Biggest advice? Let yourself use references I took a lotta pride in old pieces for just winging it... But the quality gets upped tenfold if you actually just compile photo references for the vibes you want. Wanna draw a swamp? Gather swamp photos,, trust urself that you can forget about the gorgeous potential of a forest scene (aka me forgetting that leaf litter on top of forest water, and plant life below the water is a thing and getting way too giddy when a photo ref had it) Also... if you want more complicated hard surfaces/enviroments that feel very pakour-y --- draw the characters, plants and other on top stuff later, u got hard objects to place first Helped me a lot for the cat-themed pieces to think of it like a platformer.... all the other stuff is decor, you gotta tell people where their feet can go first and foremost ALSO; Don't be like me and linger too long on clean shapes, actually use textured brushes -- so much of background aesthetics is just **noise**
