a professional dragon handler makes the point that you really can't compel a dragon to do something she doesn't want to do because she'll just hospitalize you if you treat her like shit. she also breaks down a bunch of dragon body language in some of the videos the riders are posting: "look at the way her pupils dilate and she taps her claws on the ground when she sees that cargo container. that is the happiest fucking dragon i have ever seen. she wants to work so bad and you all sound insane saying she hates it"

which is why you get all these books that embrace hyper violence but flinch away from any -phobias and -isms, because that would be uncomfortable.

what makes the dissonance especially jarring is that viewing violence as abstract is a privilege. in Canada and the States, we get to sit comfortably in our homes while our governments fund weapons and send troops to inflict violence overseas. and sure, we can watch a genocide live-streamed on social media, but it still feels distant.
