this weekend said they’ve never seen anything like it. It was amazing

Several wildfires are forcing members of a number of First Nations to flee their homes in northern Ontario.
“I had time to run home and pack a bag and get to the beach where the boats were waiting,” said a member of Namaygoosisagagun First Nation (Collins). “We literally had minutes to get on the boats and flee before it took our town. “Once we left my house finally after packing what I could in a pack sack, the fire was right behind our place. We had to run to the beach and once we got there, it was only moments before the fire had jumped over the (train) track and was coming for us.”
it has since been confirmed that namaygoosisagagun first nation has completely burnt to the ground. if you would like to help the community navigate an ongoing crisis, i urge you to donate to the anishinabek nation 7th generation, a registered charity seeking to improve the lives of first nations people. donations are going directly to members of namaygoosisagagun first nation.
